Cassandra’s Pov

That look on Rose’s face two days ago was everything I had dreamed of seeing. It was a shattered and defeated look she had when she came in and saw me on Aiden’s bed. That was all I wanted. The pain and disbelief in her eyes with the way her whole body froze. They kept replaying in my mind. Whenever I remembered it, my heart leapt for joy.

Of course, I had almost lost my life in the process. If Fred had not stormed in at the right time, that fool would have strangled me to death. I still shivered at the memory of his hands tightening my neck. I thought for a moment that my child and I were both gone.

That fool could have ended everything for me. But thank goodness, the moon goddess, or maybe sheer luck, brought Fred in just in time. He saved me and saved the child growing inside me.

That child was my only key to power, and I couldn’t waste another second. It was time to reveal the pregnancy. It had to be now, before suspicion grew, before my belly swelled too much. Lu
