Xena’s POV

Two days have passed and I have used those two days wisely. I have been resting, watching and planning. I used a walk around the mansion as an excuse to actually look around properly. And everything I found gave off a dangerous vibe but I was still willing to risk it.

There were no guards in the hallways. No locked doors or strange things—- except for the sculptures. But everything else made this prison look like a home. And that was what made it more dangerous.

The rest of the girls in the house didn't make anything easy for me. They were all brainwashed fools who thought this place was a home and the one who didn't seem to agree to that, weren't really talking. They were all mute. And I couldn't wait for them to finally open up before I hatch a plan to leave.

That evening I overheard the women saying that they had to retire to bed early because the next day was going to be busy. I had no idea what was happening tomorrow and I didn't want to know. If anything I wanted

Author's pov The room was heavy with silence, until Orion slammed his fist against the wooden table. The sharp crack echoed across the stone walls. Distracted Chloe jumped in fear, her eyes wide, heart racing. Orion stood by the window, pacing like a caged beast, his hands clenched so tightly his knuckles had turned white."How could this happen?" he barked. "How?!"Chloe hesitated, trying to calm her racing thoughts. "Orion..."He spun around, his eyes blazing. "Don’t. Don’t start with that sweet voice now. This is your fault. All of it."Her lips parted, stunned. "Mine? It was your son who screwed up. He wanted to prove to you that he could be a badass and thanks to him Kael has changed all narratives.”"Ben is an idiot!" Orion snapped. "But you—you should have known better. You’re the smart one, Chloe. You were supposed to handle this."Chloe rolled her eyes. “Ben and Jared thought they could keep it under control.”"Under control?!" Orion shouted. “All that has been happening lat

Kael’s POVI was halfway through buttoning my shirt when Viktor burst into the office. His face said everything before his mouth did. “We need to talk.”“About what now?” I muttered. My body was still sore, and I hadn’t had more than three hours of sleep. I wasn’t in the mood.He tossed a thick file on my desk. “The High Priestess tested your son’s blood.”I froze. “…My what?”“You heard me. Xena was dragged to perform some confirmation test—-” I cut him off. *Some what?” I snapped, my body acting defensively on its own. “Relax, everything turned out fine and that's why I'm here,’’ Viktor explained. My brows furrowed to curiosity. “What are you talking about?” Viktor leaned forward, looking at me like I owed him something. “The test came back positive. The child is yours.”I froze. “What? The child can't be —-” my words trailed off realizing what happened. Viktor dropped into the chair across from me, breathing hard. “I thought you planned this with the priestess but seeing your

Xena’s POVI followed them down the hall, barefoot, my heart thudding so loud it felt like it echoed off the walls. The baby was still crying in the arms of the palace maid ahead of me, his little face red and wet.I had just recovered from the ‘impure wolf’ And now they were dragging me to the High Priestess to test my baby like he was some stolen object.I swallowed hard and tried to slow my breathing. My thoughts were spinning fast. I needed to buy time.“Wait,” I said, my voice shaking. “You can’t do this without Kael’s permission. He’s not even around. He would never allow this.”The men didn’t stop walking. “The priestess was summoned. Her word is higher than any Alpha when it concerns bloodlines and purity.”“Then tell her to wait. Tell her—Orion is lying! He’s trying to cause trouble. He’s jealous, and Kael won’t be happy when he hears about this.”The woman holding my baby didn’t flinch. She kept walking.“No one’s accusing anyone,” the man said calmly. “We just want to end t

Xena’s POV“Please… please stop crying,” I whispered, bouncing the baby gently in my arms, my eyes red from exhaustion. “Just give me ten minutes… that’s all I’m asking for. Ten minutes of quiet.”But of course, he didn’t listen. His little face scrunched up, red as a tomato, his tiny fists waving in the air like he was ready to punch me for making him exist.I was alone. Completely alone.Susan—who was supposed to be helping me—hadn’t shown up all day. She’d sent a message this morning saying she was “busy with family matters” and that she’d “check in later.”Well, it was already late afternoon, and there was no sign of her. My hair was a mess, I hadn't eaten, and I hadn't slept. The baby had been crying since dawn. I was running on empty.I sat on the couch and rocked him harder, humming a song I barely remembered. My arms were tired. My back hurt and my eyes burned.A knock on the door made me freeze. I froze. My heart pounded as I stared at the door, wondering if I’d imagined it.

Kael’s POVI dragged myself into my office, dead on my feet. My whole body ached from sleeplessness, my brain felt like mush, and I was praying for maybe thirty minutes of peace. Just enough to breathe. Just enough to shut my eyes and get some sleep. But the moment I sat down, the door creaked open.Viktor walked in like he owned the damn place, holding a thick folder in one hand and a black coffee in the other. “Morning,” he said, setting the folder down on my desk. “Here’s your schedule for today.”I didn’t even bother opening it. “Handle them yourself,” I mumbled, eyes closed, head already leaning back in the chair.“What?” He asked, like my voice wasn't loud enough for him to hear. “I said.” I raised my head up. “Handle it.”“You’re serious?”“Do I look like I have the strength to be messing with you?” He hesitated. “Kael… today's the burial of Icho.”I let out a long sigh. “So?”“So you need to be there,” he said quietly.“The bastard tried to kill me,” I growled, gripping the

  • Marked by betrayal, bound to the Lycan Lord.   The Battle of Bedtime

Xena’s POVKael was already lying on the bed like he had nothing to worry about. He laid shirtless, relaxed, and looking smug, as usual. I didn’t have that luxury. My baby was screaming like someone had set his tiny butt on fire."Okay, okay," I whispered, rocking him gently in my arms. "It's just bedtime, not the end of the world."He wasn’t buying it. He kicked her legs and wailed louder.Kael stretched his arms and looked at me from the corner of his eye. “He’s got lungs like her mother.”“Kael,” I growled through gritted teeth. “What are you even doing here?”“You don't want me here?” He asked. “I want you to help,” I frowned. “I know it is not your child but I will appreciate a little help or you could leave.”“I’m already helping,” he said, turning his head toward me again. “I’m staying out of your way.”“Wonderful. So helpful,” I muttered.I bounced him gently, side to side. He stopped for one second. I held my breath watching him, and just when I was about to let out a sigh o
