George POV

As much as I yearned to lodge a bullet straight into his skull, I knew such an act would be unwise; he possessed far greater strength than I.

Slowly, I lowered the gun to my side.

"I wasn't expecting you," I replied, struggling to conceal my anger.

"I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd say hi to my in-law," he retorted with a smirk, advancing towards me.

"Though it seems you're not too excited to see me. I would have sworn you were about to pull the trigger just now," he observed, studying me intently.

Had he caught on to what I was about to do? Was he preparing to attack?

The grip on my gun tightened as I mentally prepared myself for whatever would happen next.

If I were to die, I wouldn't go down without a fight.

But instead of launching an assault, he merely regarded me, his expression inscrutable, before erupting into laughter.

"I'm just kidding... You should see the look on your face right now," he exclaimed, patting my back.
