Chapter 34: Ain't making mistakes no more

last update publish date: 2026-07-28 21:52:29

(Elena's POV)

Ambrose and I carried Nicholas back to the car and drove fast to the nearest lodge we could find. Unlike the human world, we don't have hospitals you can rush to during an emergency; instead, each pack has a doctor, and we were too far from home.

After paying for the room to the receptionist, Ambrose and I carried Nicholas up the stairs to the room.

“Easy.” I muttered as we dropped him on the bed. Nicholas was already too weak to speak; he was silent all through the way here. A

{ Elena's POV } I gripped the steering wheel tighter as Lia’s voice filled my head.He caught you when you fell.“That doesn’t mean anything,” I muttered, my fingers flexing against the leather. “Anyone with reflexes would’ve done the same.”But he ran to you. He didn’t even hesitate.A muscle in my jaw twitched. I stared harder at the road.“That’s because he needs me. I’m useful to his mission. That’s all.”He took silver for you.My chest tightened so sharply I almost eased off the accelerator making the car slow down a little. I forced myself to keep breathing evenly. “He’s an Alpha. Protecting people is instinct. It doesn’t necessarily mean he cares.”Lia’s growl vibrated through my entire body.He pulled back every time. He said he didn’t want to make mistakes with you.I let out a short, humorless breath. My knuckles were already turning white from how hard I was gripping the steering wheel.“Because he doesn’t want to get attached. He said it himself, I was just a way in.”H

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 50: Make Her Hate Him

{ Third Person POV }~~Three days ago~~The room was dark except for the dim light glowing from the computer screen. Alisha sat on the couch, laptop on her lap while her long slender legs rested on the small table, her fingers moved fast on the keyword but she was just rotating from one website to another, looking for nothing in particular. Although she tried to work—she had lots of tasks from the bureau and her personal clients—but she just couldn't focus. Alisha sighed and slammed the laptop shut. Her attention was divided, her mind was elsewhere. She was starting to panic a bit but her wolf told her to be calm. But she couldn't.Andrew had kissed her goodbye at the office before leaving for a special assignment. That was around 3pm in the afternoon and he promised to be back by 8pm so they could spend the night together.“10:30!” Alisha muttered when she finally glanced at the wall clock. “Damn.” Seven good hours?!No calls. No text. No replies to the messages she sent him. Som

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 49: He's Using You

{ Elena's POV }I had read the text message three times last night when it came and still couldn't bring myself to believe what was written in it. I dropped the phone on the nightstand and rolled back to his arms, trying to hold on to any piece of warmth left from what we did earlier. I didn't want it ruined so soon.He asked what happened but I told him it was nothing. What could I say at that time? When I can't fully process what I just read.It can't be true. It just can't. And it better not be.But then, it was coming from Alisha, my most trusted source and secret ally, the head of my Intel team—a small group I had built to handle threats from personal enemies. And she never says anything with proof.I had sent a screenshot of the text to Ambrose before leaving this morning. Three bubbles came up immediately, then vanished, then appeared again.Ambrose: I don’t believe it.My fingers typed fast.Me: But it’s from Alisha.Ambrose: I still don’t.I wished I could be like him. Ambro

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 48: Quit trying.

{ Nicholas's POV }“Touch me. Please”Three words. That was all it took for every instinct in me to demand I pin her down, rip her clothes and take her until she couldn’t form another sentence but I forced myself to stay still.I needed to take things really slow with her. She had just started trusting me and trusting she could be loved for real this time and I don't want to ruin things. Even though it's so hard to not lose it being this close to your fated mate who doesn't even recognize you as theirs. It was the worst form of torture any wolf could face. Kyle was something else entirely—pacing and snarling inside me, slamming against my control, he was desperate to claim her right there and finish what we started.I stared at her back as she rolled to the other side. I noticed her shoulders go stiff the moment she clicked on the screen. Curiosity got the better of me. I shifted slightly, trying to see the screen. I couldn’t read the message, but I caught the name—Alisha. She had

WARNING ⚠️ THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS MATURE CONTENT. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK. { Elena's POV } “Elena?” Nicholas asked, his voice low.I swallowed. “Just… touch me.”His eyes darkened. “Where?”My eyes dropped down between my legs. I wanted him there, even though I was to embarrassed to say it. He searched my face for a second. “You sure?”“Yes.” I nodded, eagerly. My voice came out small. Something shifted in his expression softer, but heavier at the same time.He kissed me again, slower this time, while his hand slid down from my neck, over the lace of my singlet, his fingers squeezed with one of my nipples, it already hard. A small sound slipped out of me into the kiss. Then his hand went down to my shorts, under the hem. His palm was warm against my bare thigh. When his fingers brushed between my legs, he went still.“No underwear,” he said, his voice rough. My face burned. “I wasn’t expecting anyone.”“Fuck.” He made a deep sound and kissed me again, then he brought his fingers to

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 46: Touch Me, Please

{ Elena's POV } After having the maid bring my lunch up to my room—didn’t want to face any more weird confrontations with Ambrose—I was on my laptop all day, trying to get into the list of websites Alisha, my personal ally and head of my source team, gave me to look up the Black Daggers. I had tried searching on the internet but got nowhere. Every page either showed me things I already knew or just went blank. Someone had really taken their time wiping the Black Daggers off the internet. Left with no other choice, I called Alisha, but she was buried in her own problems and the rest of the team weren’t much better at hacking than me. No. I think I’m a little bit better. Just one tiny bit. So I decided to try myself. An hour passed. Two hours. After three hours, I gave up and shut my laptop in frustration. I couldn’t get past the security on any of the sites. They were stronger than anything I’d handled before. Now I truly regretted skipping those hacking classes. I let out a
