Elena's POV

Another growl thundered and I knew for sure something was definitely wrong else what would make my father summon the entire pack at this time of night.

“No…nothing should go wrong now, not after all that happened. Spare us Moon goddess.” I prayed silently.

Taking a deep breath, I started heading to the general living room, bracing up for whatever news was to be heard.

Walking down the last few steps, a deafening scream pierced my ears. “Ghost!” Latifa, a five year old Omega screamed, hugging her mother's legs, clearly frightened by the way I looked. All eyes turned to my direction.

Gosh! Latifa was a sweet kid and I'm so fond of her. I never planned to scare anyone, especially my little cutie.

“Elena!” My mother was the first to rush to my side. She hugged so tight I was getting short of air.

“Mum…you're going to hug me to death.

“I'm sorry darling”, she released me slowly. “Where were you? You blocked us out, we couldn't reach you, you hurt anywhere?” she said, her eyes scanning my body.

“I'm fine Mum.”

“You didn't seem fine when you ran off, what if someone had harmed you or worse you harmed yourself!”

“Impossible, you know I'm not stupid and I can protect myself.” I assured her. “Now, can anyone tell me what on Earth is going on here?”

My mother fell silent, everyone in the room went mute. The looks on their faces screamed something terrible had happened.

“Talk to me mum, what's happening.” I turned to face my mum, now sitting on a sofa, tears slid down her cheeks making me scared already.

How bad was it?

Sensing my mum won't be able to break the news to me, I confronted our pack beta immediately, leaving my mum's side. “Speak to me Elijah, what happened?”

He hesitated, then said “You just got back Lena, have some rest, I'm afraid the weight of the news might be too much for you to carry in this state.”

“You fucking kidding me, spill now!!” I fired back at him.

“The Umbral is missing.”

My eyes widened in total disbelief. “Whattt?”

The umbral was an ancient relic passed down by our ancestors from generation to generation. It signifies strength and a means of summoning our ancestors in times of great trouble. Crescent Moon won't be second strongest if not for the UMBRAL

The pack would be prone to attacks without the stone. If news goes out that the stone is missing…it's gonna be bloody.

“When did this happen?” I asked Elijah calmly, trying to bear the weight of the news.

“Right after all the wedding guests left, there was a security alert from a guard guiding the dungeons that the underground layer was broken into. The alpha and I rushed over only to find the stone missing.”

It's no news to Roseville that our pack held one of the most powerful stones, but the place where it was kept remained a secret even to pack members apart from the alpha, his family and the beta.

“This is bad, where's my father?”

“He lost control out of rage, currently locked up in his room.” Elijah sighed.

“And Ambrose?”

“Out in the woods with some warriors, on a search for you.”

“Seriously?”

“I already mindlinked him on the recent developments, he should be back any moment from now.”

“Okay good.”

Relax Elena, relax. I tried calming my mind, I couldn't think straight, my head was spinning.

“No need to worry, every corner of the pack is currently being searched, I believe the stone hasn't left the pack yet, someone is hiding it somewhere, we just have to look more.” Elijah said reassuring me the situation was under control.

“What if the stone has already left the pack?” I retorted.

“That's next to impossible.”

“But not impossible.”

“The security is very tight, and the thief won't be able to move the stone out of the pack without a concealing spell that was cast by a very strong witch.” Elijah explained.

“And only those on the inside know the exact location of the stone.” He continued.

“Exactly my point.”

My mother rose from the sofa, unease, tightening her posture. “What are you hinting at?”

“Think,” I said. "Only someone who knows their way around here can move the stone out smoothly with the security guards without noticing.”

Silence settled.

“But who could it be?” Elijah asked, looking skeptical.

I chuckled before continuing, but someone beat me to it.

“Melissa.” The door creaked open and Ambrose's cold voice rang out as he stepped inside.

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 71: We Could Regret This PART 2

{ Renaya’s POV }I pulled him in by the belt before I could talk myself out of it.The door of my hotel room slammed shut, and his mouth was on mine already, kissing me rough and certain, like he’d already decided there's no need to ask twice. Good. Because if he asked twice, I might remember I was supposed to be leaving Roseville with my pride intact.Wait…about Roseville? I had come here to shoot my last shot at Nicholas, and two weeks later I'm about to get fucked by his mate's brother. Wow.My back hit the bed, and his hand slid into my hair, tipping my head back, deepening the kiss. He tasted like alcohol and bad timing. I kissed him harder anyway.“Renaya,” he muttered. “Don’t make it soft,” I whispered against his mouth. “I don’t want soft.”Because soft would feel like comfort. Comfort would feel like something I could actually need, and I was not about to need Elena’s brother! His mouth moved to my jaw, then to my throat. My fingers dug into his shoulders as he kissed down

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 70: We Could Regret This

{ Ambrose’s POV }She pulled me by the belt, and I followed her like a man lost. The hallway blurred. Her room key flashed, then the door shut behind us with a soft click. She pulled me closer, and whatever rational line of thought I still had left disappeared. We landed on the bed the next second.I kissed her like I was starving, because I was. Mouth open, teeth catching her lower lip, my tongue sliding against hers until she moaned into me. I pushed my thigh between her legs and she immediately rolled her hips up, grinding against me with zero shame. The heat of her body through the last thin barrier of her shirt almost wrecked me.“Renaya,” I muttered.“Don’t make it soft,” she whispered against my mouth. “I don’t want soft.”Good. Because soft was not what was pounding through my blood.I dragged her shirt the rest of the way off, then her bra next. Her breasts spilled into my hands—those breasts I had eyed since the day I saw her—very full and warm, her nipples already tight. I

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 69: Make Me Forget Him.

{ Ambrose's POV }The meeting was one hell of its kind. Boring land and territory talks and the worst part, Alpha Cade didn't let me utter a single word. He let Elijah give all the contributions while I sat there like some dumb tyrant heir who's been forced to learn pack leadership. And I had some useful suggestions. But I guess I will keep them to myself and go have a drink with my old buddy, Julian. I called him earlier and he had picked a place for us to meet. Turns out Julian is still the same—money hungry and never satisfied. He was excited to help as long as the pay was good. I killed my car's engine after entering the parking area of Hudson Suites and Hotels, privately owned by one of the high ranking Alphas in Roseville. The female receptionist at the entrance greeted me with a charming smile which I didn't return. Wasn't it against work policy to flirt with customers? Julian said the bar for VIPs was on the second floor like I couldn't find my way around. Dude, this used t

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 68: Maybe I Kinda Like Him

{ Nicholas POV }Collective nods in agreement to my statement came from all three of them. “But how?” Ambrose asked, his brows drawn together . “this murder happened twenty five years ago. Like three years before Elena and I was born.” The disbelief in his voice made the whole thing sound impossible. But I'm certain there would be a way. There's always a way, you just have to look closer. “Don't Roseville keep a record of rogue attacks and the damages done?” Renaya asked, flopping backwards onto the couch. “I mean, every standard werewolf community does that.”“We do.” Elena countered cooly. “The Luna Council holds it, and it's practically locked down.”“Nothing is impossible.” The twins looked at me with that ‘you've lost it’ look. Now I'm starting to feel dumb.“Stop staring at me like that.”“Yeah.” Renaya cut in. “Why stare at him like that?”Ambrose gave her a quick look before answering. “The security is as tight as a vault. Alarm systems everywhere. High sensitivity cameras

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 67: Time’s Ticking

{ Nicholas’s POV } I felt it—the sharp turn in her mood like ten minutes later after she left downstairs, it hit me all the way from the living room, so I got dressed fast and took my usual route down to the courtyard. By the time she stormed out onto the porch, the look on her face already said the conversation had gone straight to hell. She saw me waiting and didn’t slow down, just walked past me like the innocent cobblestone ground itself had offended her. “Let’s get out of here.” I didn’t ask questions. Angry Elena didn’t need questions, she needed movement. I followed her to the car, got in, and let the silence and the low hum of the car's engine sit between us all the way to my place. When I pushed the apartment door open, the very last person I wanted to see was already making herself comfortable. Princess Renaya, in nothing but a sports bra and tiny bum shorts so tight her hips were on display, her hair was packed in a loose messy bun. She sat at the dining table with a

  • Marked by the moon—Rejected by my Alpha mate    CHAPTER 66: There’s No Stopping Me!

{ Elena’s POV }“You should get going.”Nicholas sat on my sofa in only his boxers, a book open in his hands like he was actually reading it.“Nope.” His voice sounded bored, but his eyes stayed glued on the page. “I’ll be waiting right here until you finish with Daddy.”I pulled my sleeveless beige crop top over my head and gave him a warning smile. “No, darling. I’m not doing shit with you today again.”He shut the book with a sharp snap, dropped it on the sofa, and gave me a flat look. “It’s about work. Get your mind out of the gutter.”I rolled my eyes and did the zipper of my trousers. “Oh whatever. Just hide. Like—not hide. Just stay quiet so you don’t get caught.”I didn’t wait for his answer. I stepped out, shut the door behind me, and started down the stairs with my pulse already climbing high, high up. Dad ignored me, like he acted like I wasn't even present in this mansion these last few days, now he wants to talk. Wow. Great. And let's hope it goes well. Gosh! Our relation
