Wedding Day

“Get up you lazy girl!!!,” I heard my mom scream at the top of her lungs.

I thought it was a dream because I was sure I wasn't at home. I shrugged turning to the other side of the bed, I believed I was still at Nicky's home. It must be the Trauma of my childhood, coming to my nightmare again.

My eyes snapped open as cold water splashed on my face and body. I jolted up from the bed, to meet those menacing brown eyes of Fiona Grey.

“Mother!!” I said, in a low voice. I can't believe I'm at the Grey Villa. In my old room, where all my bad memories started from.

“Mother? Who is your mother? Haven't I warned you not to call me that? Call me Madam Fiona. I am not your mother that abandoned you in the orphanage!!” Fiona spat, grabbing my ears.

I rubbed my eyes to wipe away the sleep, my head banging and I can't recall what had happened yesterday. How did I get into the Villa?

“Today is the day that you are finally of use to me and you are still asleep. Go dress up, today is your wedding day.” Fiona said, with a serious tone.

I felt like maybe I misheard the word wedding.

“Mo....Madam Fiona. I don't understand.” I said, trying to process this new information to my brain.

She grabbed me by the hand, squeezing it tightly. “Don't pretend like you didn't hear properly. Today is your wedding day, your suitor is already waiting for you at the church. This is 9:am and the ceremony starts at 10am. You're not getting out of this. Your future has been predetermined.” Fiona's Grey sneered, her eyes glinting with cruelty.

My legs were trembling with fear, and I could not control them. I slumped into the bed, grabbing my bed sheets.

I knew from her eyes that she meant every word she uttered. Just like when she forced me to go to a sign language school in London.

I grabbed onto her dress, regretting deeply why I came home last night. Or how did I get home?

“Please Ma, I can't get married yet. Am just 23. This is the peak of my career.” I said, in a low voice. My eyes are building up tears, I know how Fiona thinks. Her decision is final, even her husband can't stop it.

“You are 23 now, Aurora. It's time to repay us back from training you to the college level. You are not even my child, just an abandoned baby that I picked up.” Fiona ordered, without remorse in her voice.

This was the 3000th time that I heard those heart wrenching words from her. Like I forced her to pick me up?

My eyes filled with anger and I said to myself. “Repay you? By getting married to a man that I don't know?”

Fiona grabbed my hand lovingly, flashing fake smiles at me. “You are a good and obedient girl Aurora, just be the best daughter that you are and Marry him okay? He is very wealthy, he will give you everything you want. He just has a little flaw, he is deaf and dumb. But it doesn't matter, because you learnt sign language. Communicating with him won't be a problem okay?”

I yanked off her hands hearing that, I couldn't believe what I heard. Now I know why I was forced to attend sign language school.

“Mother!!” I said, with teary eyes.

“I can repay you for the care, in another way. I can't marry a stranger.”

She landed me a resounding slap, I held my cheeks as my tears fell.

“Aurora my dear, this has been decided you have no opinion.” She called me sweetly.

“Your dad's company is in ruins, we need this marriage to continue living like a socialite. Do you want us to end up in the street? To beg? My decision is final. Just obediently dress up. Your husband's mother sent a wedding gown for you. And it's exactly your size.”

Two of our maids rushed into my room, and they dragged me to the bathroom. They have been waiting for my mother's signal outside my room.

*********

“Miss Aurora, just wait inside the church. The guards are outside, don't worry you can't escape this wedding. Don't even think about it.” one of our family maids said, as she walked away leaving me alone at the church entrance.

I opened the church door, stepping into the big Catholic church. It was beautifully decorated, the walls glittering with golden ribbon. My wedding gown was very tight, the so-called mother-in-inlaw. Don't even care about my exact size. Everything seems like a nightmare that I can't wake up from. Just yesterday I was drinking with Nicky? Today I am getting married to a stranger. How I wish I knew, I would have ran away yesterday. How do I run away from here?

The Hall was beautiful, but the strange thing was that. There was no single soul in the whole church.

“This might be an opportunity for me to run away?” I muttered to myself.

I rushed to the back of the church, no one was there. It was totally empty like a graveyard. I went to the restroom, and I heard some noise inside.

I burst through the restroom, my heart racing with urgency. I had to find someone to help me escape the church.

As I scanned the room, my eyes met with the figure of a tall man standing by the male sink. I didn't read the sign outside, so I had entered the male restroom unknowingly. My heels clicking on the tiled floor as I stepped forward.

“Hello!! Hi!! Excuse me!!” I said, in a low tone, trying to get his attention.

But as the figure turned to face me, I felt my breath catch in my throat. His piercing brown eyes locked into mine, and I felt my breath getting stuck in my throat. I fucking lost my voice, for a mere stranger.

He was a gorgeous man, his chiseled features and jawline made him look like a model. His well arranged dark hair made him look like a foreign Kpop idol. His eyes really got me, it felt like he was staring into my soul.

There was a moment of silence between us, we just stared at each other. The sudden tension between us grew. His stare was more of a surprised look, he stared at me from head to toe. But it was a look of disgust and uncertainty which I don't.know why.

“I am not a pervert!! Don't look at me like that!!” I said, with a pleading voice. I felt an urge to explain myself so he wouldn't see me as a weird or insane lady. The wedding gown made me look even weirder, I think.

“Please help me escape the church, my parents are forcing me to marry an old and crippled man. Please help me get out of the church, I will repay you.”

  • Marriage of Deceit   TURNING TABLES

ANNE’S POVThey were actually trying to kiss!!They were really about to kiss? Why kiss? For what reason?Right there in her room, like no one existed but the two of them. My blood boiled. After everything!! everything!! I had done for Rylan… After five damn years of bending over backwards just to be seen by him, noticed. Worked my ass off!! Now he was all lovey-dovey with her? That little snake who walked into his life wearing a wedding dress and sad eyes?I stood frozen outside the cracked door, watching them. My stomach twisted in disgust. What does she even know about him? About what he's endured? She’s weak. She’s naive. She’s from them. She works with his mother. Why does he still trust her?And he… he’s mine. Or at least he should be mine before she showed up with her damn sign language and that pathetic act of “I care” look she gives when she thinks no one’s watching.I couldn’t take it anymore. I pushed open the door loud enough to announce myself, and the moment shattered.

  • Marriage of Deceit   A Mistake! !

AURORA – POVWe were breathing each other in, lips tangled in something that felt like drowning and gasping at the same time. Our mouths moved together-slow, deep, aching. Not rushed, just feeling each others breath. But then, like cold water pouring down my spine..it hit me!! Was i really supposed to be doing this? This isn't my mission!! Falling in love wasn't in my agenda. That voice that always told us the right thing ringed in my ear, “You shouldn’t be doing this Rora!! Not with him!! Not after everything. Not when you don't even know where you stood in his life.”I panicked.I shoved him away with both hands and immediately slapped him on the cheek before I even know what I was doing. The sound echoed through the quiet room like thunder. My hand stung instantly. My heart stopped as He fell flat on his butt, then he froze. His hand slowly rose to his cheek, eyes wide, and stunned—not from the pain, but from something deeper. It was the kind of look someone wears after they’ve b

  • Marriage of Deceit   FIRST REAL KISS

Continuation of Rylan’s POV.I opened Aurora's room door and shut it behind me.The words of the doctor still rang in my head, “She’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with her leg. If she’s still using those crutches, then it’s either for drama or for your attention.”I stood there frozen, watching her expression harden the moment the doctor left. She didn’t even look at me just sat there stiffly, her hands gripping the sides of the couch, knuckles white.I hated that she looked for me and I wasn't there. I hated myself more for even asking her if she was cosplaying.I moved closer. Slowly. Quietly. She finally turned her face, and her eyes met mine — not angry, not teary. Just… disappointed. The silence between us cracked something inside me.I picked up the notepad I’d replaced after she tore the last one, and quickly wrote:“I am sorry!! I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that.”She didn’t respond.I sat beside her, close but not too close. I wanted to reach out at least touch her

  • Marriage of Deceit   FAKING AN INJURY

RYLAN'S POVAsher opened the door and dropped her crutches beside me before she stepped in. My heart stopped.Crutches? What the hell happened? She never said a word to me, not when she came home drenched last week, not ever. It's like she’s made it her life’s mission to keep me in the dark. Maybe because she still doesn’t trust me. Not with her pain. Not with her truth.“You didn't tell me you're a teacher,” she said suddenly, a smile tugging at her lips like everything was fine.Fake smile. Like always.“You didn’t ask,” I wrote on my pad, eyes never leaving her face.I narrowed my eyes. “So what’s this then? Cosplay? What’s with the crutches?”Her smile vanished, replaced by a sharp glare. But she didn’t answer. She just turned away, gazing out the window like I wasn’t even there. Like I didn't exist.I tapped her arm and wrote again:“Is your tongue tied?”She snapped. “Rylan, you’ve been gone for a week. A full damn week. How would you know I hurt my leg?”Her voice cracked, eye

  • Marriage of Deceit   THE SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

A WEEK LaterAurora POV.“Hi Alex,” I greeted cheerfully as I stepped into the classroom. He was already by the door, waiting.“Aurora,” he signed quickly, worry etched on his face. Without hesitation, he rushed to me, his eyes scanning my body with concern.I forced a smile, trying to cover up the ache in my chest. He pointed to my crutches, then looked back at me. “What happened?” he signed. His face was all worried that it made my heart ache.“Umm...” I hesitated, then signed back with a small smile, “I fell down the stairs.”His expression tightened. “Why weren’t you more careful? Look at your legs, doesn’t it hurt?”“It’s okay,” I signed, still smiling. His worried look made me somehow happy. Creepy right? I was happy seeing his worried look. Because when I fell screaming, no one in the Grey's house had this look. No one gave me a little bit of care, no one felt pity for me. They just called the ambulance and left me behind. After I fell, I was very sure I saw someone running awa

  • Marriage of Deceit   THE Illegitimate DAUGHTERS

Raine POVWe pulled up to Marylee Alberto's mansion. Hanni stepped out first and opened the car door for me, carefully placing his arm above the frame to keep me from hitting my head.He held out his hand for support.I took it with a small smile. No matter how many times I pushed him away, he always showed up when it counted.“Miss Raine, she’s inside,” he said gently. “You think she’ll even answer us?” He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.I glanced at me, reading the nerves he tried to hide. “Are you nervous?”“Of course I am. You know how difficult she can be.”“Dont worry, have you forgotten it's me. I am not that easily defeated.” I said to him, with a smile. We gently walked me in, the maids in the mansion led us to the waiting room. It was very big and exquisite but it lacked the ancient rich decorations like the Blackwood's mansion. The Blackwood mansion has always been the most famous mansion in Ireland.Marylee came in, she was putting on an expensive golden dress, he
