Jared laughed as if he had just heard the funniest joke in the world. Give it back! What a joke. He eyed her body again with the same evil fire in his eyes.

"Be my woman and everything will be yours again."

"Dream on. If you don't give it back I'll make you both pay," She threatened.

Jared snorted, "How would you do that? Your brother has very little time to live. Do you value your pride more than his life?"

Ali felt like a bone got stuck in her throat and she couldn't refute it. What would she do now? Be this man's mistress and allow her stepmother and father to use her so heartlessly.

"I thought you were interested in Cheyenne, how did you switch interests so suddenly? Did Mary put you up to this?"

The rage in her eyes which had been doused by his words returned, and she glared at him with even more intensity.

"Wait until I am done with Joe's operation, I'll come back to haunt you". She said and walked away.

She hailed a cab and went to look for her father. As she stepped into the house, she found Mary sitting on the sofa while hugging Cheyenne. It seemed as though she was crying.

Seeing Ali back at the house when she had just left a few hours ago made Mary stand up and rush to her, "Have you changed your mind?"

"Where is Lucas?" Ali asked, addressing her father by his first name. She didn't come to hear Mary's nonsense but to recover her money and property.

Just then she saw Lucas coming down the stairs, he was dressed to go out and Ali knew he was going to the casino again. Since her mother's death, he has frequented it as if it were his second home.

"What did you do with my brother's property? Give me the money for the one you sold to Jared," she demanded, going straight to the point.

Lucas wore a confused expression on his face as if he didn't understand what Ali was talking about. "Property? Which property are you talking about? Didn't you seize all your mother's documents?"

Ali glared at her father for playing dumb with her. She knew she wouldn't be getting the money now and that she was wasting her time arguing with them.

Cheyenne, who had been told by her mother that Ali moved out, glared at her with hatred, "The property is in your husband's name already. Just talk to Jared, and he will agree to give you money for your brother's treatment. Why are you so stubborn? At this rate, you will not only lose those properties but also your precious brother."

Ali bit her lips, drawing blood, she nodded her head, making Cheyenne and Mary assume she had agreed, but her next voice plunged them into despair.

She said, "Since you like men older than you so much, I will give you one later. Just pray I raise the money for Joe or all of us will go to hell together," she turned and left after that.

She got a cab and requested to be taken to the hospital. On her way, she came across a club along the street.

The exterior of the club was designed extravagantly. Luxurious cars were parked around and inside the club and there were bouncers at the door.

Ali suddenly stopped the car and stepped out in front of the club. Her feet moved and took her into the club premises. She couldn't even tell why she was there when she was supposed to be looking for money.

When she realized herself and where she was, she turned to walk away but halted when she saw a man dressed in a blue suit pacing back and forth while talking to someone over the phone.

"Damn it. Where is Lilly? Gerald is here already and the party will begin soon. I told her not to leave because she would be serving the man, but she ran off with an unknown person. How do I fix this?" The man roared, frustration and fear in his voice.

Ali stood behind him eavesdropping on his conversation. When she heard him say he was offering 3 million to whoever would replace the Lilly girl, Ali gulped.

Three million for just a night. Was this an opportunity? She didn't know. Her phone beeped, and she looked at the time that was moving faster than she thought.

Although she was not willing, her brother's condition was pushing her to take a dangerous risk. If her company finds out about this, she will be fired.

She didn't have the luxury to think about it as the man was making his way back inside the club with his face looking like a mother hen.

"Please wait," Ali called out and ran after him.

The man turned, his expression cold, but when he saw Ali he became dumbstruck.

Ali was very lovely to look at, with a 6'7 feet height and a well-proportioned body that would make any male unable to move their eyes. Her porcelain skin was smooth, and her delicate appearance would make people stand up to fight for her.

 "Hello lovely, I am Barry..."

"Forget the formality, I can replace Lilly for you," Ali cut him off as she hurriedly said what she wanted to before she ended up changing her mind. She saw the man stare at her in surprise before narrowing his eyes.

She bit her lips, "I overheard your conversation on the phone. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but you were quite loud."

Barry made an o' sound before nodding. He asked, "How can I trust you? You haven't even told me your name yet," he looked at her skeptically.

"I can't tell you because, of some reasons, I am not a spy or whatever you are thinking. I am just forced to do this to raise money for my brother's treatment. He doesn't have time, and out of the three days I am given, a day is gone. I don't want to lose him, he is the only one I have left. Please help me."

Ali's heart shook, and she immediately stood straight like a rod and shifted away from Charles. "Are you alright?" Charles asked, staring at her with a look of worry. "Uh–yes I am," Ali breathed, looking down at the floor as she didn't want to look at Gerald. Why did he have to walk here at that very moment when Charles caught her? Gerald's eyes shifted to Charles, and the marketing director quickly said. "She slipped, and I caught her." "You should be careful with people you catch. You might end up falling harder than the person," Gerald said. It was a subtle threat, but Charles failed to understand it as he was unaware of the relationship between the new CEO and his newly appointed marketing assistant. Ali knew he was talking about her, even though he didn't spare her a glance. Her heart raced with him just standing there and talking. His aura seemed to have magnified, and she felt like she was a pauper standing before an emperor. A cruel, hot emperor. Charles chuckled afte

The hospital where Dr Wood worked was the biggest hospital in the country, and the hotel where Lilian had the fire accident belonged to an influential tycoon in the country. Whatever transpired in both of these big establishments was definitely not a coincidence. "I will drop by later before going back. I was going to propose to Ali yesterday," Dr Wood said. Mr Wood blinked in surprise at the information. "Oh, do you still–" "I don't care about that father," Dr Wood interrupted his father, knowing what the man wanted to say. He squashed the coffee cup with his palms and stood up, saying, "It's my fault for not paying and asking her to get the remaining. I acted too indifferent." "You didn't. Your brother needed you at that time, our family needed you," Mr Wood stated. His youngest son had somehow gotten involved with a con artist and was swindled a huge amount of money and, if not for his assistance, they would have ended up in the streets. Dr Wood shook his head with a bitte

It appeared that she slept so deeply last night that she failed to hear when he came in, but how did she end up outside? She had never sleepwalked before and would definitely not start that now, so the only explanation was that Gerald had moved her out last night. Everyone had the same conclusion, even though Gerald kept a poker face and acted like an oblivious child. "Did someone die that you women decided to stand at the door with gloomy faces?" Gerald asked, looking at his grandmother. He didn't spare Ali a glance, and it only made Ali feel worse because he was blatantly ignoring her after what he did. "I thought that someone indeed died; otherwise, why would your wife be sleeping on the floor, right outside your room?" Harriet replied unhappily. Gerald's lips quirked up, and he passed a glance at Ali before looking away. "How would I know? She must have crawled out here without realizing it. Her limbs are surprisingly all over the place." He perked Harriet and walked away.

He sighed, feeling a headache form. His grandmother had a way of throwing people into illusions, causing frustrating confusion. "How annoying," he tsked. "Hm, did you say something?" Barry asked, looking back at Gerald. Gerald glanced at him then closed his eyes but as soon as the darkness covered his vision, he saw a certain woman. She looked radiant and breathtakingly enchanting in the white wedding dress. Her naive, black, starry-like eyes and her innocent smile. The way she looked at him when he told her that she had signed a contract with the devil and how she stood her ground to not move during the wedding reception made him ponder if perhaps Ali had a split personality. She wasn't as weak as she appeared to be and seemed to have a mindset that worked differently from others. He couldn't tell if she was a white lotus or a stray cat. Thinking about it now, he realized that her emotions and actions sometimes clashed. Just like when Jared abducted her and he went to save

Gerald stared at Madeline with a cold, calculating smile. The room fell into an eerie silence, as Madeline suddenly turned quiet from shock after seeing the child. Her fear was etched across her face. She could not believe that Gerald had caught a hold of her family. She had painstakingly hidden them away, so how did he find them? She was sure they were safe, and no one would link them to her.Alan, the man who had been roughly dragged into the other room, looked startled and disoriented. His eyes darted around the room, glaring angrily at the men who pinned him to the chair and tied him up. He had been captured when he was returning from his meeting with a client in Mongolia. Madeline's son continued sobbing in the other room, and it brought tears to Madeleine's eyes that slipped down to her shirt. "Gerald, they did nothing wrong to you, I hurt you, please let them go. My son is just six years old," she struggled with the chair helplessly. Gerald pouted his lips and let the silen

It's been so long I last saw her," Gerald said, and resumed walking. His expression turned frostier even as he walked languidly through the corridor and halted before a steel door. The door was pushed back by William, and as he walked in, his eyes observed the condition of the room sharply, even under the scarce lighting. He was quick to pick out a flying insect in a corner of the room. It was a cockroach."I didn't remember giving you permission to have companions," Gerald said, looking in a particular direction. The light was turned on abruptly, and it shone directly on the face of the girl who sat directly opposite it and in the middle of the room. Her eyes were forced to close because of the light that fell directly on her face. "You didn't come to visit, I was lonely, and they came to keep me company," the girl said. Her voi
