“You’re a complete jerk, Liam! How dare you humiliate me in front of my colleagues,” Jane yelled after smashing a plate on Liam. Liam stood in shock, looking in disbelief, as he tried to register what Jane had done. “What the hell?!” he finally yelled back at her. “You’re a stupid, arrogant and disrespectful motherfucker, Liam,” Jane yelled as tears began to well in her eyes.“Don’t take me as your fucking fool. You don’t get to treat me like a dog, you bastard! You decide when to be mean or nice and expect me to just take it. Today, you treat me like a damn human, tomorrow you treat me like trash. I don’t care what’s going on with you, Liam, but don’t you ever think you can humiliate me!” Jane ranted, tears falling from her eyes out of anger. “Mr. Grain, this can’t possibly be real!!” Jane exclaimed as she barged into the office of her department boss. “This contains data from 2011 till date. How am I supposed to manually input all this data before tomorrow morning? This is ridiculous!” “Jane, I'm going to need you to quiet down,” Mark said, still furiously typing on his computer. “Besides, I didn’t give that order, if you have a problem with it, take it to the CEO or your husband, I presume,” he said, looking at her with a side glance. “But, you don’t see any problem with this request?” Jane asked, visibly agitated. The following day…The sound of an alarm blared in the large master bedroom and Jane rushed to her phone to turn it off. She could still vividly remember the feeling of awe when she saw the room that was hers to stay in. It was beyond exquisite. It had a rich golden hue with elegant bed curtains and luxurious furniture. Her clothes and belongings were already neatly arranged in this walk in closet and she wasn’t surprised. She had sent her bags to Liam’s house after the wedding and before their trip. This day, Jane had woken extra early to get to work before Liam. She hadn’t seen him since their last encounter in the living room and had spent the previous evening alone, exploring his huge mansion. Letting out another heavy sigh at Liam’s words, Jane picked up the keys he had given her, grabbed her bag and walked out of her room. It was a very bright day and the sun beat down mercilessly but it was bearable thanks to the ocean breeze that swept through the small island. The grand west trip had finally come to an end and Jane was more than ready to go back to her reality, where Liam was simply her boss. Looking back and admiring the view, Jane's hair was swept into different directions. She took a deep breath and finally boarded the huge private plane. Unlike the last time, Fiona and Chris were joining her and Liam. She was much more pleased with the arrangement than she let on. ONE WEEK LATER… Liam sat behind the large mahogany desk, shuffling through data and documents sprawled on his desk. Their trip was coming to an end now, and he wasn’t ecstatic about the work that had piled up for him to attend to. With the same deep frown etched on his face, Liam tried to focus on his work but kept getting distracted by the thought of one woman which made his frown deepen. Over the past week, he hadn’t seen Jane much. Whenever he retired to their room, she was either always with Erica or completely fast sleep. He found himself wondering how the trip was going for her. She had gone into the small towns and interacted with the locals. He hadn’t gotten the opportunity to ask how it went and he doubted he would have. They were scheduled to travel back the next day and Liam tried to focus on getting some work done. He had been tasked with cleaning his father's mess and knew it was going to be a long year. “Erica,” Liam called out, staring at the woman standing at the doorway with a protruding belly and a wide smile. “What are you doing?” “Oh hush Liam, I’m not here for you,” she said, before turning to Jane. “Chris told me you were both stuck in the storm. The weather around here can get very unpredictable.” Erica said with a sad expression in Jane's direction. “I came to check on my sister in law. Jane gasped, stumbling back in shock and confusion at what she just heard Liam say. “Vera?” Ethan called out. The room turned quiet and Jane knew they must have heard her. Not hesitating, she turned and ran back in the direction she had come from, into her room. ‘What did they mean by that?’ She thought, confusion clouding her thoughts. Then it finally dawned on her; there was more than they were letting on. Jane was not stupid. The revelation that Liam’s father must’ve had some shady deal with her dad, forcing them into this marriage was no surprise. Her father had told her he had gotten into debt and would need her to marry some rich shot and although unbelievable, Jane hadn’t questioned it much as she was given no choice. Then she decided then and there – she was going to find out the truth and was going to leave both families a gift for playing her. Let’s go. You might catch a cold,” Liam said dismissing her worries. He knew he had no explanation but the thought of someone following them was a bitt far-fetched. It could be anyone even though he knew the chances of someone passing by were low. Jane let out a sneeze thatt caught Liam’s attention. “You’ve caught a cold,” he said, his face etched with worry. Jane smiled sheepishly, “yeah, I don’t do well with the rain and cold,” she said again before letting out a sneeze.
