Ciara's Lamentations

It was yet another morning at the Victoria Memorial Hospital, Houston, Texas, where George was admitted after he survived a severe heart attack in his office. Luckily for him, doctor Escobar has been doing an impressive job so far, helping George restore his heartbeat to a normal breathing rate again.

Ciara was home alone, reminiscing about the embarrassment she went through at the hands of her father the previous night at the hospital. The event keeps playing in her head like a song.

Despite not getting enough sleep for the night, she was still up in her bed, glaring at the ceiling fan with seriousness. She spent more time communicating with the ceiling as though someone was there to respond to her.

"What exactly is going on in my life? Why is it so messed up? Did I do anything wrong? I missed my old self. My Father wasn't like this before. I can't tell what went wrong." Ciara asked herself. It was a question she had no answers to. That was the moment Ciara wished she had a friend to share her pain too. Perhaps, she won't have to share the pain alone.

Ciara's phone beeped amidst her deep thoughts. Out of excitement, she rushed to check her phone because she thought it was her father. That was the only reason she wanted to speak up.

To Ciara's disappointment, she discovered that it wasn't her father but the alarm clock she set the previous night. Ironically, Ciara woke up before the alarm. Something that hasn't happened before.

Angrily, she turned off the alarm notifications and hissed. "So disgusting. I thought it was something else. What sort of disappointment is that?"

"And why hasn't my father returned from the hospital yet? What seems to be the issue? Does he realize that he has a daughter at home that needs his presence?" Ciara asked herself rhetorically as her voice echoed back to you. She can't fathom how her Father would choose to prioritize George over her.

Ciara had the urge to call Kelly herself and find out why he had yet to return home, but on second thought, she didn't sound too desperate.

"The last time I checked, he was the one who offended me without a second thought when he treated me like a child in the presence of Derek and Dexter. He should be the one reaching out and not me. I still can't believe why he hasn't called yet. What the hell is he waiting for?" Ciara said to herself and dashed to the living room when she heard someone knocking at the door.

"Who could be that person? Could that be my father? I honestly don't think so. If it's truly my Father, he would have called me to notify me of his arrival," Ciara harbored the thought inside her head as she arrived in the living room.

"Who's that? If you want me to open the door for you, then you must identify yourself." She asked with a shaky voice while pressing the door handle.

She received no response. All she got in return was constant knocking on the door. For this reason, Ciara concluded that it wasn't her Father knocking.

"I know my father too well and what he's capable of doing. My Father won't come knocking before entering the house he pays the bills," Ciara mumbled in silence. She ensured that the person knocking didn't hear her speak.

"I guess there's only one way to find out," she muttered and slowly went to peep at the window area just to satisfy her curiosity.

Surprisingly, it wasn't Kelly, her Father that she expected. It turned out to be a different person entirely.

Ciara would have sworn that he wouldn't even show up at her place. The multiple questions running through her head were, "How did he locate this place? What the heck is ad doing here?"

In the process of trying to get the right answers to her question, the knock came in again. This time, it was accompanied by a baritone voice that almost pulled down the roof of the building. "I know you're in there. Please, come open the door for me,"

"Damnit! How did he see me from outside? All I did was limp," She bemoaned.

"I heard you, Ciara." The voice teased her and laughed. Unlike the gentleman, Ciara didn't find the laughter quite funny. She wasted no time to bash him. "That wasn't funny. You need to stop doing that,"

"Fine! I apologize.

I just want to talk.

Can you please let me in?" Like a perfect gentleman, he apologized from the outside. Ciara might not be with him, but she could tell that he was putting up a straight face.

Slowly and reluctantly, Ciara opened the door. Without waiting for him to speak, she launched the direct quotation at him. "What do you want?"

"My name's Derek, the second son of Mr. George," he wasn't done talking when Ciara interrupted him with an awkward gaze, "I already know who the fuck you are. I just want to know what you are doing here,"

"I will speak!

Can I at least come inside so we can talk about it?" Derek pleaded. He still wore his outfit from the previous night which made Ciara wonder if he truly went home or slept inside his car.

"And why do you think I should let you in? I don't even know you," she declined.

"But you just said you do know me.

I am Dexter's younger brother and Mr. George's son. What more information do you need?"

"And you think knowing your Father equally means knowing you? Please don't be a joke." She scoffed.

"How about we start by you telling me how you found your way to my house? Because I can't recall telling you. Wait a minute! Did you trail me down here? That's the only way you could find my home," Ciara quizzed Derek as though she were a private investigator

With her questions, she made the smart Derek look average.

"What are you scared of? I don't bite. Come on, take the envelope from me and stop acting like a baby already. An officer like you shouldn't be fidgeting. Have you forgotten what I told you about being courageous? You never can tell, it might be your letter of promotion," Lucas said. Romeo saw that as a trick and refused to fall for it. Without hesitation, he went on his knees immediately and pleaded for Lucas forgiveness. "I am sorry for the things I did to you. None of them were intentional. I've learned my lessons now. Please, I don't want to end up like Tony. I deserve a second chance,"The dismissal of Tony still lives rent-free in Romeo's head like a movie. He wouldn't want his situation to be like that. "You don't want to end up like Tony, right? That's quite ambitious if you ask me," Lucas scoffed."I don't know what you are talking about. I can't recall what happened to Tony. Can you please remind me?" "You dismissed him because of Dexter Cooper, sir. Not just that, he als

"He needs to reach out to his Father. His Father is not even aware that he's been arrested," Romeo pleaded. He was ready to scrub both knees on the tiled floor just to prove how serious he was. "Now this is getting more serious than I expected. How much did Dexter pay you to do this for him? Because I mean, you can't go this for a total stranger you know nothing about," Rhoda confronted Romeo with the disturbing question."Excuse me?" Romeo fumed. "What do you take me for? Do you think I'm one of those hungry-looking cops out there who would sell their dignity for money?" "Perhaps, she might be right. No one knows the reason you are doing this," A masculine voice interrupted them from close range. The voice sounded like Lucas. Where Romeo was, he prayed silently and wished it wasn't Lucas. Lucas, so far, has proved to be Romeo's greatest fear ever. He wasn't even confident enough to look into Lucas' eyes and speak to him directly, let alone confront him. "Good evening, Boss. You ar

  • Married To My Enemy; Loved By His Brother   The Dialogue

"I am listening to you Romeo. Since you got here, you haven't said anything worthy of my attention. I just hope I am not wasting my time with you? Because I was doing something significant before you showed up," Rhoda raised the concern. What Rhoda was concerned about was Romeo's lack of confidence. She didn't know him to be this shaky to the extent where he could barely speak fluently to save his life."Of course not. I assure you, you're not gonna regret having this conversation with me, and I am not even kidding," Romeo created the assurance. He paused afterward. Rhoda signaled him to speak further, but he missed the sign. Romeo made it seem like that both placed a bet on the last person to hold his breath for too long."What the fuck do you think you are doing? You've been quiet for some time now. I should have known that you were just wasting my time. What exactly do you want me to do for you? And I do hope it's something I can handle?" Rhoda asked for clarification. Romeo's a

Dexter struggled to keep up with Romeo's tempo. At the same time, he struggled to breathe properly. He hasn't seen anything like that before. The taunting from Romeo got into Dexter's head. But what was he going to do about it? Absolutely nothing! He was willing to endure the present struggle and hope for a better tomorrow. Dexter was quite aware of his numerous tortures in the hands of Jaguar and would rather not go back to that phase anymore. No one has ever inflicted so much pain on Dexter before since he was born. Not even his beloved Father or late mother.Jaguar treated Dexter as though Dexter were his biological son. It was an ugly experience for Dexter. He would give up an arm to forget about it. "Take a look at these bunch of keys. What do they mean to you? Do they ring a bell to you, or do you want me to spell it out so you would understand perfectly well what I am talking about?" Romeo asked, flashing the keys to the cell across Dexter's face. "They're the keys to y

  • Married To My Enemy; Loved By His Brother   Change Of Discomfort

"Welcome to your new cell, Dexter Cooper. I hope you do like it here. What the heck am I saying? Surely, are going to love it. I mean, it's surely better than your Father's palatial mansion, isn't it?" Romeo teased Dexter with a burst of wicked laughter after they arrived at a new cell. Looking at it alone, Dexter hated it. He chose not to say a word about it to avoid getting on Romeo's nerves. . It turns out that the former cell was more attractive and conducive than the new one Romeo brought Dexter to. The only difference there was Jaguar and his boys that made life a living hell for Dexter. Dexter spent lots of time scrutinizing in his new home. He was filled with regret and wished he hadn't wished for a transfer. But the thought of being beaten to death by Jaguar still scares him to death. "What are you going to say about this? You are taking too much time on something that isn't even worth that stress, and I don't like it. Are we going to spend the entire day talking about

"What do you expect me to do about this now? I still can't believe that are seriously seeking for my help. Everything is still a dream to me. Someone should please wake me up from the illusion before I go insane," Romeo said, slapping his chin to be certain he wasn't imagining things that aren't real. He still wasn't convinced about his decision yet. If Romeo was made to decide immediately without thinking about it, he would chose to walk away from the case just like every other cops. Not for once did Romeo liked Dexter. These two has got a lot of history together. Thinking about the nastiest things that Dexter had done in the past is making Romeo have a second guess. "Please, take me to a new cell. I might end up dead once you leave. These guys are threatened to torture me to death. Please come to my rescue. I don't wanna die," Dexter pleaded as hot tears rolled down his eyes. "You wanna be transferred to another cell? Now I see why you're being dealt with. What have you been
