"Don't waste your time coming to talk to me because I would never pay attention to someone like you. We both know you're not doing this from a place of sincerity. Honestly speaking, who in their right senses would trust the loyalty of a poor man?" Dexter giggled as he poked fun at Kelly without holding back.
For the second consecutive time, Dexter roasted Kelly like a barbecue chicken for trying to be supportive.
One would think that Kelly had offended Dexter before in the past and the latter was using the perfect opportunity to hit back at Dexter.
The way Dexter does it so effortlessly makes Kelly wonder if he studied naughtiness at the University.
"How dare you speak to my father in such a manner? Have you suddenly lost your mind?" Ciara raged as she stood up to confront Dexter.
That was the only time she ever spoke. She's been keeping quiet for a while but the moment Dexter decided to get cocky toward her father, she decided to retaliate by standing up against Dexter.
"Who's talking?
I can't find anyone.
Am I beginning to imagine things that aren't real?" Dexter muttered to himself as he narrowed his gaze around. He knew for sure that Ciara was the one speaking, yet he decided to play mind games to spite her.
"You can pretend not to see me for all you care, but the truth remains that you are so harsh and disrespectful. I doubt if any lady out there would agree to marry you for a million dollars," Ciara added. She was never going to let him get away with it.
"Oh, yeah
Look who we have here. Do you finally let yourself off the leash? For a second, I thought you weren't real," Dexter giggled.
Glancing on Ciara's body as though he were searching for something that was lost, he sniffed his nose and said. "I thought as much. I just knew something was oozing. I had no idea it was your hair. How long have you had this hair on? How can someone be poor and dirty at the same time?"
"Dexter, stop it right now,"
George ordered.
"Or what?
I thought we were having fun. Or aren't you entertained?" Dexter mocked his father with a burst of wicked laughter. George wasn't spared from Dexter's roasting for a second.
"Dexter, leave my office,"
George spoke calmly.
It would be difficult to tell if he was truly mad at Dexter or if he was just meditating.
"Sorry, I don't follow,
What did you just say?
Are you kicking me out of your office now?" Dexter stayed back to ask.
He didn't even try to leave.
"You heard me right.
Get the fuck out of my office before I call the cops to get you arrested!" George screamed his lungs out as he dismissed Dexter for the second time.
"Fine! I will leave
You don't have to scream like that, or else you are going to have a heart attack," Dexter accepted.
He walked to the doorway.
On the verge of leaving, he turned back and said to his father. "I want my bank restored, or else you are going to hear from me,"
"Is that a threat?
Are you practically threatening your father now?" George fumed.
"Threaten you?
Why would I want to do that?
I am just spitting the facts.
I don't care how you see it.
Let it be known that I don't bluff.
I meant every damn word I said and more," Dexter added and slammed the door against everyone before George had the opportunity to talk back.
"Come back here, Dexter
You dare not walk out on me like that,"
George commanded with a shout
A thousand times he screamed and not for once, did Dexter pay attention to George or come back to apologize
Buried his head to the ground, George mumbled in disbelief. "I can't believe this is happening to me. Where did I get it wrong?"
"Where did you get it wrong?
Come on, George. It wasn't your fault Dexter decided to be a jerk. You did your best to raise your son in the right way." Kelly stepped in to support his friend. He didn't capitalize on George's weakness and use it against him.
"Don't do that. Admit it, I failed as a father. I know exactly what you're doing. You are trying to hide the truth, so I don't feel bad about it, aren't you? If you are truly my friend, you are going to speak the truth to my face and stop comforting me with the lie," George frowned.
He refused to be moved by Kelly's praises.
Deep down, George, the fault was his. While growing up, he had always prioritized Dexter over his second son, Derek because he thought Dexter would turn out to be the face of the family
Unknown to him, Dexter had other plans that were different from what his father had wished for him. One of the plans includes Dexter being responsible for his personal life without having his father dictate everything about him.
"If you feel like giving up on Dexter, remember the promise you made to your late wife that you were going to ensure that you were going to be there for your sons regardless of the situation. Guess what? This just proved to be your biggest test ever. Are you going to give up on that?" Kelly added.
Despite George admitting his flaws, Kelly was never let down. He made a promise to George to always be a supportive friend, and he's not ready to break that promise anytime soon.
"Is he always like that?
Or he's just mad because he saw me here? I believe this may have something to do with the ugly encounter we had earlier," Ciara speculated. She kept talking to George, but the latter didn't even pay attention to her. She stopped talking to look at George. That was when she realized that something was wrong.
"Dad, see.
Something is wrong with your friend,"
Ciara raised the alarm immediately after she noticed how George was trying to catch his breath.
Kelly didn't even notice what was wrong until Ciara called his attention.
He had his mind focused elsewhere
"And you expect me to believe that crap? Come on, Dad. You should know me too well. I am not a kid anymore. I have outgrown that phase where little things can easily deceive me. To set the record straight, it's quite easier for me to sense when you are upset over the phone," Derek said, as he doubted George's explanation. His level of intelligence is so high and George is quite aware of that. "Derek, not now please," George called out in frustration. He knew the kind of son he had, he opted to prove stubborn. His obstinacy couldn't save him anymore due to Derek's resilience. The only option George had was to confess what happened just to Derek to take the pressure off his shoulders. "Get on with it, Dad. You're wasting too much time by playing mind games with me isn't going to solve anything. You know me too well. You know I am not going to let it slide for anything in this world," Derek giggled. He had fun penetrating his father. "You are not far from the truth, Derek. I am curre
"What are you still doing here? You are the last person I expected to see at that hospital," Kelly asked Dexter who was spotted at the reception with his head facing the ground. Dexter didn't say a word. It was difficult for Kelly to tell if Dexter ignored him or if the latter was just sleeping."Hey, I am talking to you. Aren't you listening to me right now? Or do I have to repeat myself before you understand what I am talking about?" Kelly tapped Dexter on the shoulder to get the latter's attention.Lifting his head, Dexter mumbled in pain. "What do you want from me this time? Why can't you just let me have a moment of peace? Isn't it obvious that I don't want to speak to you or anyone right now? I just want to be left alone."Dexter's eyes were reddish like a tomato. He sounded too calm, which was enough reason that he was sleeping and not ignoring Kelly. "I thought you went home last night? I had no idea you were still around the hospital. And why didn't you sleep inside your
"Why me?" Why do I get to answer that question?" Ciara frowned."Because he's your father and you both went outside together. How else do you want me to explain that to you?" Escobar fumed. He was already upset at George for playing with his intelligence. Now Ciara is about doing the same thing. Rather than responding to the question that was asked, Ciara looked at George. The awkward glance meant a lot, and George could see that. At that point, the future of George's health status dwells on Ciara's shoulders. Doctor Escobar watched In the utmost confusion. He is the only one who could barely understand what was happening. "You heard the doctor, didn't you? Go ahead and answer the damn question. And please stop staring at me like that. It's partially strange, seeing you do that," George consented bizarrely, despite knowing how powerful Ciara's response was. She chuckled. "Do you want to speak the truth and nothing else? That I can do without a second thought,""Proceed!. Why sp
"What exactly do you want from me, Ciara? You seem so desperate. Haven't you done enough damage already?" George finally spoke, but with a faint tone all thanks to the immense pressure from Ciara. He was sick and tired of hiding his frustration. Not only was Ciara able to successfully mount the immense pressure on George, but she also weakened his soul to the lowest and made him less of a man. "I want you to stay far away from my family as soon as possible. What the heck am I saying? I want that to take effect immediately. And of course, that includes my father because he's the reason I'm having this conversation with you. I would rather not see you talking to him ever again, and am I not even kidding about it," she warned George. "Stay away from your father? Are you kidding me? The truth is, what you don't know is bigger than you. A little advice for you, little one; back off the damn case if you don't know anything about it." George laughed until he started coughing and shedding
"Lying to you?"Why would I even do that? You should know me better than that. Don't you trust me already?" Kelly frowned. He tried to play the victim card. He had no idea that George was already two steps ahead of him."I see what you're doing. But trust me, I am not falling for it. I didn't call just to argue with you. I called to find out if you have arrived at my mansion yet. The doctor is on my neck. And why is it so difficult for you to show up with Dexter?" George spoke for the second time in a different tone of voice just to make Kelly understand that he wasn't kidding around. "I am sorry about the doctor. Try to buy yourself more time while I sort this out over where. You want to know the truth, don't you? Yes, I am currently in your home. I just arrived. I am waiting for someone to come open the door and let me in. Are you happy now?" Kelly answered. "Now that's what I am talking about. You should tell me about this before. You made me understand that you've arrived, an
"What did your friend say to you over the phone? The conversation wasn't on speaker, which made it difficult for me to hear him. Did he say he was coming with your son already? Please, I need to know," Doctor Escobar asked George in the ward. He was standing next to George as he witnessed everything that happened. George was shocked to the bone. He kept staring at his phone and wondered why Kelly had to end the phone in such a disrespectful manner. "That son of a bitch ended the call. What the fuck was he thinking? I don't want to believe he's messing with my head." "Mr. Cooper, we're running out of time. I just asked you a question, and you haven't responded yet. What did your friend say to you? Should we expect him in the next few minutes?" Escobar raised another question that was left unresponsive. That was the attitude that pushed his button and made him lose his cool. "You know, I do hate it when someone gives me a silent treatment and that's precisely what you are doing. Yo
