DENVER'S POV

I could’ve laughed. Hell, I almost did.

The look on Neriah’s face when she saw Gia standing beside me was worth every ounce of patience I’d exercised in bringing her here.

Her lips parted, her eyes wide and stormy with shock. Ashen. Like someone had snatched the ground from beneath her feet and forced her to stare at the truth for the first time in a long time.

Did she really think I was going to marry her? After all that? After she’d been tossed out like yesterday’s trash by my brother?

I wanted her to feel that sting. Not because I hate her. But because I need her to know that this isn’t a fairytale.

I'm not a rebound. I'm not her second chance.

And most of all, I'm not doing this for love.

It's why I made sure that most important rule was added to the contract. I'm glad she shares the same opinion.
