Mia's POV:

Kelly was in awe. “Brilliant. I have to do this someday.” She agreed.

“Honey…” Craig said in a playful tone.

“Oh, please, I know you'll love it.” She said, patting his chest. We conversed some more, moving around the room to talk to the others.

We were served glasses of champagne. When it was already past sunset, we sat outside by the wooden benches surrounding a very large tree. Fairy lights were hung up around it, creating a sort of fairy-like feel.

We sat down.

“How much did you pay for this?” Jace asked, sitting next to me. “Lunch, champagne, and dinner? I've never been to any pottery class that had all these extra benefits.”

“You've never been to a couple pottery class.” I corrected him, folding a napkin on my lap.

“I’m pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.” Jace continued.

“Well, since we have all this, why don't we enjoy it without all your thinking?” I said to him. I lifted a brow at him.

Jace placed his hands on my thigh and offered me a smile. “I'm enjoying i

Mia's POV:“So, you ready for it?” Mikey asked.“I wouldn't be here if I wasn't,” Jackson said, confidently.“I like that. These are my guys; Shark and Speedy.” Mikey said introducing the people standing next to him. “Speedy is in the race. Shark helps me around so stuff goes according to plan.”Jackson shook Shark and Speedy’s hands. “It's nice to meet you. I hope we have a good race,” he said to Speedy.Speedy chuckled. “You're not going to race me. Well, unless you can beat the other two contenders. Then.” He let out a depreciating laugh. One that I knew meant he was sure Jackson wouldn't make it to the final to race him. Speedy was sure he would beat his own two racers.I tightened my hand around Jackson's hand and smiled sweetly. “With all due respect, you're going to chew and swallow your words, along with the dust and fumes from his car,” I said.Speedy lowered his gaze to meet mine. “We'll see about that pretty lady.”I looked him square in the eyes and smiled. “See you on the

Mia's POV:“I just need to find a vase to put these real quick. Come on in.” Jackson walked away with the bouquet.I walked slowly into the penthouse. Unlike Jace's modern and minimalist-looking house, Jackson's house had this old-money vibe. There were a lot of browns and earthy tones. There were pictures of ships on the wall, as well as cars and bikes. I smiled. I'd picked the right date for sure.Hopefully, he was as good as I thought he was. When he emerged, I was looking at the picture of him from a horse racing competition. He was just a boy. “You were very handsome,” I commented, turning to smile at him.His hair was slightly combed back but still messy. Messy, in a good way. He looked at me with those green eyes. I wondered if I should have worn the emerald dress for this date instead. But, I decided that it would have been too elegant for what we were about to do.“When you say it like that, I kind of feel you think I don't look as good anymore.” He commented playfully.“You

Mia's POV:“This better not be some bullshit speech about the power of friendship and being there. Or else, I'm going to kick you out of your own house.” Melanie threatened. We laughed. “You gave me somewhere to stay after my life fell upside down. You helped me get a job. You stopped me from being depressed by giving me something to look forward to. You're my superhero, Mels.”“I know. I'm cool, aren't I?” She said, batting her lashes.I pushed her towards our stools where our breakfast was still waiting on pretty plates. “Our breakfast is probably already cold.” I said. “Aren't you going to work today?”She shook her head. “I gave Cotton my shift. I think she needs more money than she's letting on. Her mother was sick and I guess that they have a lot of hospital debt to pay back.”“Hm, so free day today,” I said, digging in.“Yeah. I figured that I'd just do some meal prep for next week. That way, neither of us will have to do any cooking unless necessary. We would just toss most of

Mia's POV:Jace didn't even glance in my direction when he said, “I know she is. And I'm lucky to have her.”Kelly let out a small squeal. “That's so sweet. Young love has to be one of the best things to ever happen.” She gushed.“You're not much older,” I reminded her. I suspected she was probably in her thirties, seven to eleven years older, no more. “You're still young.”“It feels like you're gaslighting me.” She said but she smiled. “Goodnight, Mia.”“Goodnight, Kelly, and you too, Craig,” I said. We watched them leave first, getting into their white car and driving off.“So, where to?” Jace asked as we walked to where my car was parked. I didn't straighten. I leaned on him, my head resting on his arm.I hummed. “Home, of course. I'm so tired.” I replied.“Did you have fun?” He asked, unlocking the door for me.I nodded. “So much fun. I didn't expect a pottery class to be like this. It's a pleasant surprise. Never judge things from how I perceive things.”“I'm glad you did.” He sa

Mia's POV:Did Jace turn on flirting mode when he agreed to go out with me? He was usually playful and all that but now, he was making me feel things I haven't felt in a while. It was probably the mate bond.“Just keep going. And even if you make mistakes, it's okay. You can always fix them.” The instructor said, moving around. She smiled contently when she got to us. There was a photographer taking pictures.“Are we almost through?” I asked softly. He grabbed my fingers and lifted my hand, gently guiding me to place them on the sides of the vase we were making.“Apply a little pressure. Like this.” He said. He pushed my fingers into the clay and as the wheel spun it around, the vase began to thin, growing longer.“Wow…” I let out. Jace was doing most of the work honestly. I was just letting him lead the way.“I'll just…” He tried to reach lower but his chest pressed into my back even more. “Can you dip your fingers in the water?”“Oh, yes, okay.” I did as he said. He brought my hand
