LOGINALPHA BRYN'S POV I remained on the bare floor for a long while, my gaze was fixed at a spot, staring at nothing exactly. While my thoughts? My thoughts were wandering. It wasn't so weak in its knees, just the way I was. I wandered around, alongside Gamma Ralph, the Delta and every other soldier that was frantically searching for Luncian's murderer. They urged me over and over again to take shelter somewhere else. Multiple times they tried to pull me off from the ground, but I wasn't having it. Luncian was dead. It rang a bell in my head over and over again. Luncian was dead, Luncian was about to make a crucial statement, but he lost his life before he could say anything worthwhile. It only proved a point, he was never meant to speak. He probably knew way too much. Maybe everything we needed to save face, but someone wasn't having that.
KNOX'S POV I was slowly losing my mind, actually we all are.Me and Sable, it seemed like we were searching for answers from places we should not. I watched Sable's expression for a long while and I wondered if it was right of me to drag her into all of this.At least not in her state. But she'd looked even more terrible than she does now when I said nothing to her. The last thing I wanted was to leave her in the dark. Not for any fucking reason. She hated it, she clearly did. And as much as i wanted to protect her peace, i couldn't figure out what way was safer to do that. I finally decided I wasn't gonna bore her any further with my thought, maybe I should try to figure it all out by myself. I love picking myself up from the chair, if it meant heading back to the North pole, I was sure ready to do that.Or maybe all I needed to do was speak to Ysoria.
SABLE'S POV We were back at my chamber in no time and I sat on a cushion waiting patiently for a verdict. Or maybe not. But I needed something, anything. I needed Knox to speak, but he remained silent only flipping a strange stone in his hand over and over again. I stared at it from a distance, but everything about it felt so wrong. I could feel my pores rising whenever I stared at it for too long. It was giving off the worst kind of energy ever. “Could you at least tell me what that is?” I finally asked impatiently. Knox looked towards me, and then at the stone. His lips sat slightly parted and he instinctively put it away the moment he realized my finger was pointing towards it. “Ohh shit.” He mumbled almost inaudibly. “Are you hiding it away from me?” I asked with a frown on my face.“Ohh now, of course not.” Knox pulled himself off the chair
SABLE'S POV I stood up to leave after what felt like eternity, with me staring at Ysoria and partly waiting on her to say a word. Anything that I could hold onto until I really got the answers I wanted. But like always, she said nothing. She only stared at me with a faint smile tugged by the side of her lips. I couldn't stay back any longer, I couldn't have her mock me when I could easily walk away. Maybe I was a bit too desperate. Well, yeah I was really desperate. Only desperation would lead me out to Ysoria's chamber without thinking it through a thousand times. Maybe I did think it through, but I was trying to be a bit positive. I'd imagined Ysoria wouldn't be too rigid considering it's got to do with her son. I'd assumed she must have been having some sort of sober reflection and maybe she would be willing to come clean with me. But yet again, I happened to b
KNOX'S POVI got to the Gamma's quarters not long after and I began my search for Luncian. At first, I'd assumed he would be at Gamma Ralph's office, but he wasn't. I scanned around it, but Luncian wasn't in there. I looked through corners, the creepy old man would have probably folded himself into a corner doing whatever creepy stuff creepy people do, but he wasn't anywhere in there. Not in the inner court, nor the outer. All I saw that could tell he might actually have been in there not too long ago were the tea cups seated beside a sofa. I stared at the two cups, one empty and the other half full. I pressed my palm against it, but it had lost its steam.I concluded within myself, he'd been out of that room for at least an hour.I strolled into the test lab where I assumed he might be, but I was met with new faces. Probably the new recruit who was actively working on the
KNOX'S POV I slipped into my car zooming off the moment I hit the chair. As I drove on, my gaze remained fixed on the stone as I held it out. It had its answers right on it all along. It was staring at me, but I mistook it for the stone's design. It wasn't, it was the souls of the deceased engraved on it and forming a faint marking on the stone. How didn't I realize that, it was right in front of me. The answers I'd been searching frantically for about the black stone. I sped up my car's ignition, my thoughts far off in the Den, at my chamber, right where the second stone laid. There were fourteen markings on this rock, meaning fourteen soldiers got sealed off in here and probably sixteen would be on the other. I wasn't necessarily driving back to the Den to do a head count, it was far from that. The deed had been done. Probably, all I could do about the
CHAPTER 4: ComplicationsSable's POVThe air vanished from my lungs the moment I met his eyes.. It wasn't just his size though he was enormous. It wasn't even the inhuman, gold-flecked glow in his eyes, though that was seriously freaky. It was the sheer crushing weight of his presence that hit me
~SableBefore I could even process the noise.. the room was full of them... large grim-faced men in suits that did nothing to hide their thick necks and rude attitudes.I gasped, scrambling upright and clutching the soft white sheet to my chest. It was the only thing between me and total nudity.“W
~SableUp close with the stranger, the shadows melted away and my bravado almost did too.Holy shit..!The man was… fucking handsome! Like, stop-your-heart-and-then-kick-it-into-overdrive handsome. He was older, maybe early forties with little crinkles at the corners of his eyes that suggested he’
~Sable“Sable! You get your scrawny ass back here, you little fucking shit! What the fuck are you up to now!”The scream rang far behind me into the night as I ran.The night was harshly cold with the cold air filling my lungs at every gasp but it was nothing compared to the sound of Corvin’s voice
