"She cannot go with me, mother. The place is in the suburbs. It could be dangerous for her. She doesn't have to go with me," I told my mother as we sat eating dinner in the living room. I had no idea why she was insisting that Bruna should follow me to my campaign site. She should have come with me if she wasn't pregnant. A lot of people would be there and I didn't want anything happening to her, thereby affecting my child.

"I'm not complaining, though,” I fixed my gaze on her. She shoved a piece of watermelon in her mouth and swallowed it in just two bites. “This will be important to me. I need to be by your side to see how this is done, in case I need to give a speech about your victory someday.”

She smiled and leaned into her seat.

"She needs to be in these places, Caden. You have to go with her,” she said.

She made me marry her and now she was going to dictate how I lived with her. She agreed with everything that came out of the girl's mouth.
