“One, two, three.”

The camera flashed again, and another round of applause followed almost immediately. I kept the smile on my face even though my cheeks already hurt from forcing it for hours. Around us, guests moved through the grand ballroom laughing, drinking expensive champagne, and celebrating what they believed was a perfect love story.

The photographer lowered his camera with a satisfied grin before motioning for us to stay still. “I got one more,” he said excitedly. “Smile for me, baby.”

Before I could react, Edris pulled me closer against him, one hand settling naturally around my waist. The warmth of his body pressed against mine through the fabric of my wedding dress while his expensive cologne surrounded me.

“You look beautiful today,” he murmured near my ear. “I’m glad I married you.”

A few people nearby laughed at his words while others stared at us with obvious envy. To everyone in this room, we looked like two people hopelessly in love.

I smiled again because that was exactly what they expected from me.

The perfect bride.

The lucky woman who had just married Italy’s most desired billionaire.

If only they knew the truth.

If only they knew I had spent the last three years waiting for this exact moment.

“You’re zoning out again,” Sofia whispered beside me when the photographer finally stepped away. “At least pretend you’re enjoying marrying the hottest man in Florence.”

I laughed quietly, mostly for her sake, but Edris noticed it immediately. His eyes moved toward me again, soft enough to make something uncomfortable twist inside my chest.

That was the problem with Edris. Nothing about him felt like the monster I had imagined all these years, not the way he looked at me or the way he touched me.

He had spent months loving me so carefully that sometimes I almost forgot why I had come into his life in the first place.

The reception continued late into the night inside the Veltri estate, which overlooked the glowing hills of Florence. Politicians, business moguls, models, and celebrities filled the ballroom, all eager to congratulate Edris Veltri on finally getting married. He handled every conversation effortlessly, calm and untouchable as always, but no matter who spoke to him, his attention kept drifting back to me like I was the only person that mattered in the room.

The thought made my stomach tighten painfully.

By the time the final guests began leaving, exhaustion hung heavily over the entire estate. My heels hurt, my head ached from smiling, and the weight of what I planned to do that night sat heavily in my chest.

Edris kept his hand against my back as we entered the private elevator leading upstairs. The silence between us wasn’t awkward. If anything, it felt intimate.

“You survived an Italian wedding,” he said with a faint smile. “That alone deserves respect.”

I let out a quiet laugh, and his expression softened instantly at the sound. Then he leaned down and pressed a slow kiss against my temple.

“You’re really my wife now.”

For one dangerous second, guilt flickered through me before I remembered Julian, my twin brother.

Blood on the ground.

Rain pouring endlessly.

A gun in Edris Veltri’s hand.

The guilt disappeared immediately.

When the elevator doors opened, a trail of rose petals stretched across the floor leading directly toward the bedroom. Candles flickered softly around the suite while red roses decorated the bed in the shape of a heart. The entire room looked beautiful enough to belong in a romance film.

It almost made me laugh.

“I’ll be back in a minute,” Edris said as he loosened his tie and disappeared into the bathroom.

The second the door closed behind him, my smile vanished completely.

Slowly, I reached beneath the pillow and wrapped my fingers around the knife I had hidden there earlier.

Cold metal pressed against my palm, grounding me instantly.

This was why I had come here. I hadn’t come for love or marriage. I had come for revenge.

By the time Edris walked back into the room, I was already lying across the bed wearing the black and red silk nightgown he had bought for me during our trip to Milan weeks earlier.

His steps slowed immediately.

For the first time all night, he actually looked distracted.

A rose rested between his teeth as he approached the bed slowly, amusement dancing in his dark eyes.

“You’re trying to kill me tonight, sweetheart.”

If only he knew how true that was.

I watched him climb onto the bed until he hovered over me, his hands sliding carefully along my thighs. Every touch was slow, patient, almost worshipful as if I were something precious to him.

God, I hated how much that affected me.

“Edris,” I whispered.

His lips brushed against my jaw. “Hm?”

I stared at him for a few seconds before speaking again.

“Is there anything you’re hiding from me?”

The mood in the room changed instantly.

His movements stopped completely, and the teasing expression on his face slowly faded. “What do you mean by that?”

My fingers tightened around the knife hidden beneath the sheets.

“Why did you kill your best friend, Julian Devereux?”

For a moment, Edris stared at me like he hadn’t heard the question properly.

“What?”

The confusion on his face almost looked real.

The next second, I drove the knife into him.

Edris gasped sharply as the blade sank near his shoulder, close enough to his chest to make blood spread across his white shirt almost immediately. He stumbled backward off the bed, shock written all over his face as he grabbed the wound instinctively.

I climbed off the bed, unable to look away from the knife protruding from Edris’s chest. After three years of grief and rage, I had finally done it.

“Go to hell, you liar.”

I was standing under the shower when the bathroom door opened. I turned around, already knowing it was Edris, but I still couldn’t help laughing when I saw him.“Oh my God, Edris!” I burst out laughing when I saw him standing there completely naked. He looked at me like there was nothing strange about it and walked toward me.“What?” he asked.“You’re seriously naked?”He laughed and stepped closer. “But this is what you wanted.”I rolled my eyes, still laughing. “Obviously.”“Then why are you acting surprised?”“Because I didn’t think you’d actually walk in here like that, naked,” I said, pointing at his dick.“Well, I’m here now.”He stepped under the shower with me. The warm water poured over both of us, soaking our hair and skin. Water slid down his face, over his neck, and down his chest. My own hair was dripping down my back, and I wiped the water from my eyes.Edris moved closer until his body was pressed against mine.“Still laughing?” he asked.“Hmmm, probably.”His hands set

“What are you doing?” I asked.“Wait and see,” Edris replied.A lively song suddenly started playing, and I stared at him when he started moving his shoulders to the beat.I burst out laughing. “Edris!”He looked at me innocently. “What?”“Are you actually dancing?”He nodded seriously. “Yes.”I covered my mouth, trying to hold back another laugh. “I can’t believe this.”He walked toward me, still moving to the music. “What’s wrong with my dancing?”“Everything,” I said, laughing.Edris shook his head. “You’re just jealous because I dance better than you.”I stared at him. “You haven’t even seen me dance.”“Exactly, that's why I’m already better.”I couldn’t stop laughing. “You’re so funny.”Edris placed a hand over his chest as if I’d deeply offended him. “Funny? I’m giving you a private performance, and that’s how you repay me?”I laughed. “Private performance? Please stop before I embarrass you.”“You can’t embarrass me,” Edris said confidently.“Are you sure?”“Yeah, very sure.”H

The room looked nothing like the one I had left earlier.A trail of rose petals led toward the bed, where more petals had been arranged across the white sheets. Four words stood out among them, impossible to miss.I LOVE YOU, JULIANA.Candles were placed around the room, and fairy lights were wrapped around the headboard. A small table waited beside the window with two glasses, a chilled bottle of champagne, and a plate of desserts.I turned around slowly and found Edris standing by the door, watching me with a smile. I stared back at everything in silence. I couldn’t remember the last time someone had put this much thought into making me feel special. My fingers brushed over one of the petals before I asked Edris, “You planned all of this?”Edris replied. “I wanted you to come home to something you’d remember.”I looked back at the bed, then at the flowers surrounding the room. “Why?”Edris walked closer to me. “Because I wanted you to have something beautiful to come back to.”I l

I woke up to the feeling of being carried. For a few seconds, I didn’t understand what was happening. My eyes were still sleepy, and all I could feel was the gentle movement around me. Then I opened my eyes properly and found Edris looking down at me.“Edris?” I murmured, still half-asleep.He looked down at me with a small smile. “You’re awake.”I blinked and looked around before realizing we weren’t on the yacht anymore. Edris was carrying me toward our villa, and I immediately lifted my head from his chest.“What are you doing?” I asked.“I’m taking you to the room,” Edris replied.I stared at him. “Put me down.”“No, he said, I'm not doing that.”“Edris, I’m awake. You can put me down now.”“I know you’re awake,” he replied, completely unbothered.“Then you can put me down.”Edris shook his head. “No, but you're still feeling sleepy.”I stared at him in disbelief. “I can walk, Edris, I'm not.”“I know you can,” he said, adjusting his hold on me. “But you were sleeping so peacefull

After lunch, we walked back toward the dock, and Edris stopped at a small stand selling handmade souvenirs. He picked up a little wooden carving and turned it around in his hand.“What do you think?”I leaned closer. “It’s cute.”“Just cute?”“What do you want me to say?”“That it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen.”I laughed. “You’re asking too much.”He bought it anyway and handed it to me. “Then I’ll settle for cute.”I looked at the little carving in my palm and smiled. “You’re getting me too many things.”“That’s how I want it.”“Why?”“Because I like seeing you happy.”I looked at him, and for a moment, I didn’t know what to say. Instead, I slipped my hand into his as we continued toward the dock.By the time we reached the water, Edris was carrying most of the bags while I held onto the few things I had kept for myself. The boat that had brought us earlier was waiting near the dock. One of the men helped us step aboard and took the bags from Edris.I sat down on one o

I woke up to the smell of coffee drifting into the room. For a few seconds, I stayed under the duvet, trying to remember where I was. Then I remembered the night before and immediately opened my eyes. I didn’t get up immediately. My mind went straight back to everything that had happened between Edris and me the night before. I smiled before opening my eyes. When I did, I saw Edris standing on the terrace with two cups in his hands. He noticed me staring and smiled.“Good morning.”I pushed myself up against the pillows. “You made coffee?”“Yeah, I did.”I took the cup from him. “Maybe you’re not completely useless.”He laughed. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”“Don’t get used to it.”He sat on the edge of the bed and looked at me. “Get ready.”I took a sip of coffee. “Huh! For what?”“Today, we’re exploring the island.”I raised an eyebrow. “We’re leaving the resort again?”“Yeah, for a few hours.”I smiled. “And what exactly are we doing today?”“We’ll walk around, eat something,

I didn’t move, I couldn’t. It felt like I’d been caught red-handed at a crime scene, unsure whether to run or stay where I was.
