Chapter 7: Competition

Veena woke up finding herself in an unfamiliar room. Where is she? The last time she remembered was fainting from Ashley’s constant attacks. She can still feel the body pains that she received from every blow. The bright sunlight was glowing on to her. She must’ve slept for a long time.

“How are you feeling?” she looked up to see the man who helped her last night. It was Lois.

“I can still feel the body pains.” she answered hoarsely. He offered her a drink and she thanked him, drowning it down to give moisture to her dry throat.

“The Harrisons bailed her out. Do you want to press charges on her?” he asked.

“No. Going against them is useless.” She replied. “I’m sorry but are you Aloysius Rossenov?.”

“Yes, Lois is my nickname.” he answered.

Lois noticed her uneasiness and he wanted to reassure her that he is not a threat. Abby barged into the room and apologized right away for disturbing them.

“Miss Harrison, are you alright?” Abby asked.

She looked over to the man who helped her. Soon the tension in her body relaxed. He seems to be a good guy. However she didn’t want to trouble him when he was in the middle of a meeting.

“I'm good, Abby.” she answered then stood up from the bed and faced Lois. “Thank you for helping me I appreciate it. If only I can pay you back.”

He took out a card with his number on it. “You will repay me back tomorrow at the Civil Affair office.”

"What are we going to do at the Civil Affairs? Can you tell me some information or anything that is expected to do there?"

"You will know soon, Veena." Lois smiled.

He left the apartment and Veena lied down, resting.

The news of the scandalous fight was plastered everywhere. She read an article from a famous gossip magazine. Thankfully most of them weren’t biased and questioned Ashley’s outrageous actions.

Veena was disappointed of Ashley. As the CEO of Fontana she is also risking the the company's reputation. Who would want to do business with an unstable and crazy leader?

Her phone rang and she rolled her eyes when Helen called. What is it now?

“Veena! I demand you to apologize to Ashley right now and clear her name!"

Her eyes were brewing in anger. There is no way she’s going to do that.

“I’m sorry you got the wrong person. Please don’t ever disturb me again. I refuse to be Ashley's mentor and if she won't get her self straight then Fontana will burn in her hands. Also don’t meddle into my affairs or demand something from me.”

"Oh in addition to that, I’ll be entering the fashion industry again. Let’s see if Ashley can beat me.” She added.

“What the!? You promised not to do anything!” Helen growled angrily.

“I never promised anything, Helen. You only told me to never take back Fontana and I followed through. If I can’t have my Fontana then I’ll just make another company to compete with Fontana.”

She stared at her phone blankly when Helen suddenly ended the call.

She’s been idling around for a while and decided to do something about her plans. The plans to make Fontana fall to the brink. Before she could do that doing some research is a must.

“Abby!” she called out. The assistant came in immediately.

“How can I help you, Miss Harrison?”

“I want to go to Bayfair.” Abby was startled from her request.

"But your injuries..."

"It doesn't hurt anymore. Please, I really want to go." Veena begged.

“I-I should ask my boss about it or Felix.” Just in time Felix arrived carrying few bags.

“Good day, Miss Harrison. My boss bought you some clothes and he won’t be accepting any complaints.” Felix said.

“That man…will he ever stop?” she frowned. “Can I go to Bayfair, Felix?” Veena asked.

“Sure. Just be careful that place is a bit too far from Geneva. Keep Abby by your side just in case your injury gets worse.”

Veena nodded to Abby.

“Thank you, I’ll take care of Veena well.” Abby said. She nodded slightly to Felix and he gave her a small smile. A smile that made her blush like a teenager.

Veena was smiling like a cheshire cat to Abby. She saw the way the two looked at each other a while ago. Should she do some match making magic between them?

Once Felix left the apartment she turned to her assistant.

"What do you think of Felix?" she asked.

Abby stiffened from the question. The assistant did not expect that at all. "He's ah...handsome...smart...and hardworking?" she replied.

"Do you like him?"

"W-What? N-No we’re not close, Miss Harrison...I-I mean Veena."

“Oh really?” Veena teased her assistant. Abby is a brunette with her hair cut up in a bob. The woman is slightly taller than her and has a curvy body. She is pretty attractive.

Abby blushed like a tomato. Veena caught her being attracted towards Felix. She should be careful from now on her lady boss got the eyes of a hawk.

"I grew up with Felix since I was still a young girl. We have never been close until now. All we talk about is business stuff. He is dedicated to our boss and soon will be dedicated to you." Abby said.

"Dedicated to me?" Veena was confused.

"You will know tomorrow."

Veena did not question further. These people are always telling her to expect something tomorrow, at the Civil Affairs office.

As Veena entered the car her phone vibrated. It was a message from the Lois. A wide smile formed on her lips and her eyes sparkled with naughtiness.

“Be careful and have fun.”
