Amelia's POV
Ethan left for work this morning, saying he has a meeting with Mr. Robert and the other men whose names I was not aware of. I woke up just now and I saw that there were plenty of notifications on my phone. Most of the updates are still from the wedding held at the court about a month ago.
I checked my inbox to see a text from my sister and I was angry. I was annoyed at her guts and effrontery to still send a text to me after all she has done to me. She had sent me a text and friend request on Facebook about last week and I declined the request, ignoring her text.
Now, what? She thinks she can walk into my life again to gain my trust after stabbing me at my back. "Hi, Amy," the content read, the same thing she had sent last week. I was frustrated and I ignored her messages again, walking to the bathroom to empty my bladder. Pamela walked into the room at the noise of the tap running, askin
Carl's POVI watched the news unfold right before my eyes. What does this mean? I ask myself, looking at the screen of Scarlett's phone. Tessa had left for the kitchen sometime ago to get a smoothie for herself and juice for me when I heard a car pull up at my parking lot. I got up to look through the window and know the right move just in case we are being attacked. We still owe a certain amount to the organization we took a loan from and they have threatened that we complete the payment soon before the unspeakable is done. It was a relief seeing Scarlett walk into the house and I came to her for a quick hug when she avoided me, shoving her phone into my right hand."Scarlett," I called her before staring at the phone. Whatever had made her avoid my hug has gotten to be a serious matter. I looked at the screen of her phone, seeing my younger daughter's picture. She is tagged as married and her husban
Carl's POVI called Luke several times because of the rest of our deal. He complained of how broke he was at the moment, asking we give him some time to process the payment. My wife and I were left with no other choice but to visit Amelia at her new place and see if we could talk to her about lending some money to me with the promise to pay back whenever Luke makes the rest of the payment.Tessa finally had her way and has convinced me into taking a drastic decision. We had our bath early this morning, mapping out the address of the great Ethan Blackwood on the internet. We finished in less than four hours since we woke up from sleep and we left the house in our car. I did the driving and Tessa sat at the back of the car. We still have issues to settle, I had refused her to follow me to Amelia's new home, but then she always wants to have her way so I let her.We stopped at the gate leading out of the estat
Carl's POVI looked at the screen of my phone again, ensuring I wasn't imagining things. The statement from the bank stood at the screen of my phone in block letters. I was fazed and speechless.I received the same message three more times showing the money I needed has been provided. I saw my In-law's name as the sender and I didn't have to be told twice, it was Luke's handiwork.Tessa's eyes were already peering into my skin, I said nothing to her and closed my mouth, finally. If only I knew this would happen, I would not have gone to Amelia house to embarrass myself like that."What is it, Carl?" Tessa asked and I looked up to see her face. She looked scared and her eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets. "The organization?" She asked and I heard her voice shake."I was credited, Luke credited me," I said and she screamed in excitement. "We
Amelia's POVThe old man opened the gate for someone to walk in, I screamed at the sight of Pamela, rushing down the stairs to go and meet with her. "Pam!" I screamed in excitement, smiling and hugging her briefly."Ma'am," she called, walking before me and I looked at her from behind. We got into the house and I gave her some time to arrange the stuff she had brought with her from her mother's house."How is she?" I asked the minute she walked into my room from dropping her small backpack in her room."She sent her greetings," she said in response. We had a little conversation, moved to the kitchen when I heard a car honk its horn at the gate. I paused, waiting for the gateman to open the gate, but he did not.Instead, he opened the normal gate meant for walking through and I heard tiny voices because I was not close to the gate to know who spoke. I had expec
Luke's POVThe past few weeks have been an hectic one. The huge sum of money that left my account, coupled with the news of Amelia's wedding flying all over the country.I thought Scarlett made a joke about it until I saw for myself on the screen of my own phone. "What is this?" I asked the already shaking woman seated on the bed. She shook almost violently and I was scared she would go mad."It's not over, baby," I pleaded, holding her all through the night.Carl's call came in on my phone all through the week, demanding for the rest of his payment."I was choked," he said to me and I understood what he meant so well. I, on the other hand, had nothing on me as at the time he called. I was on the verge of taking a loan from the man I work for.Tessa played her own role as a wife by calling on behalf of her husband. "Mom, give me some
Ethan's POVThe men that work with and for my company congratulated me after the honeymoon leave I had taken."Welcome, sir," my receptionist greeted me first when I arrived on a Monday. Mr. Robert and the rest of the men came around to see me during the week, telling me I am officially the sole proprietor of the company already, they reminded me of the other half of the deal."We still need some time," I said to the man who had brought up the issue of childbearing, "allow us to enjoy the early stages of our marriage, sir." "I understand," the elderly man said, "I am only looking out for you, some thieves have their eyes on this property," he explained, pointing his hand to the floor for emphasis."Thank you," I greeted, controlling my emotions that would burst the next moment. "She is your wife, it is her priority to give you a child," Robert chipped in. "A male child to take over the company after your demise." I looked at him, "thank you, Robert," I said, rather than saying what
Luke's POV"Wake up!" Scarlett dragged me on the bed. The alarm chimed and the time I set the previous day rang loudly. "Why do you always disturb my sleep with this machine?" She complained, and I sat up on the bed."8AM!" I screamed, hurriedly jumping off the bed. "Good morning, baby," I greeted from the bathroom, grabbed my electric toothbrush and washed my mouth."Don't be late!" The Boss had warned after the sales were done the previous day. "More goods shall arrive tomorrow," he said again. His words rang in my head while I washed my mouth, I had my bath in a giffy, rushing back to the room to meet Scarlett still sleeping. She laid on the bed, not completely asleep."Where are you going?" She asked, her eyes were still closed and I used the spray. "Work," I answered, moving to the wardrobe to select a dress for my day. "This or this?" I asked and she opened her eyes to say, "this," pointing at the shirt on my left hand. I nodded at her, placed the other shirt back in the wardrob
Ethan's POVI phoned my men days ago to meet me at a restaurant, a place where we hold meetings. The air is finally cold between Amelia and I."Good morning," she greeted me before I left the house. "Good morning," I replied to her. I walked to the dining area to have breakfast. Pamela is finally stronger than days ago."Good morning," she came out of her room, looking fleshy and I nod at her, sipping from my mug. I left the house after some time and rushed to the office. From my calculations, I am almost late for work. Being a CEO does not justify me."Meet me at the restaurant," I said to one of my men over the phone. I asked him to bring the rest of the boys with him. It is almost a matter of urgency, afterall. "Okay, boss," he said before ending the call.I arrived at the office and hopped down from my car to see Roberts' car at the lot. "Again," I muttered to myself. "Who owns that car?" Although, I know. I still asked the worker for a clarifying reason. "Mr. Robert, sir," he sa
