Chapter 5- A Little Too Harsh

Kasper's POV

I hung up on her before she could finish whatever she had to say. Did she really think she was entitled to be close to me? I wouldn't even marry her if I didn't want her to pay for her crimes.

“ Sir, aren't you going to head home?” Steve inquired.

“ I was but there's going to be a change of plans,” I informed. I picked up my phone and dialed. “ Yes, are you still there Greg?”

“ I'm actually at my house this time but it's cool, was having a sort of party so...,” he paused.

“ I'll be there,”

“ Wait, what? Since when did you even like...,” I hung up on him before he could finish his complaints.

“ Let's go,” I said to Steve as I got to my feet and walked towards the door. After a forty minute drive, we got to Greg's glass house. Getting inside, the house was booming with loud music, he wasn't joking when he said he was having a party.

“ Hey, handsome,” some scantly dressed girls approached me in a lousy attempt to seduce me. “ Wanna grab a drink?”

“ I'm sorry but my boss is not interested in base people,” Steve grabbed her by the wrist as she tried to touch me.

“ You can let go of me now,” she complained as she wriggled her hand out of his grip. “ You don't have to be so rude,” she added once he had let go of her. I ignored the both of them and continued to move forward, I wasn't here for all this trash.

“ Wait for me, sir,” Steve ran after me.

“ Kasper, my man!” Greg walked up to me with girls on both corners, his hands wrapped around their waist - he would never change. “ So? How are you liking the atmosphere here?” He questioned taking off his shade.

“ Everything about your sense of style is terrible,” I folded my arms. “ And why in the world are you even hosting a party?”

“ Now, you sound like my grandma,” he mocked. “ I just felt like it. I like it when everywhere is lively,” he replied with a shrug.

“ Let's go,” I said authoritatively.

“ You don't have to command me in front of the ladies,” he whispered to me with his brows furrowing. “ Give me that much respect at least,”

“ The only reason I haven't dragged you across the dance floor with your ear is because of the same reason,”

“ Fine, I have somewhere private we can discuss. Come on,” he led the way, I and Steve followed him. Getting to his private lounge, we sat down and the bartenders began to serve drinks.

“ So what happened this time? Shouldn't you be home with your wife doing whatnot?” He teased.

“ Not everyone is as lecherous as you are,” I remarked. “ And I don't want to go home, at least not now,” I gulped down a shot.

“ Wouldn't she be worried about you not going back home? I think you should at least text her that you won't be coming home,” he advised like he was in anyway responsible.

“ That's exactly why I'm here. She already called me to ask about my whereabouts, if I come home now, she'd think I did it for her. I don't want her to delude herself more,” I stated.

“ You're really as stubborn as a mole. I don't even know if to call this a tantrum,” he chuckled.

“ What's funny?” I frowned.

“ How you're acting up just because you don't want to seem nice to her. Aren't you a little too old for this? Like aren't you too old to be taking revenge like this. I'm more afraid for you that you'll fall for her intentionally, she's bloody hot and young and there you are... Well,” he kept on laughing.

“ Steve, I think you should leave us alone now. You can go home for today,” I dismissed him.

“ If you're sure about it then... Okay,” he said bowing his head before leaving us alone.

“ Anyway, I can't still imagine that you live someone like... What was her name again?” He asked.

 “ Anastasia,”

“ Yeah, right. I can't believe you live with someone like Anastasia and you haven't had a single sort of feelings for her. I doubt it,” he said seriously.

“ Doubt all you will but there's no way I'm liking that murderer,”

“ Now, calling her a murderer is a bit too harsh. I don't care what you think, you're a bit cruel to pin the blame on her. Aurelia is dead and I think it's time for you to forget the past, it's not like you actually ever loved Aurelia to begin with,”

“ Do you really think that lightly of Aurelia?” I tightened my grip on the glass cup in anger. “ Do you have any idea the pain she must have went through before dying and now you tell me to stop just because I don't love her? Don't forget that she was supposed to be my bride,” I reminded trying my best to suppress my anger.

“ Sheesh! I get it already. You made a promise to her as kids that you would marry her, blah blah,” he couldn't bother himself with the details. “ I'm not going to say anything about this anymore, it's your choice if you want to keep torturing an innocent person,” he raised his hands in surrender.

I didn't think I was cruel to treat her the way I did, I could have made her rot in prison but instead, I chose not to ruin her records. She deserved it and I didn't regret it.

“ Let's talk about something different,” I said sipping from my glass. Anastasia was the last person I would love because I was sure of the feeling I had for her - hatred was the word to describe it.

My phone buzzed a few minutes into drinking, it was Mrs. Margaret but I couldn't be more bothered. I knew it had to do with Anastasia, probably wanting to talk me into acting nicer even if I didn't like her.

“ Who's that?” Greg gave me a questioning look.

“ It's Mrs. Margaret but it's nothing serious,” I brushed it off.
