Chapter 4

SICK

Corazon wasn't feeling well the next day but immediately jumped out of bed after she saw it was already seven in the morning. Because she was in a hurry, her vision went black and she fell on the floor but still managed to get into her feet. Terrence would starve if she didn't move and cook for him. One more thing, his anger was the last thing she wanted early in the morning.

She saw Terrence's frowning face as she went outside her room which made her approach him immediately. "I—I'm sorry if I woke up a bit late today Terrence, it's just that I don't feel well," she explained and apologized.

"Then what do you want me to do? Should I take good care of you because you're sick?" Terrence smirked.

She swallowed the lump in her throat to prevent herself from shedding tears "...it's not like that Terrence. I don't mean it—

"Mean what? That you're acting like you are some kind of pathetic sick woman? For what? So that I will show mercy on you? I'm telling you again that has no effect on me, Corazon, so you better stop and do your job as a servant," he hissed.

Right there Corazon went to the kitchen and cooked something for her husband despite the chilly feeling because of her high fever. Terrence ignored her once again like she was just being dramatic that hurted her feelings. He didn't even  have the compassion that she needed.  Now she realized that it was so hard if both of the body and the heart get sick.

After taking some fever medicine, Corazon continued her daily chores and decided to rest after she finished all of them. The night came that feels like she couldn't take it anymore. Corazon grabbed her phone and dialed Terrence's number which took him many rings before answering.

"Hello?!" Terrence's irritated voice welcomed her.

"Terrence..." He uttered his name in a small voice.

Corazon heard Terrence's heavy sigh. "What is this all about again Corazon? Just make sure you call because of an important matter or else I'll hang this up."

"I…I need to go to the—"

"Babe, come here. Jacuzzi's ready," a woman on the other line suddenly spoke, stopping her from talking.

"Wait for me there, 'kay? I'll just finish this," Terrence replied.

She shut her eyes tightly. Maybe it's a wrong choice to call him then because she's sure he'll prioritize his woman over her, his wife.

"What is it, Corazon? You're taking so much of my time! Are you going to say something or not? I'm gonna hang this up!"  Terrence annoyingly hissed.

When she didn't talk for a few seconds the line went dead immediately. Slowly, she let out a sigh and put her phone down. She decided to take herself to the hospital on her own. Staying in the house, doing nothing would only worsen her condition and she might bother her parents as well.

Wearing a hoodie with her phone and wallet, she went down the stairs with shaking knees. She already called a taxi so all she has to do is to wait outside. A cool wind gently kissed her face as she stepped out the door. While she was walking, she felt like floating in the air and was about to lose her consciousness. Corazon leaned on the gate for a moment before opening it slowly

A blinding car headlight greeted her eyes, she tried covering her face but suddenly, her vision blurred and she fell on the ground. But before her body reached the cold cemented flooring, a strong warm arms with a familiar scent caught her. Right at that moment, she closes her eyes without hesitation knowing that she's finally safe and sound.

 ……

After enjoying at the hotel with Bea, Terrence decided to wander around the club before heading home.  Going home would just frustrate him more especially seeing his annoying wife.

"Dude, are you dating that woman?"  His friend, Zeus curiously asked.

"It's not dating Zeus, it's flirting," he grinned.

Bea was his flavor of the month or maybe week or a day, he doesn't exactly know.  The woman was annoying and clingy. It's a good thing she's good in bed because if she wasn't, he would have disposed of her a long time ago.

"Is your wife fine with it?"  Zeus asked again.

Terrence drank his shot glass before turning in Zeus ' direction with a cocky expression on his face. "Even if she's not fine with it, what can she do about it?"

Zeus tsk. There was also a trace of frustration on his face which he just ignored. Hours passed by when they decided to go home and of course, Bea will come with him again to pester Corazon.

"You're so unbelievable, man! You're really bringing your mistress to your house?"  Xerxes exclaimed like he couldn't believe what he was doing.

Terrence throws Xerxes a mocking expression. As if this idiot isn't a walking penis too who fucks anyone as long as they have a whole. The only difference they have is he's married while Xerxes isn't.

"Fuck!" Terrence cursed as a strong punch landed onto his face.

He tasted his own blood and spit it out before setting his eyes on his opponent who look like a beast whose ready to eat him alive—his younger brother Tyrone

"What is your problem Tyrone?"  He asked then wiped the blood on the side of his lips.

Tyrone rushed him again, pinned him down and violently pushed him against his own car.  "Fuck you T! How could you have fun here while your wife is sick?"

That made him chuckle. So that is the reason why this little brother of his is fuming mad that his expression was like he wants to kill him? It's because of Corazon. That fucking woman again!

"Stop it, you're hurting my boyfriend—Ouch!"  Bea groaned in pain when Tyrone immediately pushed her aside as she was about to approach them.

Fortunately, Xerxes was alert and caught the woman before she fell to the pavement.  "Stop interfering here bitch!"  His brother shouted.  Bea got scared and immediately ran away.

"Stop this nonsense, fight Tyrone and get a hold of yourself before my patience runs out," Terrence warned his brother.

"Do you think I'm afraid of you? A piece of trash like you?" Tyrone chuckled. "You're not worthy of my fear dear brother."

"Fuck you Tyrone," he said angrily then violently removed his grip on his collar.  "If you are this mad, why didn't you try harder convincing Mom to let you marry your best friend instead of me?"  Terrence hissed.

It's not a secret to him that Tyrone harbours feelings for his damn unwanted wife. It would have been better if the two of them got married instead and spared him from the bullshit marriage she's in.

"Do you really think I didn't try?"

"Then you should've tried harder!"

"What do you want me to do?!"  Tyrone almost screamed.  "Should I just have killed you then so that I can marry her?"  Tyrone's voice broke as a lone tear escaped his eyes.  "Maybe I should have done it or you should have been dead when you got drowned in that fucking lake! Then Corazon won't get a chance to marry you. She wouldn't be hurt like this. You don't deserve someone like her at all."

Terrence didn't answer. He was hurt by the words that came out from his brother's mouth. He really prefers him dead over that woman huh!

.

"Enough Ty," Zeus tried to interfere but Tyrone's sharp eye just glared at Zeus.

"What? Are you having fun tolerating this asshole?"

Zeus let out a deep breath and glared at his brother too.  "No I'm not, in fact I'm so disappointed by what your brother was doing Ty. I have known his wife too and I somehow realize how foolish your brother is but you can't argue in that matter here in public," Zeus explained.

Tyrone went silent for a moment and then left without saying a word.

"Damn man, are you unfriending me now?" He quirkily tried to lighten the atmosphere, especially when he saw Zeus' frowning face.

"No man, both of you are still my friends but you need to wake up and fix your damn life. You are so lucky to have a very understanding and caring wife—things you didn't see because you're blinded by your anger  for her," Zeus shook his head.

"You knew I only wanted Lara, Zeus."

"Remember what you said to your brother? You should've tried harder too. If you really love Lara, you would move heaven and earth just to be with her. You'll man up and won't act like a little boy who  chickened out just because your mother threatened you."

He heard Xerxes' stifled laughter that annoyed him.  "Are you judging my love for Lara, Zeus?"

Zeus shook his head and smiled slightly.

"No T, but it seems like you're pushing yourself too much standing by the promises you made to the woman who saved your life that you miss something more. Stop collecting stones Terrence, you never knew you're already losing the diamond. Ya know what I'm sayin'?" Zeus said his last sentence with an accent.

"Take it from the love doctor," Xerxes laughed, patting his shoulder before getting into his own car and leaving him in the parking lot.

He remained standing for a few minutes as he kept on sighing while convincing himself that he was doing the right thing.
