(CHAPTER SIX)

Khalid’s POV

I never planned to terrify her. I never even planned to touch her that way. But curiosity is a dangerous thing, and I needed to know why she was so damn miserable that night my car almost hit her.

That night wasn’t funny. Not at all, for a moment, I thought I’d lose a stranger because of my reckless driving. The doctor told me she had fallen into a coma from the shock. I remember staring at her pale face, thinking it was my fault.

Now here we are. And if she didn’t open her mouth and talk, if she kept pushing me with that stubborn silence—God knows I would have finger-fucked her right there just to break her pride.

At least then she’d understand I’m not the kind of man who plays gentle games. Sooner or later, she will learn the truth about the man she married.

My phone buzzed. My assistant’s name lit the screen and I answered immediately.

“Sir, a few people in Chicago found out you’re married. Do you want me to die down the news?”

CHAPTER FIVE(Jemima's POV)“Khalid...what are you doing?” I asked, my voice was too weak for the glare I forced onto my face. His hand moved with a swiftness I didn’t expect. He tugged at the belt of my robe, loosening it with one effortless pull.I gasped out loudly, clutching the fabric against me, panicking already. “Have you lost your mind? What do you think you’re doing? Listen, I’m not ready for sex yet and I do not—”But I didn’t even finish the sentence before he seized my wrists, dragging both my hands above my head and pinning them against the wall. His grip was strong enough to hold me, pinning me on the wall.“Have you lost your mind?” I struggled, anger igniting through my fear. “Let me go, you idiot!”His eyes were nothing like I’d seen before. I had seen him cold. I had seen him angry, but this...this was something darker. Something almost feral, and it sent shivers down my spine.“Will you answer my question or,” His head dipped closer, his breath hot against my ch

(CHAPTER FOUR) Jemima’s POV The window was my only friend tonight, since I had no one to talk to, I stood before it, my arms folded, staring into the starless sky as if it could give me peace. The night breeze slipped into the room, soft and cool, teasing strands of my hair and brushing them across my lips. But the weight inside me reminded me where I stood. Never for once in my twenty-five years of life did I imagine this, a night where I would stand in a stranger’s room, where I'd be a wife to a man I never loved, and let my life get signed away like a business contract. I had always wanted a family, a husband I would love, children who would love us both, a home filled with warmth. But not like this, not under the shadow of an arrangement I never asked for, not chained to a man who had no place in my heart. And yet, it was too late. Because I was already trapped in this loveless marriage. The thought made my chest ache in a way that no breeze could soothe. My heart betrayed

Chapter Three {Khalid's POV}From the airport, the driver drove us back to the new mansion I bought. I wasn't going back to the old mansion I used to live, a new mansion for a fresh start. Jemima was escorted to her room, since we agreed not to sleep in the same room. She set all the rules and he had no objection. She shouldn't meddle in her life and I wouldn't do the same. We're just destined to be stuck in this loveless marriage. I entered the room, my head hurts due to stress. Taking a shower and closing my eyes will do it. After having a nice shower, I sat on the couch. My eyes were red and I couldn't close my eyes to sleep. Not when the different flashbacks I didn't want to forget. A lot of things have happened in my life yet I numbed all the pain alone. But no matter how hard I had tried to forget the bad days of my life, I couldn't forget one day. *** Six years ago. I had negotiated contracts worth millions, flown across oceans for deals that could topple emp

CHAPTER TWO Jemima and Khalid stood before each other, to read out their vows to each other, framed by the arch of flowers, and the watchful eyes of hundreds of guests. Their faces were gloomy, distant yet strangely perfect together. To the crowd, they looked real, but anyone who looked closely will see it was all just a beautiful lie.Jemima glared at him, she flipped open the first page, the vows stated as follows;"I, Jemima Wilson, accept you Khalid Greyson as my lawfully wedded husband.""I, Khalid Greyson, accept you Jemima Wilson as my lawfully wedded wife."Jemima smirked, staring at him with so much hatred. It's really happening, she's taking vows with the same man that humiliated her in Chicago. The same man who yelled at her. When she was still working as his secretary, he was always harsh to her and never treated her nicely. If he could treat an outsider like that, how would he treat his own wife? She hates him and she despises herself for being his bride today.Khalid sa

CHAPTER ONE (Author's POV)Khalid was back to Paris, to fulfill his mother's wishes. He wasn't back for business, he came back to get married to the woman his mother chose for him. He had refused many ladies, just because he didn't believe in love anymore. He lost his spark and he doesn't think he'll get it back. But he finally agreed to marry this mysterious woman his mother chose for him.He could remember their last conversation."Khalid, you need a partner,a woman not just someone who'll warm your bed, you need someone who'll understand you, care for you, love you like you've ever loved yourself.""And is it so easy to find that one woman?" He'd asked her."I wasn't going to do this before but I think it's necessary,I spoke with my friend and we came to a conclusion"She said firmly."What conclusion?" He had asked wearily and she smiled."You'll get married to her daughter, Jemima."She said with finality.Khalid stared at her, though as if he hadn't heard right.Jemima? The name
