Alice POV

The dinner was silent, with everyone looking like they planned to kill each other. Nathan was the worst. His face was pale, while Eliza had her usual smugness. Rowan sat beside me, saying nothing. I chuckled and stabbed my fork into my meat.

I was beginning to enjoy this.

The door burst open, the sound echoing through the hall. A maid stumbled in, breathing heavily, and bowed at once.

"Alpha, Prince Corin of Brickwell is here. He seems angry and is requesting your presence," she stamm

Alice POVI checked behind me for the second time before leaving the pack house grounds. No one was following me. The guards at the entrance barely glanced in my direction, and the few servants still awake were too busy to notice where I was going. I pulled my cloak closer and continued down the path.I should have been in bed. Rowan had a duel at dawn, and I was supposed to be resting before the long day ahead. Instead, I was walking towards the old Beta's residence because Corin Brickwell had decided to leave me with more questions than answers. What did Rowan do to the old Beta's family? The question had followed me since dinner. I had tried asking Rowan, but he had shut me down as usual. One cold look, a few words, and suddenly I was expected to forget whatever I had asked.Unfortunately for him, I wasn't that easy to dismiss.Corin had spoken as if he knew something about Rowan's past. I had seen Rowan's hand tighten around his glass, and I knew better than to believe it meant no

  • Married to the Alpha I Rejected.   Chapter eight

Rowan POVThe training ground was almost empty by the time I arrived. Most of the warriors had retired for the night, leaving only a few guards patrolling the surrounding walls.I picked up my sword and began practising, repeating the same movements until my muscles started to ache.Corin's words kept returning to my mind. His mention of the north and the old Beta's family had been deliberate. He knew exactly which buttons to push, and I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me react. The file Alpha Bloodcrest possessed was still my priority, and I intended to get it before leaving this pack.A sound behind me made me turn.A large man stood a few feet away, arms folded across his chest. His brown hair was slightly dishevelled, and his expression suggested he had not come to admire my swordsmanship.I lowered my sword. "Can I help you?""You're Rowan, aren't you?""Depends on who's asking.""Marcus. Leader of the pack warriors."I had seen him around the pack, but we had

He seems angry and is requesting your presence," she stammered, her head still bowed.I turned towards my father. His expression faltered, and I thought I caught a pleased look on his face before it disappeared. He nodded and started towards the door. He had barely taken a few steps when the prince shoved the maid aside, a dozen warriors filing in behind him. The maid hit the ground hard and Corin didn't spare her a glance. He stepped over her as if she were a rug.I frowned. He looked around the hall as if it bored him. "A charming hall," he said. "I

  • Married to the Alpha I Rejected.   Chapter six

Alice POV The morning after our deal, Rowan walked beside me without uttering a single word. We stopped in front of the hall. Two guards stood by the entrance, and I could already hear voices inside. My father must have summoned everyone early. "Are you planning to stand here all morning?" Rowan asked. I turned to him. "I'm trying to enjoy my last few minutes of peace." "Then you should have stayed in bed." I rolled my eyes. He pushed the hall doors open before I could come up with an answer. The moment Rowan and I stepped inside, every conversation stopped. My father sat in his usual chair at the far end of the room, with Eliza beside him and Nathan standing behind her. A few elders were seated along the sides, while the guards remained close to the entrance. Eliza looked from me to Rowan. Her lips curved into a smile. "You're late," my father said. "I'm early, Father. I have news." His eyes narrowed. Rowan walked past me and stopped a few steps ahead. "Why are you here?"

His cold words echoed in my head, but shit, I refused to let go of his hand. He moved his gaze to my fingers, and a frown settled on his face.I swallowed hard before continuing.“Did you not hear me?” I asked. “I said marry me.”“I heard you the first time,” he replied coldly.“Then why are you asking if I’ve lost my mind?” I questioned him.He pulled his hand away from mine roughly and stared at the mark on my wrist.“Yesterday, you rejected me. Today, you’re standing in my house asking me to marry you. Do you expect me to take you seriously?”I stared at him, but for a second, I forgot what to say. I immediately recovered myself.“I have my reasons,” I said.“I’m sure you do,” he replied flatly.I folded my arms across my chest. “Look, I know you probably hate me, but I need your help.”“What makes you think I’d help you?”“Because it would benefit you too,” I explained. He raised an eyebrow. “And how exactly would marrying you benefit me?”I hesitated for a moment before answering

  • Married to the Alpha I Rejected.   Chapter four

Rowan's POVThe night screamed with the sound of war, steel crashing against steel while claws tore into flesh and bones snapped with deafening cracks beneath the cold haze of the moon.I tightened my grip on my sword as an enemy warrior charged towards me. I stepped aside, avoiding his claws before driving my blade into his chest. His body fell to the ground, and I turned just in time to block another attack.I pushed him back with my sword before delivering a strike across his neck."Hold your positions!" I ordered without taking my eyes off the battlefield. My men advanced, forcing the remaining enemy warriors backwards. Their commander stood among them, his eyes fixed on me. I knew what he wanted. A fight.I walked towards him, my sword hanging loosely in my hand. He shifted into his wolf and charged. I waited until he was close enough before moving aside and driving my blade into his side.He staggered. I pulled my sword free and struck again. His body hit the ground, and the rema
