After showing me around, Margaret takes me back to our house. Unfortunately, instead of just dropping me off and get going, she comes inside the house with me.
“Let’s see what’s in the pantry so we can start making dinner,” she suggests.
“Don’t he has people that can cook for us?” I ask folding my arms.
I am sure someone as rich a Dimitri has plenty of people to help out with household chores, he can’t expect for me to act like a Stepford Wife.
“I’m afraid Dimitri doesn’t like to have strange people in his house, he enjoys his privacy, so you are going to have to handle the house by yourself,” she informs me.
“What
When I open my eyes, it’s already morning. It takes me a few seconds to remember where I am. I sink my head in the pillow before looking up. Dimitri is not on his side of the bed. Suddenly, the bathroom door opens and Dimitri comes out completely naked. I turn my face to the other side, my cheeks are red as tomatoes. Of all the things I thought about how my husband would look like before my wedding, I never expected him to be this fine. I mean, even with his clothes on it’s obvious that he is ripped, but without them, you can really appreciate every muscle and every curve. Not even in my wildest dreams, I thought Dimitri would be so handsome or that he would make me feel this aroused. He starts to get dressed, totally unaware of how I feel.“What time does Margaret said she would get here?” Dimitri asks me as he puts on his shoes.
(Dimitri P.O.V.)I take another sip of my vodka, I am aware that it is too early to be drinking, but I really need it. My nerves are killing me, I feel on the edge. This whole situation with my marriage is overwhelming and I have proven to be unable to control it.I still can’t process what happened on our wedding night or, better said, what almost happened, I feel disgusted with myself for the way I acted. What was I thinking? I know the whole point of Victoria being my wife is for us to have children together to straighten our dominion over Javier Solis and his mafia, and at some point, I’m going to have to sleep with her, but I’m not a freaking rapist! Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. Although it also annoys me how much the memory of that night affects me, I hate that I feel a pang of guilt every tim
(Victoria’s P.O.V.)I walk along with Margaret back to my house; although I don’t entirely consider it mine yet. In spite of what Margaret says about me being the lady of the house, I don’t feel that way. In my mind, I’m just a guest here. This place is not my home, it’s just a place I live in now against my will. As we walk I hear someone calling my name, I turn around and find Irina running toward us. She is so gracious even when she runs, she is like a Barbie doll in real life, her golden hair shines against the sun beams and hey blue eyes sparkle like diamonds. Even though her face is reddened due to the effort of running, she still looks gorgeous.“Victoria, wait!” She says as she reaches us. “I am so sorry about the way my mother behaved today. She has no excuse. I feel terrible that you
Two weeks have gone by since I got married to Dimitri Ivanov. I am as unhappy as I was the first day, at least Dimitri hasn’t tried to have sex with me since our wedding night, which I guess is something to be thankful for. On the other hand, my husband hasn’t allowed me to talk to my family because he is punishing me for trying to smash the telephone against his head and I really resent him for it. Luckily, he is not around the house much, he spends most days out, I don’t know if my husband does this to avoid me, all I know is that I appreciate it when he is not around, I prefer to be alone in this big house than with him. Although the truth is that even when he is home, we barely speak to each other and when we do we get into big fights where we both yell until one of us storms out. I hate him and he hates me. That’s just the way things are between us and the less we talk, the better.
Today is Sunday, Dimitri didn’t come home last night, after he changed his shirt for a clean one, he left the house and didn’t come back. I assume he spent the night with his cousin Kirill just across the garden; he did the same thing last Saturday night, they both went out for drinks and then Dimitri stayed at his cousin’s house instead of coming here. I’m glad he spent the night out, the farther away he stays from me, the least he is going to get a chance to make me pay for throwing the food at him.“Are you ready?” Margaret asks standing under the doorframe. “Yes,” I reply reluctantly.Dimitri’s family invited me for brunch at Anastasia and Nikolay’s house. I don’t feel like going, but I also don&
As I walk back to the dining room I listen to Nikolay exclaim. “Mother, you forgot your heart medicine! You know you have to take it with every meal!”“Oh, I don’t know where they are, I tried to find them this morning but I couldn’t,” grandma Yelena says annoyed by his son’s remark.I watch the scene standing in the hallway, the Ivanov family hasn’t notice me yet.“I can go look for them, ma’am,” Margaret offers as she helps the maid refill the glasses of orange juice.“Oh, don’t bother, Maggie, you are too sweet,” grandma Yelena says.“It’s no bot
(Dimitri ’s P.O.V.)We step out of the house slowly. There’s not much we can do, we saw the houses being engulfed by the flames from my cousin’s window, luckily everyone was at my father’s house having brunch so no one is harmed. The firemen are already here and are doing their jobs, we can’t do much aside from watching them work. I just hope they are not going to start asking too many questions afterward, they wouldn’t have a motive though, as far as they are concerned we are just a regular family that shares a piece of land and lives together. Hopefully, they won’t get too curious and if they do, we can always try to bribe them. I fold my arms across my chest and I look at the firemen trying to extinguish the flames with their hoses. Kirill and I walk toward the rest of the family, we all stay a few steps behind from the commotion so we don&rsq
(Dimitri ’s P.O.V.)I run towards the house as fast as I can. As I approach the fire the heat from the flames gets more intense but I don’t let that stop me. I hear my family calling my name from a distance and then a few firemen join them asking me to stop. I ignore them all, what kind of scum would I be if I did nothing while Victoria is in danger? She may be a Solis and a pain in the ass, but that doesn’t mean I am going to let her burn to death. She is my wife after all!I go inside the house, the living room and kitchen are almost completely engulfed by the fire.“Victoria! Victoria!” I shout as hard as I can while I search for her frenetically, but there is no answer.I walk carefully trying to avoid the flames, my leather jacket helps a little to protect my arms, but I
