Chapter 2: The wedding

This is the day of my wedding but it feels like just an ordinary day for both of us.

We both don't have any family or relatives present on the day of our wedding.

It was just a formal signing of the marriage certificate with my only friend Janah and his assistant Tony as a witness and by the guidance of the city bureau.

After signing the guidance announced our formal union and he said.

"I formally announced that you are now Mr. And Mrs. Xavier Jay Accetturo, you may now kiss your bride!"

And that was the biggest revelation I have ever experienced! And I was like about to burst like a bomb, that news is the most unexpected news I have ever heard! I need to compose myself or else I will have a heart attack at any moment... OMG! how I wish to be swallowed by the ground im standing already.

I was played by my husband! Is this my KARMA?! OH NO!

Xavier is known for being a player when it comes to women!

Darn it! What did I get myself into...

My face became gloomy and back to its normal.

"SO this is your surprise? You are such a player! Hmm..." I murmured between my smile... This is the fakest smile I've ever made.

"Who started it?! C'mon dear wife, were both not that innocent... Don't act as one! What do you take me for huh? STUPID?" he answered in his despised tone.

"I wonder why you loathed me that much?"

Xavier holds me on both my shoulders as if I will run any moment, holding me strongly, I can feel his nail marking my skin already... I can see anger in his eyes... Is that directed to me? What did I do to him? to hate me this much? It felt on the heart. Right now I regretted marrying him already, but it was done. All I need to do is to face it.

"I know you are already jittering, but you started this so learn to deal with it, my dear wife!"

Xavier murmured it in my earlobe and I felt a tingle from his blow.

I compose myself and hardened my stance.

"Get this over and done!" I answered.

He grinned and slowly moved his head near my face until we share a long and sweet kiss for the first time.

I can smell his rejuvenating, minty scent and I swear I'd love to adore his manly scent forever.

I didn't realize this kind of scent existed in real life.

"hmm... I thought you hate me that much for lying to you but it seems your enjoying my company!"

Xavier uttered teasingly.

"You!"

Raina clasps her hands hard at her side to avoid others realizing what is happening. She doesn't want any conversation with this arrogant, narcissistic man anymore.

"Let's go!"

he said holding my hand as if we are long-time lovers and he can't wait for the honeymoon.

"Hmph... Wait!"

I told him, and he turned around to look at me but still held my hand. I look at it and he immediately let it go when he understands what I meant.

"Where are we going?" I ask him.

"Have you forgotten what you promised? You'll serve me for whatever I will asks you! Then now is the time. Are you going back to your words now, dear little wife?" he reminded me...

I was choked by his words, why does he need to remind me of that proposal, always?

"Yeah! B-but I just need to do something, right now... I was about to ask you for permission to go to my father's house first. I'll just see you at home later then will talk about that. I need to do something very important now..."

Aina uttered in a pleading voice.

Xavier maintains eye contact with her as he goes near her, his long beautiful fingers gripping her neck tightly to give her a warning about running away with him.

"Are you playing with me, girl?"

He uttered in a murmured tone as she was corner outside the car, other hands holding the car on her side, locking her between his body, so close that Raina can even hear his heartbeat as he sniff her scent.

"Marrying me is a lot of guts already, girl! Don't test my patience or you'll regret it!" as he tightened his hand on her neck a little. Making her understand, Who is in charge of the whole ordeal?

And my friend it's hard to admit but Aina is just his servant, waving his superiority in her face and it was like a big slap on her.

"Ok!"

She uttered holding her breath as she gasp when he release her, staggered as she controlled her body not to fall in front of everyone.

Xavier went inside the car and leave her without looking at her anymore.

"My! Why am so unlucky... Is he my dead end?"

Raina squatted as he releases her frustrations...

She cried to release all the tensions building in her insides.

Can I stomach serving this playboy hubby of mine!?

Shit! No way! Come what may,

I just need to go and prepare my dad for a decent burial before thinking of a way to divorce this son of a bitch!

Hmm... If I can escape with his clutches... It would be better ... Aina needs to think of a way to delay that honeymoon thing, she can save herself for a moment... But how about the next few days?

Would she survive a day with him?

This man is as hard as iron to mess with, with the resources he has.

I will end up getting crushed in the blink of an eye.

She needed to leave her worries behind for now so that she can finish her first mission and that is to bury her father immediately. She believes everything will be okay...

She almost forgot that her friend Janah was waiting for her at her dad's house entrance. Aina immediately cleans her face with her handkerchief, tidying up her appearance a little to avoid her scanning eyes.

"What took you so long?"

Janah said when she saw me, running toward her. I hop in her car and we went to the morgue where my father's body is.

It's been three days since he was shot, and I decided to put him into the morgue freezer in the meantime.

The reason why is...

First, I'm not yet ready to face him because as far as I know, I let him down when I didn't give him the chance to talk to me and cleared his name. I felt guilty that I believed others than his words.

Second, I am not yet ready to let him go, to see him being buried or cremated.

And third, I let the authority take an autopsy of his body first. For me to be sure that the gunshot I saw and heard killed him, not other substance that was given to him.

"Got caught up with a lot of things... I'm sorry for letting you wait for long." I said before hugging her.

"Hey! It's ok, you are my friend and I am always here, Raina... No matter what happens always remember that!"

And the latter smile at the other. That's right, this friend of hers is through thick and thin.

"Oooohhh... Thanks..."

I said, there's no one else I have in my life... So having her around is the most important thing.

"Let's go?" I heard her say and I nod in response.

I and Janah spend days running errands for my dad's funeral reception and also for his funeral service. Only we are present.

What do you expect, when we are not originally from here? We are from Country L, part of a country where CHAOS is the most common.

Because of me, my parents decided to move here to give me a normal life just like any normal kid.

We move here to seek sanctuary in short we are a runaway from our Country.

Who would've done that when a place is not ideal to build a family? That place is very depressing, to begin with.

Life in there is as hard as anyone can visualize. It's a life and death situation only the strong ones survive in that place.

And I heard when dad says that name Walter Accetturo. And she remembered that her husband is also an Accetturo.

Are they related to each other?

Now she needed to do her research about him to start with. As far as I know, since the day we moved here my dad has always been on a trip. I didn't know if he was running errands from here to Country L.

If it does, then dad is not as simple as I thought...

With that in mind, Raina can't wait to go home to interrogate her husband.

But the problem is... Is he willing to be asked about his private life? When he already draws the line between their relationship. Raina absentmindedly holds her face with her palm. OH! God... Guide me.

On the other hand

Tony did his investigation about his boss's wife and Xavier was just waiting for him to tell him about it now personally, but rather he comes to my office and gives me a folder.

"What is this?"

Xavier says with his eyebrows raised.

The info about your loving wife, didn't' you know that you marry a minor?

Xavier open the folder and stated below her pictures:

She is Raina Smith, 18 yrs. Old, her father and mother were named John Smith, and her mother died when she gave birth to her she is named Eloisa Smith. Both her parents are from Country L. She is in her second year in Meds. School.

Taking up medicine at Hale University.

But the bad news is, I heard in her neighborhood that her father just died 3 days ago. And I didn't dive deeper already. That alone is very depressing to know.

" Be kind to her, Please!" Tony said as he was about to turn around.

"Does she have a boyfriend?" Xavier uttered processing the news.

"Suitors, named Simon Quinn but I don't know if he is here already."

Xavier was a bit frustrated with the news.

"What does that mean? Are they going to be together if we didn't marry?"

He wants to know even though it has a bite in his frail heart.

"The possibility is high, but he is not here... So maybe that's the reason she proposes to you." he nodded.

"Thanks, stop the investigation, for now, the most important thing is that she is not one of my uncle's dogs," he said as the other turned around and went to the door.

Is she going to be my responsibility now? Since she was still a minor their relationship will be concealed for the time being.

Things will reveal when she is strong enough to face the real world...

Xavier didn't know that Raina's life is full of colors already, she was bullied to death in her school. She dealt with a lot of things every day. And those problems cause Gio Romano. Her admirer aside from Simon.

He loves to bully her because he wants her to look at him too.

Raina only cast a glance at Simon because of his caring nature and gentleness to her.

She never appreciates the attention that mans around her give. Dealing with admirers is taking a lot of her energy already so to avoid them she dresses carelessly. She neverminds if she looks shabby in it as long as it will fit her.

Xavier stands up on his swivel chair and goes to the door to leave. And go home.

"Sir, you have a dinner meeting with the Yamamoto Company later at 9 pm," his assistant said when she saw him get out of his office.

"Cancel it! I have important things to do." Xavier continues to walk without looking at her already. Which means he is decided.

The employees cast a looked at the scene and they can't believe their eyes. Their boss is a workaholic person, this is the first time he turned down a meeting.

Before he enters the elevator his phone rings., he accepts it while entering the elevator it was a call from his mom, Divine Grace.

"Mom? What happened?" Xavier uttered to the other line

"Don't talk to me like that Jay! You haven't visited me since last month... I miss you son! Can't I call you now... How are you? What are you up to lately?" Divine Grace said.

"Nothing mom! I was just busy with work lately. That's why I didn't visit you for a month but I can come on Friday, I swear..." Xavier said to appease his mother.

"All right, tag your girlfriend along..." Divine Grace muttered.

"I don't have one mom! Are you some kind of fishing information again?"

"Fine! Just come on Friday, I miss you already..."

"Yeah mom, I'll come... Who knows I might bring someone with me..." Xavier trying to tease her mom.

"That will be better!"

Xavier toss aside the irritation he felt about Raina's having a boyfriend to his present predicaments, his Mom.
