Chapter six

During the meeting, the only thing I did was to nod and smile when necessary.

After the meeting, lunch was provided. I ordered some Chinese rice and salad. Mr.Bossy's phone rang and he picked it.

"Trevelyan," he snapped. "Yes... It has been finalized... The contract is sealed... What? I'll get back to you." He hung up. "Ms. Greene, it's time to leave." He snapped at me and I flinched. "I'm sorry. There's an emergency. We have to leave," He said to the English.

"It's alright," Mr. Thompson said with his English accent.

Mr. Trevelyan stood up abruptly and left the conference room and I followed suit, leaving my food behind. I contemplated snatching the food and gobbling it down, but I remembered his warning:

"Any single mistake and the contract is out."

So, I decided against it, even though I didn't see how eating food is a mistake. He rushed to the car and I scurried inside.

"Tyler, TE, now," He ordered and Tyler drove to Trevelyan Enterprises

"...At the port. I don't know... email it to me and Thomas. Track them down." He said into the receiver.

Whoever is on the other side of the call, must have shrunk to death. My subconscious is hiding at the back of her worn-out couch.

"Sir?"

"What?" He snapped and I shrunk back.

"I'm just being curious, but, what happened?" I asked and Tyler gave a look in the side mirror that said, Do not make it worse.

He sighed and ran his hands through his gelled hair, making it all mussed up. He still looked hot all the same.

"It's okay. It's nothing. It's fine," he said, but the way he said it was as if he was reassuring himself. Tyler didn't react, he just kept his eyes on the road.

"You know, those two words are the most frequently told lies in English," I said to him.

He sighed again and said, "The seaport I own in England, has one of the ships missing."

I gasped.

Holy crap! He owns a seaport. In England!

"Yeah. It was stolen, how? I really don't know. I just know that the thieves are experts and all," he sighed again.

Before I could respond, his phone rang cutting me off. He picked it.

"Trevelyan," he said. "Tracked them? Good. Thank you, Thomas. No, not yet. I'll be there in some hours..... It is necessary. Yes."

He breathed out and said, "Tyler change of plans, head to the nearest airport."

"Okay sir," Tyler said making a U-turn.

"They were tracked?" I asked after a moment of silence.

"Yes. I'm going to England," he said.

I pursed my lips and looked out of the window.

His phone rang again startling me from my thoughts.

"Trevelyan... Booked them... Thank you , Thomas." He hung up.

I really had no idea what was going on and I didn't bother to ask him.

I got to the apartment at 7 PM. Kate was already at home. She was watching TV as usual with a tub of ice cream in her hand.

"Hi, Kate." I plopped down on the couch and took a deep breath.

"Hi. What's up? How was the meeting?" She asked. "I've been trying to call you but I couldn't get through."

"Yeah. My battery died."

"How was it?" She wiggled her brows at me.

"It was okay. He linked arms with me. We-"

"Wait a minute," she cut me off. "You linked arms with him?" She squealed.

"Yeah. Forget it. We met some English people and ate some food. But we didn't finish lunch, because he had an emergency." I added air quotes.

"What emergency?"

"His seaport in England was robbed and ship thieves stole one of his ships. I think he's just too possessive. I mean, he has the money to get another ship. But I guess overprotectiveness is in his DNA. Who knows?" I ranted.

"He has a seaport in England? Boy, that man is stinking rich." She wolf-whistled.

"I know, right?" I agreed.

"So what happened? Did he use some connections to find the thieves?"

"Yeah. He called a Thomas guy and then the Thomas guy tracked the thieves down. But then, he wanted to go to England."

"So he's on his way to England?"

"Yup," I said popping the 'p'.

"Dramatic much?" I heard Kate say when I walked to the kitchen.

"I heard that. You don't talk about my boss like that." I said from the kitchen. "A lot happened at work today." I walked out of the kitchen with a sandwich in my hand.

"What?"

"I arrived early than Mr. Hothead-"

"Mr who? Trevelyan?" She bit her lip, trying to contain her laughter.

"Yeah, I call him that in my head, along with Mr. Bossy, Mr. CEO, Mr. Bossy CEO." I stuffed a sandwich in my mouth.

"Ohmigosh." Kate laughed.

"What?" I said, pretending to be oblivious. "As I was saying, I arrived earlier, a friend, Susan showed me my office, it was beautiful, just like the boss's," I said dreamily.

"Really?" she exclaimed. "I'm gonna ditch my job and apply for an interview at your work," she joked.

"So, then, I was daydreaming as usual and then Mr. Hothead's manager was suddenly hovering over my face," I said stuffing more sandwich in my mouth.

"Ohmigosh, he kissed you!" She widened her eyes.

"No," I said immediately. "He didn't. He was just staring into my eyes like a creep. He said his name is Eric Scott. Mr. CEO got angry and told me to get him a cup of coffee from the coffee room that was twelve floors below in ten seconds."

"He was joking right?"

"Nah, I came back with his coffee and he said I was late. He warned me never to try that again."

"Coming late with the coffee or daydreaming at work?" she asked and I shrugged.

"I don't know. He said I should continue with my work and I was like, What work? Only for me to go to my office, to see piles of files on my desk."

"Shit!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah. He told me to type them out." I ate the last of my sandwich. "When I was done, he told me to go back at two to go change my outfit for the meeting," I finished and stared at Kate's expression.

"I'll go have a bath," I said walking to my room.

"He really is a shitty hot asshole." I heard Kate say.

"A hot crappy bastard, I tell you," I called back.
