Chapter 3

Author: Anti-Trash Specialist
Dad was startled. "What's wrong, Mr. Wright?"

Robin quickly pushed the risotto away. He took a handkerchief from his assistant, wiped his mouth, and furrowed his brows.

"I'm sorry. My stomach's been hurting lately. I can't stand the smell of seafood."

Dad slammed his hand onto the table and lectured the maid. "Robin's not feeling well! Who let you serve something so pungent?"

Then, he offered Robin an apologetic smile. "I'm so sorry, Robin. Look, it's getting late, and you aren't feeling well.

"Why don't you stay for a simple dinner? Consider it my way of making it up to you."

Robin's gaze flickered toward the maids for a second before he nodded. "Sorry to trouble you."

Cynthia sat next to me, picking at her nails and muttering under her breath, "A stomach bug? Does he have some sort of disease? I've seen plenty of rich second-generation brats at the clubs act like that when their bodies are completely burnt out. They're so weak."

My heart skipped a beat. Cynthia was right.

The rich men in the elite society led notoriously messy lives, had no morals, and had countless partners of both sexes.

It was possible that Robin had contracted some kind of sexually transmitted disease and was using the marriage as an excuse to cover up.

The family dinner at night felt strange.

Dad sat at the head of the table, with Robin in the seat of honor. Cynthia and I sat across from them, looking like we were ready to create chaos.

To my surprise, Kyle Parker was sitting at the far end of the table. Usually, he wasn't even allowed to eat with us.

Dad always claimed that Kyle was the son of our driver, Mike Parker. After Mike passed away, we took care of Kyle because he was an orphan. However, his eyes were a carbon copy of my father's in his youth.

In my first two lives, Cynthia and I were so busy trying to outmatch each other that we never gave this timid man a second thought.

However, it seemed that Kyle was my father's illegitimate son. Dad was just waiting for the right moment to officially recognize him as part of the Powell family.

"Kyle, don't just sit there. Pour some wine for Robin," Dad instructed.

Kyle scrambled to his feet, carrying the decanter over to Robin. "Mr. Wright, allow me to serve you."

Robin raised a hand to block the glass and said in an uncharacteristic gentle tone, "I don't drink wine. Water will do."

Kyle quickly switched to a pitcher of warm water. As he handed over the glass, his pinky finger brushed lightly against the center of Robin's palm.

The movement was incredibly fast and discreet. If I hadn't been watching Robin and Kyle like a hawk, I never would have caught it.

Instead of being offended, Robin lowered his gaze and smirked.

Hold on. A grown man looking at another like that? I felt goosebumps crawl up my arms.

Cynthia noticed it too. She gave me a hard kick under the table and signaled with her eyes. "Something is going on between them."

I shot her a meaningful look, signaling her to stay calm and keep an eye on the situation.

After a round of conversations, Robin finally cut to the chase.

"Mr. Powell, since both ladies are here, why don't we settle this tonight? My time is valuable, and I'd rather not waste any more time on these formalities."

Dad immediately placed his fork on the table and glared at Cynthia and me. "Did you hear that? We're choosing one of you tonight."

Just as Cynthia was about to speak and act out like a lunatic, I interrupted, "Dad, you and Robin are absolutely right. However, marrying into the Wright family is a massive commitment.

"To ensure the best possible genes for the next generation and to be responsible to the Wrights, shouldn't the three of us go for a pre-marital health screening first?"

If Robin just had a stomach bug, a health check-up would be harmless. But if he really had been promiscuous as Cynthia suspected…

"Haha! Kyle, so you're a coward. The moment things get difficult, you hide behind a woman. You're a pathetic loser. I must have been blind to ever believe your lies!"Robin summoned a final burst of strength and struck Kyle hard behind the knees. He collapsed to the ground. "You're crazy! Are you determined to destroy me?" Kyle screamed and lunged at her. Both of them began to scuffle on the floor. Every vow they had once whispered to each other had now curdled into a lethal curse. Nathan had heard enough. He kicked Kyle aside and ordered the bodyguards, "Bind these two shameful traitors up! As of this moment, Robin is no longer a part of the Wright family."Dad had been watching from the crowd, his body trembling violently. "Kyle, you… you bastard! I always felt like I owed you something. "I was going to leave you an inheritance so you could live in peace for the rest of your life. I didn't expect you'd be so cruel as to want Kathy and Cynthia dead. You ungrateful bastard!"

All eyes shifted instantly to Robin's abdomen. The soaked fabric clung to her body, her protruding belly exposed. Only a fool would fail to see that something was amiss, given the unmistakable curve and the heavy blood flow. The doctor's hands shook as he cut away her trousers. He looked bewildered at what he saw. "This… this isn't an injury. This is a major hemorrhage caused by a miscarriage!" Everyone exploded into a frenzy. "Miscarriage? Robin is a guy. How could he miscarry?""Holy shit! Is Robin a woman?"Nathan lunged forward and grabbed Robin by the damp collar. "Robin, explain yourself! What the hell is going on?" he asked in a trembling voice. Robin scrambled to shield her body with her hands, her eyes wide with terror as she looked at Kyle. "Get me out of here, Kyle! "Hurry, take me away. We need to go to the hospital. Everything will be fine once we get there."She was betting that Kyle would help her salvage this disaster for the sake of their unborn chil

In my previous life, Robin had used this exact same pretense to lure me to my death.I forced a shy nod and said, "Okay. I've prepared a gift for you as well."I followed her up to the top deck. The lighting was dismal, and the railing was trembling, as if it had been tampered with.Robin walked to the railing, her back to me. Her voice turned icy all of a sudden. "Look how deep the sea is. If you fell, you'd probably lose consciousness really quickly, wouldn't you?"Then, she spun around and tried to press a handkerchief that stank of ether against my face. I didn't even see it coming.Kyle, who was hiding in a corner, ran over and tried to hurl me over the railing. If this were the old me, I would have been paralyzed with fear. But since our rebirth, Cynthia and I had been secretly mastering self-defense. Before Kyle charged toward me, I suddenly dropped into a low crouch. His momentum sent him crashing straight into Robin. Her pregnancy made her unsteady on her feet, and the

The shop assistant scanned my purchase and replied, "Yeah. He said it was for his wife. It looked like he was in a real panic."I sneered inwardly. Kyle's wife? Well, Robin happened to be the eldest son of the Wright family— a man known to everyone in Jolenburg. "I'd like a box, too."I exited the pharmacy with the medication in hand and met up with Cynthia, who was hiding in a corner. "How did it go?" she asked anxiously. I passed her the box of medication and said coldly, "It's confirmed. That's progesterone to protect a fetus.""Why would a grown man need prenatal meds?" Cynthia took a deep breath, as if something had just exploded in her mind.Just then, a gust of wind caught the curtains of an apartment window. Through the narrow gap, I saw Robin. He had taken out his oversized coat and was wearing nothing but a thin, loose-fitting T-shirt. His side profile revealed a distinct, rounded chest and a soft curve in his lower abdomen.Kyle was kneeling in front of Robin

Cynthia was screaming in horror, but her grip on the reins remained loose. She let the horse bolt around and charge toward Robin. Time seemed to grind to a halt. Facing such primal danger, most people would instinctively shield their heads, cover their faces, or roll to the side to escape. However, Robin didn't protect his head or try to run. Instead, his body went rigid as he recoiled into a fetal position. His hands locked in a protective grip over his lower abdomen. Just then, someone lunged forward and shouted, "Robin, watch out!"Kyle charged in recklessly, pulling Robin into a tight embrace and using his back as a human shield to stand between Robin and the horse. Just as the horse was about to trample on Kyle, Cynthia yanked the reins tight. The black horse's front hooves flailed in the air before slamming back down, barely inches from the two men. The air was filled with swirling dust. Robin was deathly pale, trembling violently as he collapsed into Kyle's embrace. H

Cynthia and I stared at that ultrasound for five minutes in dead silence."Damn, Robin really does play the field, doesn't he? He likes both men and women?"Cynthia scratched her head and pointed at the name in the report. "Look. Robin was practically flirting with that illegitimate son. They're clearly secret lovers. And yet, he managed to get some woman pregnant on the side?" She added in disgust, "He's trying to trick one of us into being his wife to cover up his scandals and raise his bastard."I felt a nagging sense that something wasn't quite right, but that seemed like the most logical explanation thus far. After all, Robin was a man. He couldn't be the one pregnant. The most likely scenario was that he had brought someone to undergo the ultrasound scan. "It's disgusting." I rolled the report into a tight ball and said coldly, "So, to pave the way for his true love, Kyle, and give his bastard child a wealthy, legitimate mother, he was willing to sacrifice both of ou
