“THE BRIDE GETS THE CROWN. THE BROTHER GETS THE KING.” A mistake. That's what it is. But mistakes are addictive too, sweet as hell, alluring, and happen more than once. Nicolas and I were not supposed to be. He's the enemy and I'm supposed to be the last face he would see as he takes his last breath. But that's the thing about being sent after a devil. He lures you, binds you, and takes you over and over again. I should be scared. I am. And this one is sin. He's not just my enemy. He's my brother-in-law. We are not supposed to be, our story was not supposed to be written. But he's a taste of heaven on earth and I'll willingly die smiling. My name is Saint and Nicolas is my secret, my dark desire. “Devotion Becomes Dangerous When The Devil Kneels First.”

1: TO DARE A KING.

Saint grabbed one of the boys by a collar and threw him across the room. He hit the far wall with a crash, landing to the ground with a loud scream that soon turned to muffled groans.

"You asshole!" Another boy screamed from behind. He rushed forward with his fists close to Saint's head but the young man was pretty calculative and fast enough to reach back, grab his hand and throw him over his shoulder.

He also hit the floor hard. Saint immediately dropped to one knee, caught his arm and twisted it. The poor boy screamed, slamming his other hand against the ground.

"Ah–fuck – Stop it! Stop it!"

A satisfied smirk briefly landed on Saint's face before he let go of his hand. He stood up, turned and kicked another boy who had planned to attack him. His head snapped back and he dropped, groaning in pain.

The fourth person could only stare at Saint helplessly. He was too scared to move and also in a state of disbelief. Not for once had Saint acted like this towards anyone.

He was always the calm person who never fought back at them. He took all their insults without exchanging words with them and if anything, he had learned to stay away from them too.

But the person standing before him was very different. He was not calm at all and his eyes were deadly, almost like he was possessed.

He quickly turned back and tried to make a run for it but Saint wasn't going to let someone like him off the hook that easily. He kicked the table beside him so hard that it slid to the boy and tripped him over.

That was a four over four. Saint straightened up and looked around. The classroom was now in a mess with the tables and chairs scattered across. He had totally forgotten about the presence of everyone for a while until he looked around and noticed how dumbfounded they were. Their faces paled as if they had just seen a ghost

Saint reached up and wiped the blood from the corner of his lip then he walked to his table which was the only thing still in place. He picked up his glasses, cleaned the lenses and put them on.

He walked over to the corner of the classroom and picked up a bag,

"Saint."

Gabrielle appeared in front of him. She was a short and chubby lady with thick brown hair and almond shaped eyes. Her mouth was open, eyes wide like she'd just watched something she couldn't comprehend.

Saint understood her reaction and probably everyone else's. This was the first time he was standing up against the people who have done nothing but bully him.

He handed the nag to her. "Here."

She took it slowly. "Thank you." She said, uncertain. "But you didn't have to do that. I...I can take care of myself."

"Oh please, Gabrielle." Saint rolled his eyes and started walking toward the door in long strides while ignoring his classmates who moved aside quickly as if they were scared they might end up offending him in some ways.

Gabrielle caught up with him in the hallway.

"Stop walking so fast. You know I don't have long legs like you do." She complained but his pace only increased further. "Saint, where are you going?"

"To end it once and for all and I don't think it's suitable for you to be there."

"You can't just...there are better ways to handle this, you know that. If you go to him now, you're going to make everything worse. You know we don't have anyone to defend us."

Saint stopped walking and turned around to look at her.

"What better ways do you suggest, huh? To keep remaining silent? He crossed a line, Gabrielle and he's going to pay for it. Nicholas will regret the day he was born."

Nicholas was the school king and for whatever reason that wasn't clear to Saint, Nicholas hated him. Ever since he stepped his foot into this school, the idiot had been after his life.

What made it more annoying for Saint was that Nicholas never approached him in person but his minions did a great job filling in his absence. They could do nothing without his permission after all so their actions towards him were pre-approved by him.

"You know how powerful his family is. What if they decide to gun you down? What then?" Gabrielle folded her arms, posing as if she got him. Instead, Saint hissed.

"I'd like to see him try." Then he stormed off. Gabrielle blinked in disbelief and ran after him.

He marched to the seniors section, fists clenched, jaw tight and rage rushing through his veins. People moved away the moment they saw him approach. Even the teachers pretended not to see the issue that was about to start.

He kicked the door open, his eyes locked on Nicholas who was sitting far across the room. He looked up the moment the sudden intrusion happened. His frown was quickly replaced with a smirk when he saw who it was. A teacher that was with them quickly excused herself from the scene.

"Well...well...well, look who has come to pay me a visit. I was wondering when that would be." Nicholas spread his arms on the chair and crossed his legs. He blew air into his gum and continued chewing with a smile that only angered Saint.

"You have crossed the line." Saint growled, his fists clenched tighter.

"A line? What line?" He leaned forward, placing both hands on the table, unbothered and amused at his expression. "You have quite the nerve to confront me." His voice dropped to a mocking whisper. "Did you finally decide to come out of your shell?"

His goons around him laughed. Saint removed his glasses, ignoring them at first while the laughter persisted.

He lowered his head to wipe the lenses once again with the hem of his shirt. A few minutes later, he looked up, fixing his gaze on Nicholas who also met the intensity of Saint's eyes without backing down.

One was filled with rage that was so close to bursting out and the other was filled with teases...a nonchalant vibe perhaps.

Nicholas' eyes dragged over Saint slowly, almost in an insolent manner, like he had all the time in the world and Saint's patience wasn't a finite thing.

"You're going to apologise to her right now." He said and wore his glasses back, fixing them on the bridge of his nose. That wasn't a suggestion.

Nicholas rolled his tongue and let out a faint chuckle.

"I didn't know he was blind in both eyes," one of his goons laughed. Then he stood up, his expression that depicted silliness a few minutes ago had disappeared.

"Are you drunk, Saint? Do you have any idea who you're talking to?"

"Hey! You bastard! He is talking to... "

Saint didn't let him finish before grabbing the boy's throat, squeezing life out of him. He clawed at his hand desperately but Saint didn't budge while his eyes were on Nicholas.

The rest of the goons stood in defense but no one dared to touch him.

"Let me repeat myself." Saint's voice thundered. "You will apologise to Gabrielle. Now."

Gabrielle rushed to his side, trying to free the almost dead boy from his grip. "You're going to kill him. Saint, please...stop. They don't need to apologise."

Saint was adamant. Instead his grip tightened, glare still locked on Nicholas and the fact that Nicholas didn't care about the boy in his grip made his blood boil.

"You heard your girlfriend." Nicholas said calmly, but his voice unmistakably carried mockery. "Let him go."

"I don't think you heard me. I said, ‘apologize’ to her now."

"Or what?"

Saint's patience snapped. Oh, he was going to kill this motherfucker today.
