28. I Won't Stop Until I'm Done

Charlotte’s POV

Because I was so hungry, I ate the apple pie he ordered and even drank his coffee since he didn't touch it. He smiled at me and asked, "Oh, you're hungry? Then you told me you weren't. I think you told me a lie."

I used a towel to wipe my mouth and told her, "That's not a big deal. Thank you for the meal." I stood up and cleaned the table.

"Well, you should get to work. I'll find you a nice place to stay. Ralph told me that he kicked you out of the house last night, so I punished him for that."

I lowered my voice. “Why do you have to punish him? It was enough that you tortured him already and please don’t find a place for me, I’ll be staying with a friend in the meantime until I get my paycheck.”

“Why do you not want me to help you? I’m just concerned about you and to think that you’re seeing Cedric—”

I cut him off, “I’m not going to see him again.”

When he heard that, he smiled. I was about to say something, but Amara called me away to help another customer.

"I
