“Please don’t be mad at her. I was the one who asked her to play.” Mrs. Po intervened in the situation. She tried to prevent any trouble from happening.

Annaliese lowered her head a little to apologize. However, she had to refrain from saying a thing when she saw Meyling’s pointing finger at her.

“Still, she could’ve said no!” Meyling believed the girl was in the wrong no matter what. “This piano is off-limits!”

Mrs. Po touched her mistress’ arm. “She didn’t know. Now you may control your emotions,” she warned her. “Remember what the doctor said.” Her voice was low, like a whisper but it was still audible to Annaliese who stood close enough.

Meyling took a deep breath and did what Mrs. Po said.

“I’m sorry.” Annaliese finally got a chance to apologize.

“If you’re sorry, you should leave now,” commented Meyling harshly. “For goodness sake, why haven’t you understood the way I have been treating
