LOGINChapter five
Scarlett's pov "Is she awake?" I heard a small voice ask as I struggled to open my eyes. The voice sounded vaguely familiar but I just couldn't place it. I felt a poke at my side and my lips parted but no words left my lips. "Diana come back here," another familiar voice called out. My eyes slowly cracked open and as I tried to rise, I groaned from the sheer pain that shot through me. I heard a little shriek before there were retreating footsteps. "She's awake Aunt Nora," the little voice proclaimed and my brows furrowed lightly. Could it be? "Alright Diana, out you go. You aren't allowed to disturb the patients," the familiar voice told the child, and after a series of whining the child eventually left the room. "How are you feeling?" A soft voice asked me, seconds before Nora's familiar face came into my line of sight. I tried to speak but my throat was parched and my lips were cracked and dried, Nora seemed to notice my struggle and she picked up a bottle of water that rested on my side table and slowly brought it up to my lips. "Easy," she whispered as I greedily gulped down the water until the bottle was empty. "Nora?" My voice croaked as my brows furrowed and I looked at her while her lips parted in shock. Was I dead and this was the afterlife? Or was the universe just against me? The events of the last day came rushing into my mind and I gasped as I stared at Nora with wide eyes. Was everything I experienced...from losing my mate to getting burned at the stake just a bad dream? As much as I wished that were the case it was glaringly obvious that it was not. "How do you know my name?" She asked slowly. "How did I end up here?" I inquired ignoring her question. "Some men brought you back, they said they found you by the shore of the ocean," she informed me skeptically and I slowly nodded. "What pack is this?" I asked as my heart beat loudly in my chest. "The Nightshade pack...why?" Nora confirmed my suspicions and my lips parted in shock. What were the odds that I had landed up in my former pack? How was this even possible? "Hey, are you alright?" Nora, Silas' sister...my Silas, or at least before he was mine, asked as she stared at me worriedly. I tried to calm my breathing as I wrapped my head around what was going on. I struggled to rise but pain shot through me and I collapsed back onto the bed. "Take it easy for now. You've been unconscious for a whole day and I can only imagine your body hurts and you feel weak," Nora informed me as she began to check my vitals. "You need as much rest as you can get for now if you want to leave that bed anytime soon," she continued as she completed her check and I merely stared at her. "Everything seems alright. I'll have a light breakfast sent up for you since you really can't ingest anything heavy for the time being...you are very lucky though," Nora commented as she read some notes from her notepad. "Why do you say so?" I asked weakly. "Because when you were brought here you were pale and blue, it was obvious you had been in the water for a long time and you were barely alive... honestly I didn't think you would survive because we battled a fever all night, it only broke this morning," Nora explained and my heart dropped. At least that explained why I still felt cold despite the layers of blankets wrapped around me. "Why did those men bring me here? They don't know me and they could have left me to die," I pointed out. "We aren't exactly the heartless sort in this pack," she informed me. "Yet you burned your Luna at the stake without finding out if she was guilty," a bitter part within me reminded but I ignored it. "I'm a lone wolf, a rogue...what do you intend to do with me?" I questioned after a moment. "That's not for me to decide. That's Alpha Silas' call, whatever he decides to do with you stands," she informed me with a shrug and my heart dropped at the mention of my mate...former mate. My heart still ached as I recalled how he stared back at me as I got burned at those stakes with cold, unfeeling eyes. "He has been alerted that you are in the pack and a guard has been stationed in front of your room -" she began and a small frown graced my lips. "So I'm your prisoner now?" I cut her off. "No but you are a rogue and we let you into our pack. We don't know if you harbour ill intentions and we have to keep an eye on you," Nora explained and although it made perfect sense, it still grated on my nerves. "When you are feeling much stronger Alpha Silas would be notified and he would come to talk to you by himself, that would determine what happens to you next," she continued as I stared blankly at the wall opposite me. Nora remained silent as she stared at me but I paid her no mind, she would go when she was ready to. My heart leaped and bled within me at the same time, at the thought of seeing Silas again. "Can I ask what happened?" She broke into my thoughts. "How did you end up in the water? There are a few bruises and cuts along your body," she informed me but I remained silent and turned away from her. She sighed as she seemed to get the hint that I wouldn't be telling her anything and she headed to the door. "If you need anything just let me know." She announced before she closed the door behind her, leaving me with my thoughts. I stared at the familiar walls of the pack clinic and I couldn't help but wonder how my entire world turned upside down in a matter of mere days.Chapter 137Scarlett's povI snatched my hand back and glared at Asher who had a similar fire in his eyes."What do you think you are doing?" I gritted out as he approached me slowly."You aren't going to get away with a lame excuse Scarlett. Why are you so interested in Elara's death and most especially why are you interested in whatever I said about her after she died?" Asher inquired."What does it matter to you? Are you scared I'll uncover the truth and find out what you did?" I asked but Asher's brows creased as he stared at me."What are you talking about?" He questioned and I scoffed in disbelief."You don't have to pretend with me Asher, I saw the note in the library," I announced as I watched his face closely but his expression never changed."I pushed Silas to embrace his feelings for you but it seems I was wrong about you. What is your motive? Why did you come to this pack?" Asher asked and my nostrils flared."Really Asher? You would rather try to turn the tables on me tha
Chapter 136Scarlett's povA note slipped from the book and my brows furrowed as I bent and picked it up. What was it with the library and harbouring secret notes?I shook my head as I unfolded the note and scanned its contents. My lips parted in shock as I read the note till the end. I scanned the back of the note but there was no sender address but it was addressed to...Asher.Just as I had been suspecting Asher had a hand in my framing and death. The letter showed that this was merely a reply to whatever Asher had sent the other person. Just as I had thought whoever did this wasn't working alone.I clutched onto the note tightly as I tried to make sense of what was on the piece of paper.'The Luna has been executed as planned Beta, the only thing left now is the disposal of Alpha Silas.' the note simply read and it didn't take a genius to know who the 'beta' was...The library door pushed open and I quickly hid the note in my pocket just as Aria strolled into the room."Scarlett, a
Chapter 135Silas' povA small smile made its way onto my lips as I took a spoon from the vanilla cake Scarlett had brought me.My blood rushed south as I recalled how Scarlett had blushed prettily and how she had looked like she was about to melt on the spot when Asher came in.A part of me understood why she wanted to keep our relationship under wraps for now. Still, the larger part of me wanted to be able to touch her freely whenever I pleased and not get embarrassed if we were caught in a compromising situation.A knock broke through my thoughts and I called out to whoever it was to come in.Asher made his way into my office with a smirk planted on his lips.He cleared his throat as he took a seat in front of me and I wanted to wipe off the smug grin on his lips."Well that was definitely an interesting sight," Asher commented and I growled."When did this happen? Before you left to go and find her or after?" He probbed and I knew he was taking immense pleasure from this."Why did
Chapter 134Scarlett's povI bit my lips as I stared down at the cake I had baked for Silas. It was still a bit early so I decided to wait so I wouldn't seem overeager but I did want to see him as soon as possible, especially since he hadn't come to my room last night and I had shamefully waited up for him.I pushed the disappointment I had felt aside as I picked up the cake and headed towards his office.I gulped as I knocked and when his gruff reply came from the other side of the door, I made my way into the room."Good morning," I mumbled as I paced the cake in front of Silas and he stared from it to me."I brought you a little something," I bit my lip as I shuffled awkwardly on my feet.Silas's lips stretched into a wide grin and he rose from his chair and approached me.His arms circled my waist and he drew me to him."You didn't have to," he muttered as his head rested in the crook of my neck and he inhaled deeply."Did you just sniff me?" I asked through giggles and I could fe
Chapter 133 Scarlett's pov "How do you know so much about wolves?" Silas asked Japer just as the pates for dessert were being cleared. "I had some friends when I was younger, they attended the same high school as I did but I noticed there was something different about them, and one day I just saw them change into their wolf forms." Jasper began after he cleared his throat. "As you can imagine I was terrified and dashed away in a mad run but they chased after me and I was so sure they were going to kill me. I tried to over some log and they surrounded me, leaving me nowhere else to run and I begged them not to kill me as they changed back to humans." He continued while everyone listened with rapt attention. "I can't imagine how scary that must have been for you," Aria commented and Nora growled lowly and all eyes turned to her. "I umh... I was thinking the same thing," Nora offered lamely as she cleared her throat and her eyes met mine across the table and I quirked a questioning
Chapter 132 Scarlett's pov I walked into the dining room and took my seat seconds before Silas walked into the room and everyone at the table rose. Asher and Aria were also present and I couldn't help but recall my suspicions of Asher before I had left the pack. That was something I would have to look into now that I was back. Silas walked to the head of the table and his gaze was fastened on the human beside Nora. The man was surprisingly not what I had pictured in my head, he was tall with a solid frame and curly hair. I had to admit I was a bit worried before but seeing him now he looked pretty capable of taking care of Nora and giving her all she deserved. "Everyone this is Jasper, my mate," Nora announced as she held onto his arm before she pointed and introduced each of us to him. "I'm glad you welcomed me into your pack alpha, I'm honoured," Jasper told Silas who merely stared at him with a blank expression. "I barely had a choice," Silas finally said as we took our seat
