LOGINChapter six
Silas' pov "What is the meaning of this?" My voice boomed loudly in my office as I glared at Nora but she stared back at me unperturbed. "The girl was injured, what did you expect them to do?" She retorted as she folded her arms in front of her chest. "That was not why they were sent out; they should have stick to the mission, " I grinned. "Really Silas? You taught them better than that, you taught all your pack members better than to leave someone who needs help for dead." Nora stared at me pointedly while I turned away from her. "You said she was a rogue," I reminded her with the quirk of my brow. "That doesn't make her less of a wolf, come on Silas." She called out to my back. "But we don't know her motive. This might be a setup...a plan to infiltrate our pack," I remind her. "And what if she's merely an innocent woman who needed help and was stranded?" She countered and I remained silent. "Have you treated her?" I asked after a moment. "Yes," Nora nodded. "Then she can be on her way once she's strong enough. I don't want her staying a second longer than necessary and I hope you stationed enough guards in front of her door, we can-" I began. "Can you just breathe Silas?" Nora cut me off as she rounded me till she was standing in front of me. My nostrils flared as my wolf growled within me but I remained silent. Only Nora, my little sister could talk to me in such a tone, interrupt me, and get away with it. "I'm not an amateur, I know how these things work. I stationed a guard in front of the room and I made it clear to her that if she tried any funny business she would be punished accordingly," Nora assured me and my eyes scanned her face and I sighed. "We both know you don't have a mean bone in your body to say any of those things Nora," I called her out on her bluff and she chuckled guiltily. "Alright you are right, I might not have put it in those exact words but I'm sure she got my point." She shrugged. Nora's eyes glazed over and I could tell she was thinking about something but I remained silent as I waited for her to come out with it. "There was something she said that was a bit weird though," Nora commented after a moment and my wolf was immediately on alert. "What did she say?" I asked as I shoved my hands into my pockets. "When she woke up she called me...by my name as though she knew me and she seemed shocked to see me and where she was," Nora explained and my eyes turned to slits. "She's a spy," I said without a moment of hesitation as I turned and made to head towards the door but Nora blocked me, stopping me in my tracks. "You can't just con-" She began. "How else can you explain her knowing your name?" I roared and Nora took a step back. "This is an insult to my pack, the least the rogues could do was send a competent spy rather than a novice." I let out a dry laugh. "Diana was also in the room and kept calling out to me, it's possible she simply heard her and pieced it together," Nora suggested and I squinted at her. "You don't even know her, why are you making excuses to keep her here?" I asked and Nora looked away from me. "I can't explain it," she began as she let out a deep sigh. "She seems familiar, like an old friend I'd forgotten about." She divulged and I remained silent as I waited for her to continue. "When her eyes opened and our gazes locked...I was sure I knew her and when she called my name..." She trailed off. "I know it doesn't make any sense but I don't know how else to explain it, Silas." She sighed as she rubbed her temples. "It's alright, you don't have to explain any more than you already have," I told her. "I know you don't trust rogues and neither do I Silas but she's different, don't ask me how I know...I just do." Nora said as she grabbed my hand with both of hers. "Just come look at her, speak to her for a second. You'll see she can't even hurt a fly and you might even see what I see in her." Nora continued before I could speak and as I stared down at her determined eyes I sighed because I knew I had already lost. "Fine-" I began and Nora squealed. "I'm not saying she can stay in the pack, I'm just agreeing to see and speak with her. I have to determine if she's a threat to this pack," I explained and some of Nora's excitement waned. "Nora I know you and I know what you are trying to do," I began and Nora furrowed her brows in confusion. "What are you talking about?" She asked. "You are bored and lonely, especially now that-" I cut myself off at the reminder of my dead mate. My heart still ached just thinking about her and I shut out all memories of her. "Never mind, let's go see this rogue." I gritted, annoyed by myself. "Silas, are you alright?" Nora asked and without looking at her I could tell she had on that sickening look of pity. "I know it's not-" she began but I pulled away from her, cutting her short. "I'm fine Nora, let's go," I muttered as I walked past her and out the door, the last thing I needed was a pep talk. My wolf howled within me, nudging and itching at me to head towards the borders but I ignored him. I had to see this rogue issue through before anything else.Chapter 179Scarlett's pov "You aren't as sly as you think," Silas commented as he stared at me with an amused look."What are you talking about?" I feigned obliviousness, and he shook his head as he approached the bed."How are you feeling?" He asked as he assessed my cuts, which were healing nicely."I'm much better because I have the most attentive doctor," I teased as my cheeks heated under Silas' stare."I can't wait for you to be back to perfect health," he whispered as his eyes landed on my lips and my throat dried."You weren't in bed when I woke up this morning," I pouted, as I had every night since I had returned, slept, and warmed up in Silas' arms."Asher and Nora contrived a plan with the border officers to get me away from you." He growled as his eyes shone with annoyance."I'm sure it's because you weren't letting anyone an inch near me." I pointed out but he frowned."You need-" he began."Your rest," I completed as that was the song Silas seemed to be ringing in my e
Chapter 178Scarlett's pov A soft knock sounded from the door before the door cracked open and Nora slipped into the room. She rushed to my bedside and I could see the mischief in her eyes."What do you think you are doing?" I asked her with a small smile on my face."Do you know what it took me to bypass Silas?" Nora panted and I chuckled. Silas had been keeping a close eye on me for the last two days and he has kept me on strict bedrest. I hadn't left his room since he brought me in and he didn't let anyone in.This was the first time I was seeing Nora since I returned and I was unsure how it would go, she no doubt had a million and one questions to ask me."The way Silas was keeping you under lock and key I was convinced I would find you in a fatal condition." She commented as she settled on the bed beside me."I just had some little cuts, nothing too serious," I told her and she nodded."How are you feeling?" She asked soberly and I knew that was a prelude to a conversation I did
Chapter 177Scarlett's pov I pulled Silas into my arms and his shoulders shook as he sobbed into my neck and a lump lodged in my throat.I recalled all the times I had imagined this very moment but all the other times, I was convinced I would feel a deep sense of satisfaction seeing Silas so broken and on his knees but all I really felt right now was pain.I realized I had forgiven Silas a long time ago and I had fallen in love with him all over ago."Forgive me Elara, please forgive me." Silas kept on whispering into my neck and my heart broke as a single tear slid down my face and I hugged him more tightly."There is nothing to forgive Silas, I already forgave you a long time ago," I told him and he slowly pulled back a bit to stare at me."Do you mean that?" He asked as his red eyes searched my face to ascertain if I was telling him the truth and I offered him a small smile."When I arrived at this pack I was so bitter and enraged. The sight of you alone was enough to make my bloo
Chapter 176Scarlett's pov I stretched as I came back to consciousness, and my eyes slowly opened. A sad smile graced my lips as I recalled the vivid dream I had had about Silas, it had felt so real.I made to rise but then I stopped in my tracks as I realized I was on a bed. I looked down at the bed before I proceeded to survey my surroundings and my heart hammered against my ribcage as I realized I was in Silas' room. How was this even possible? That could only mean...it was, in fact, not a dream and Silas had indeed found me, but how could that be?I let out a shaky breath as I made to rise from the bed once more, ignoring Silas' overpowering scent which wafted around the room, but pain shot through me."It would be better if you stay on the bed, you haven't healed properly." A voice called out to me and my head immediately snapped towards the window and there he was.Silas was leaning against the wall beside the window and staring into the night. He slowly turned his head and hi
Chapter 175Scarlett's pov I groaned as I dragged myself against the tree and allowed my legs to give up as I crumbled onto the floor and leaned against the tree.I had to keep going, I knew I had to keep going if I didn't want the rogues to catch up with me but I just couldn't.My breaths were shallow and I knew I had lost a lot of blood. I assessed my cuts and tried to stop the bleeding as best as I could with whatever herb I could find around me.I hoped I hadn't left a trail for the rogues because they would easily be able to trace and capture me and I would be completely unable to stop them.I stretched my hands out in front of me and assessed them, wondering if that was what Scarlett meant when she told me to look within myself. My hands and chest still tingled from the power that surged through me and I wondered how the hell I was able to escape so many rogues.I knew the power I had hadn't been mine and that could only mean it had been Scarlett's. I touched my chest as I reca
Chapter 174Silas' pov Just as I stepped out of the office, Nora stopped me in my tracks with tears brimming in her eyes and instantly I knew she knew.Nora and I stared at each other for a moment without saying a word to each other and Nora swallowed."Is it true?" Nora broke the silence between us and I felt Asher's presence behind me."Is what true?" I asked and Nora's nostrils flared."Don't do that, don't act oblivious when you know exactly what I'm asking." She gritted out but I remained calmly silent in front of her."Is Scarlett really Elara?" She probbed and I quirked a brow at her."Who told you that?" I asked as I turned back to Asher who looked away from me guiltily."Don't blame him, I literally had to force it out of him because I noticed he was acting weird," Nora called out and I turned back to her."Scarlett is Elara," I announced and Nora wobbled on her feet almost as though she would crumble to the floor and Asher brushed past me and held her in his arms, holding h
