LOGINWren's POV
White walls, white ceilings. Those were the first things my brain registered when I opened my eyes. The second was the sharp throbbing wave of pain that seemed to push through me every minute. The third thing I registered was the warm, soft hand gripping mine. The hand was connected to a sleeping Caelum reclined uncomfortably on a seat. Goddess, the lights are too bright I thought. I winced and tried to move my other arm cover my eyes but my body protested with pain. I groaned, the sound woke Caelum up. He was by my side immediately,“Wren? You're awake! How do you feel? Do you need anything?” I guess he noticed how I squinted from the light because he turned a knob to dim the lights. I could finally open my eyes,“I feel like I was run over by a truck. A really big truck carrying loads of cement.” My voice was raspy like I hadn't used it in days and my throat felt really dry. Caelum brought over a glass of water and guided the straw into my mouth,”Careful now.” I slowly sipped the water which was a huge relief to my dry mouth. A little water spilled on me, it was then I noticed how badly Caelum's hands were shaking and how his eyes flickered constantly from violet to black and back again. He was fighting his wolf. “Caelum? What's wrong?" I hesitantly placed one hand on his arm. He ran a shaking hand through his hair. “I thought I'd lost you." He whispered, the tears in his voice broke my heart. “Caelum-" I started but he cut me off. “We found you at the bottom of the ditch, I didn't think I'd get to you in time and when you were finally brought out, you were so broken, there were bones sticking out and I just……I almost lost it, because it was my fault and-” it was my turn to cut him off. " No baby.” I was shocked at the term of endearment but I continued because I needed to reassure him, “it was not your fault, if I hadn't been there, the little girl might have fallen. My adult body can handle it, her little one can't. No regrets.” " But-” he protested but I shushed him. " No regrets.” I repeated firmly. He placed his forehead on mine and closed his eyes. “I don't know what I would have done if I had lost you. You can hate me as much as you want and even poison me, just don't leave me.” He exhaled shakily. " I wouldn't.” I vowed, bringing up one hand to gently caress his jaw. Like he said, I can go back to hating him but right now, we both needed this. The clearing of a throat reminded us of where we were. Caelum growled, I flicked his nose, the look of betrayed shock on his face was worth it. He pouted adorably making me giggle. The doctor smiled at our antics, “Luna, how do you feel?" “Really really sore.” I said, Caelum snickered and my face turned red, the pervert, I thought. But he is our pervert, Astrid said dreamily. “That is to be expected, you fell from such a height and you broke quite a number of bones. Your casts came off yesterday.” My eyes widened," Yesterday? How long was I asleep for?" “Well, you had a lot of injuries, we had to put you in a medical induced coma so your body could heal itself. You were in the coma for four days.” He smiled warmly, I exhaled in relief, four days, that's not so bad. “What can you remember from the incident?" The doctor asked gently, there was just something about him that put me at ease. I hummed in thought,“Well, I was talking a stroll, then I heard a girl cry for help and I ran to help me. I didn't have any rope so I had to use a twine, I thought it was strong enough to bear my weight but I'm guessing it was not.” I smiled sheepishly. There was an itch at the back of brain and it felt like I was missing something but I pushed the thought aside. He jotted down somethings in his clipboard. “That correlates with what Missy said. That removes any suspicions of amnesia.” He said to Caelum and checked my pupils with a penlight. " Missy?” I asked when he was done. " Yes, the girl you saved. She and her family are outside with the other visitors that you have. Would you like to see them?” I looked at Caelum and he nodded to me, I could practically hear what he was saying. It was my choice. “Yes, thank you. Doc, could you get me something for the pain?" I asked, playing with the edge of my blanket. “I’ll let them in and I'll send a nurse to give you something for the pain. If you'll excuse me, Alpha, Luna.” He bowed to both of us. " Thank you doc, for everything.” I smiled gratefully. He sent me a warm smile in response, " it was such a honor to meet you Luna." He bowed once more and left. I turned to Caelum and asked, “I haven't done the Luna ceremony yet, are they allowed to call me Luna?” “The Luna ceremony is more of a formality, you're my mate so automatically you're the Luna but it isn't official until the Luna ceremony.” I twisted the blanket between my fingers anxiously at the thought of being a Luna. Caelum places his hand on mine and interlocked our fingers, “talk to me." He urged gently. “I don't know if I'm Luna material." I huffed and pouted. “That's funny because I know you're going to be the best that this pack has ever had.” He tapped a finger on my nose causing me to scrunch up my nose. His eyes twinkled with mirth. The door opened and Missy and her parents came in. Missy came over to my bed side to hand me a bouquet of flowers. “Thank you Luna." She glanced at Caelum shyly and hurried back to her father. Her mother held my arm, grateful tears running down her face. “I don't know what I would have done if I had lost Missy, thank you Luna, thank you for saving our world.” She whispered. My eyes grew misty, I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded. “We owe you a great debt of gratitude, anything you need, that we can offer, is yours.” Missy's father said, bowing low to me. I shooked my head rapidly, ”you don't owe me anything, it's the least anyone could have done to help a child in need.” They bowed once again before they left, Missy still stealing shy glances at Caelum. Soren, Lucas, Robin and a strange girl that I hadn't seen before came in. Robin immediately rushed to my side. Caelum excused himself after placing a kiss on my forehead, I blushed lightly which he saw judging from the smirk he had on his face when he left. “How are you feeling? Are you okay?” She asked frantically, her eyes darting all over my body looking for more injuries. Astrid growled and prowled around my head, her hackles raised and her fangs bared. What's going on? I asked her but she gave no reply. I knew she didn't like Robin but I had never seen her this agitated before. “Wren?" Robin called my attention, I was so focused on Astrid that I forgot that she asked me a question. “Yeah, I'm okay, I'm in a lot of pain but other than that, I'm okay." I smiled reassuringly at her. " You took quite a tumble.” Soren's face was stoic but I could see the worry in his eyes. “I guess you can call me Humpty Dumpty now." I joked to lighten the mood, it worked. He rolled his eyes and I saw a hint of a smile playing on his lips. “What happened out there?" Robin asked, carding her hand through my hair. It made me uncomfortable but I didn't show it. “Well, I learnt the hard way not to use twine for rope climbing.” I joked, something darker passed behind her eyes but it was gone before I could try to read it, I passed it off as worry. I turned my attention to the stranger in the room,“Who's this?" " It's a pleasure to meet you Luna, I'm Emily, Soren’s girlfriend.” She stepped forward and my nose picked up on her scent, the scent of sandalwood.Wren's POV White walls, white ceilings. Wren's POVI barged into Caelum's office slamming the doors shut behind me. I was beyond mad, I had reached my tipping point. Half of the anger drained away when I saw how his eyes lit up when he saw me.The date we had changed something, as much I didn't want to admit it. We had been sending each other shy smiles and he had been giving me a lot of winks which made me blush like a school girl, it always made his chest puff up with pride afterwards.I knew that what was about to go down would alter things but it didn't stop me.“Hi." He smiled boyishly at me and gave a short adorable wave.I looked at him, truly looked and realize that many people would see the tattoos, the lithe body, the white hair, the piercings, the cold yet powerful violet eyes and wouldn't realize of how much of a softie the Crimson Alpha actually is.I knew of his blood crazed side and though I hadn't seen it yet, I couldn't conceal the two sides of Caelum together.“We need to talk." For all my rage, my voice c
Wren's POVThe whispers had grown louder by the next morning. Every where I went, I saw group of people hurdled together whispering loudly. The whispers stopped when I got closer though, I had become the prime suspect just for being the last person seen arguing with Leslie. It didn't help that I was already an outsider for something they believed my parents did, Robin stayed by my side through it all.We were presently at the training grounds watching the men train. My eyes were fixated on a shirtless Caelum. His skin was tanned and golden, he had a full sleeve of tattoos on one arm. He was practically beating the shit out of the other guy, anger radiated off him.“He is very yummy, isn't he?" A voice said from behind me, I cut off the growl threatening to come out.“Hello Jessica." I smiled stiffly. Robin wasn't here to rescue me this time."Relax tight pants, I'm not here to cause trouble." She walked towards me with an elegance that I was envious of. She looked as stunning as she
Wren's POVBeware the love interest….I was slowly going out of my mind, everytime I closed my eyes, all I could see was the image of the bright blue wrapper with red hearts. It was haunting me.My ears were ringing and I could feel arms moving me, voices were trying to talk to me but I wasn't processing any of it.The next thing I knew, I was in a place with lilac walls. My room, my brain sluggishly supplied. Astrid was silent, I guess she also felt the weight of what we had done.I killed someone. Me. I killed Leslie. The ringing in my ears were getting louder and my legs felt numb.“I’ll be back." I heard someone say and the door was shut. Leslie's blood was on my hand, I'm a murderer. Hysterical laughter bubbled out of my and soon, they turned to ugly, heaving sobs. What would the pack do when they found out? I was scared, I was guilty and I was alone. The door opened again and I felt warm gentle hands on my shoulders. I lifted my head up from where it was between my knees, it wa
I was reading the blurb of a book I had picked out of a shelf when I saw a pair of black Italian leather shoes approach me. By the unique smell of rain on earth, I knew it was Caelum.“Let's go on a date." His deep voice whispered in my ears, his breath was minty and warm as it fanned my face. A sliver of pleasure passed through me and I shuddered.“Excuse me, why would I want to go out on a date with you?" My voice came out husky even to my ears and I sounded breathless. Get a grip of yourself, I thought. His eyes darkened and I saw his gaze linger on my lips which were parted. I knew my pupils were dilated in pleasure and my breath came out in pants.I hated him for being attractive and I hated myself for being even more attracted to him.“You owe me, don't you think?" He murmured, one hand came up to hold my jaw. Sparks ignited at the point of contact between our skin and I fought the moan that wanted to escape.I knew that he was talking about the poisoned muffin. I shifted my ga
I snuck down the hallway, looking for the weapons room that Robin had shown me earlier. I found it at the end of the hallway and quietly creeped in after making sure that was no soul in sight.I browsed the shelves, looking for something in particular. I found it sitting pretty in the midst of some pretty daggers. A bottle of cyanide.I smiled gleefully as I grabbed the small bottle, taking with it a small dagger with intricate design and a pretty emerald gem on the handle. I pocketed the dagger.I went over the plan in my head. I had bought a blueberry muffin earlier in the market, something I know Caelum couldn't resist. My ears scanned for noises as I carefully used a needle to withdraw the cyanide. My heart was beating incredibly fast as I slowly inserted the cyanide into the muffin. A part of me was screaming that it was wrong but this was something I had to do.Once I had finished, I quickly replaced the bottle of cyanide and silently, I made my way out of the weapons room, car
