Chapter 11: What's The Commotion?

"Help me, please?"  I hear out of nowhere and a lot of screaming.  I smell fire and realize too late that the house just down the way is on fire after I look out the window.

Not knowing what to do, I jump out of bed and leave the security of my bedroom.  Searching the house, I can't find Ryder or anyone else and hope that they are already there.  Running for it, I manage to get there in a matter of seconds and notice that it is eerily quiet except for the raging roar of the fire.  

No one else is here and when I search around, I see no evidence of anyone ever being here.  Where is everyone?  The screaming I previously heard is gone too, but replaced with a strange humming sound in my head, as if someone is purposely blocking my senses.  Turning around to find Ryder, I feel a pain surge throughout my head and hear a thud.
