Mag-log inAlpha Rowan's POV
"You’re disturbing Miss Lilith, who has just given birth and clearly doesn’t need this noise. I’d appreciate you leaving," Doctor Harry said, shocking even me.
I froze for a moment, confusion stirring, but fought to keep it hidden as I glared at them.
The only reason I’d allowed them to speak was because Lilith wasn’t here. Without her wolf, she couldn’t hear from this distance. I had deliberately taken them away from Harry’s workspace.
"Your time here is up. Show them the way out of this pack, and never let their feet cross it again," I ordered my guards.
"Yes, Alpha."
I hadn’t welcomed them with open arms. I knew firsthand what they’d done to Lilith—I’d witnessed it. For a second, I thought they had changed, maybe come to ask forgiveness, which was why I let them in. Now, I regretted it.
At least now I knew better. It would guide my decision-making.
Mark—or whatever his name was—I remembered him vividly. That day, he dragged her out with hate in his eyes, like she was nothing more than an object. That hate hadn’t changed. He’d do it again.
His eyes burned with hostility, poorly masked with false politeness. His lips curled into something that tried to be a smile but ended as a smirk—just as my guards dragged them out.
The audacity.
The next time he crossed me, I’d burn him before he even thought of shifting.
"Calm down, Rowan. You can’t do that while your pack is watching," Luna Rachel whispered, tapping my shoulder.
I’d almost forgotten she was linked to my thoughts. I hadn’t zoned her out.
"I’m fine. I just don’t know why I let them in." I muttered, then turned to Doctor Harry.
"How is she?"
"Better, now that they’re gone," he said, and my heart sank.
"What? How did she know they were here? Did someone tell her?"
He shook his head, scoffing. "No. She heard everything." He said it so casually and started back toward the building, but I stopped him.
Impossible.
"That’s not possible. She doesn’t have a wolf. She shouldn’t hear from this distance," I argued.
He froze, turning sharply. "She doesn’t what? How come no one told me? She looked like she heard every word—she told me herself to send them away!"
"Why does it matter? That wasn’t—"
He cut me off, suddenly furious. "Why does it matter?"
Why was he angry?
"How do you expect a wolfless werewolf to carry a cub made from royalty? A heavy cub? Are you both kidding me? I told you I needed every piece of information about her, and you left out something this important?"
It hit me like a stone. The miscarriage.
"No wonder she lost the cub. How did she even carry it that long?" Rachel asked softly behind me, and my heart broke.
"I need to make sure her womb is still intact after that kind of pressure and power surge," Dr. Harry said, hurrying off. I grabbed his arm again.
"Wait. If she really doesn’t have a wolf, how the hell did she hear us? I brought them far away so she wouldn’t."
"If she heard every word—and she did—then you messed up, Alpha. She practically had a panic attack just from hearing their voices," he confirmed.
"Shit," I muttered through clenched teeth.
"Is she okay? Can we see her?" Rachel asked quickly.
Harry sighed. "I already answered that. Unless she changes her mind—and she won’t, because Talia’s with her. I need to check if her womb is still fit to conceive. That alone would be a miracle. Excuse me."
And just like that, he left us standing there, confused.
I hated not knowing. It twisted me up inside.
How had she heard us? Had her wolf awakened overnight because of the baby?
"Rowan, do you think we should consider what her brother said—about her being useless? What if she really can’t give us this cub?" Rachel asked, and I turned to glare.
"Did you really just say that? At least she—"
I stopped myself. Those words would cut her too deep.
"What were you going to say?" she pressed.
"Forget it," I muttered.
Thankfully, she didn’t push. I had been about to say that Lilith had carried a cub for five months, something Rachel had never done. The thought alone was cruel. I swallowed it.
"I think we should go home and wait," she said gently.
"No. I hate not knowing. And I already said I’ll spend the night here."
Before she could protest, I called her guards.
"Escort your Luna for an afternoon nap," I ordered, then walked back to the building.
Lilith would let me in—one way or another. At this point, she had no choice.
Inside, Harry had already gone into her room. I didn’t want to barge in and startle them, so I sat near the door, tapping my foot impatiently.
My guards lingered close, and suddenly their presence grated on me.
"Can you all just give me some space? Let the air touch me."
They bowed quickly, muttering apologies as they stepped back. They still didn’t sit.
I strained to hear inside, but Harry’s soundproof charm blocked his voice. Shame he hadn’t cast it both ways—then Lilith wouldn’t have overheard earlier. Still, something told me it wasn’t the charm’s fault.
The door creaked open, and I leapt up like a wolf awaiting news of his mate’s safe delivery.
"Is she okay?" I asked immediately.
Doctor Harry sighed, met my eyes with concern, and pushed the door wider.
"She wants to see you. Come in."
Lilith’s POVI waited quietly for Alpha Rowan to come in since I couldn’t see the door from where I lay. When he stepped in, I felt him. This was different, it wasn’t just knowing, it was a pull, like he was part of me.Was this the bond people spoke of between mates? Was this how he felt whenever I was near?I wanted to cry. This was the closest I had ever come to feeling like a complete wolf.Moments later, Talia shifted slowly, and his face appeared beside me. He took my hands in his, and the contact stirred fire within me.What was this?"Hey," he whispered softly, crouching low so his eyes met mine. "Are you okay?"I nodded, tears sliding down my face. The feeling was whole, complete, like I’d found someone who could carry my pain with me."Don’t cry, please. My heart hurts when you do," Rowan whispered, wiping away my tears.I sniffed, forcing a smile. "I’m not crying. I’m happy."He kissed the back of my hand, and my body only grew hotter. I wanted him to hold me, to touch me—a

Lilith’s POV"I'm Felisha Thronegrave, Lilith's mother. How is she doing?" I overheard a voice from the corridor, and nausea washed over me.What the hell was she doing here?"No, I'm not alone. I came with one of my sons, Mark Thronegrave.""Hello, I'm Mark. We are here to see Alpha Rowan and my sister, Lilith. We heard she is here."I could imagine his smile, and my body froze. Every sense in me heightened. That voice—it hadn’t changed. My hands trembled as I tried to reach for something, anything to defend myself. But I couldn’t even lift them.A few minutes ago, I was staring at the white lines on the ceiling, hollow, like my only joy had been ripped away. And I wasn’t wrong—the only thing that made me valuable in this pack was gone. As I wondered what they now thought of me, my nightmares appeared. The door creaked open, and my breath hitched. Air refused to enter my lungs. They had come to mock me. They should’ve come yesterday—or two days ago—when everything was going well and
Alpha Rowan's POV"We've lost the baby," Doctor Harry announced, and from my side view, I noticed my Luna’s already tense face turn pale as she stared at him."And Lilith? How is she?" I asked without looking at Rachel."Lilith is fine, Alpha. She’s finding it hard to get over the loss, but physically, she’s okay." I sighed deeply and rubbed my temples."I told you not to get your hopes up. It’s quite usual to lose the first one. I was actually surprised it lasted this long," the doctor added, clearly trying to console us."I don’t get it. What exactly happened? You don’t just wake up one morning and have a miscarriage," I pressed.I couldn’t understand it. One minute she was fine and doing well—I made sure of that—and the next she was losing the baby."Oh, well, that possibility isn’t completely ruled out. But that’s where your Luna comes in." His eyes fixed on Rachel, and I saw her twist uncomfortably in her seat."What happened, babe?" I asked softly, turning to look at her."It wa
Lilith’s POVFive months later…“Talia, run a bath for me. I think I’m ready to shower now,” I said, resting on the bed with my heavy stomach and a novel in hand.“I’m on it, Princess,” she replied, rushing with buckets of hot water.I tried to push myself up.“Princess, please wait—I’ll help you when I’m done!” she cried, nearly panicked.“I’m fine, Talia. I can stand on my own.” I chuckled. Why were they treating me like I was sick?“Please, let me do my job. Luna Rachel told me not to let you stand alone.”“I’m pregnant, not sick.” I laughed, sitting upright. It was my fifth month with Alpha Rowan’s first child, and the pack’s expectations were sky-high.For the first time in my life, I felt important. Luna Rachel pampered me endlessly since the pregnancy was confirmed. I did almost nothing, cautious only of getting fat from all the food.Alpha Rowan was excited, though distant. I once overheard him scolding Beta Cole for running his mouth, warning him it could land him in prison.
13Lilith’s POVTwo months later…"I'm pregnant?" I whispered.Doctor Harry nodded, his eyes fixed on the results in his hands. My heart sank, yet a smile tugged at my lips as I sat across from him in his office."I need to inform the Alpha and Luna. They’re waiting outside," he said, finally moving toward the door."How many weeks?" My voice trembled."Three weeks and a few days," he replied with a small scoff, finally meeting my eyes."Thank you, Doc," I whispered."I’m glad you’re happy, but don’t get carried away. Anything could still go wrong.""Nothing will," I cut in quickly. He gave a short laugh, muttering my name, "Lilith," before stepping out.Alone, I walked to the mirror, resting my hand on my stomach. In just weeks, I was carrying another life. It didn’t matter that the child came from Alpha Rowan and Luna Rachel’s requirements—I still felt attached. Two months since Doctor Harry’s arrival, and here I was, pregnant. He had been gentle, probably the kindest man I’d met.
