Lilith’s POV

Two months later…

"I'm pregnant?" I whispered.

Doctor Harry nodded, his eyes fixed on the results in his hands.

My heart sank, yet a smile tugged at my lips as I sat across from him in his office.

"I need to inform the Alpha and Luna. They’re waiting outside," he said, finally moving toward the door.

"How many weeks?" My voice trembled.

"Three weeks and a few days," he replied with a small scoff, finally meeting my eyes.

"Thank you, Doc," I whispered.

"I’m glad you’re happy, but don’t get carried away. Anything could still go wrong."

"Nothing will," I cut in quickly.

He gave a short laugh, muttering my name, "Lilith," before stepping out.

Alone, I walked to the mirror, resting my hand on my stomach. In just weeks, I was carrying another life. It didn’t matter that the child came from Alpha Rowan and Luna Rachel’s requirements—I still felt attached.

Two months since Doctor Harry’s arrival, and here I was, pregnant.

He had been gentle, probably the kindest man I’d met. Surprisingly, he was close friends with the royal physician.

I remembered how that man had smiled for the first time when speaking with Harry during my first appointment for inserting the fertilized egg a month ago.

He had suddenly shown up unannounced having returned from his trip. One that took him away right after the day of Alpha Rowan's incident.

I sighed tiredly. How did my mind get there again?

The Royal Physician had been eyeing me suspiciously, probably because of that day, but I just smiled at him and pretended not to notice his eyes on me.

The door swung open suddenly and I was startled back into reality as my hand fell to my side.

It was Luna Rachel.

“Lilith!” she exclaimed, rushing to hug me.

I froze.

Since the rejection, she had barely spoken to me. Most of our communication passed through Talia or the maids. Even at dinner, Alpha Rowan led most of the conversation to break the silence and tension we seemed to have built.

The door opened wider. Doctor Harry entered with Alpha Rowan right behind him, catching Luna Rachel clinging to me. She released me slowly, awkwardly. Alpha Rowan just stared in surprise.

“Congratulations, Alpha,” Harry announced. “The implant worked. The fetus has passed the delicate stage and is thriving.”

“That’s good news,” Rowan said, a faint smile breaking his usual composure.

“But,” Harry added, “we must stay cautious. Anything can still happen.”

“Nothing will,” Luna Rachel interjected firmly. “Doc, just tell us how to protect this baby.”

Harry chuckled. “Very well. Lilith needs to eat healthy, and plenty.”

“That’s why I’m here. Tell me everything,” Rachel said, sliding into my chair.

My eyes flicked to Rowan. As always, he was watching me—silent, calculating, like a hawk over prey. He spoke little these past two months, relying more on Beta Cole, who clearly acted as his eyes on us.

I tore my gaze away and looked back at Rachel and Harry.

“Luna, I’ll ask Talia to take notes. You don’t need to—”

“What do you mean?” she interrupted, surprised. “Lilith, I know we haven’t talked since that incident, but that’s over now. This baby is our priority.”

I nodded slowly, swallowing my unease. I had grown used to her distance; now, suddenly, she was back.

Harry continued, “Avoid nuts, peas, and high-calorie foods.”

Rachel nodded eagerly. “Thank you, Doctor. I can come back anytime?”

“Of course, Luna.”

She rose, glowing with excitement, then hugged Rowan. “I told you this would work,” she whispered, too loudly for us to miss. She waved Harry’s notes with a grin. “I’ll head to the kitchen. And babe, give her guards—we can’t risk anything.”

Rowan’s eyes lingered on me before he nodded. “I will.”

I hid my surprise with a smile. If this surrogate role earned me guards and a maid, maybe it wasn’t all bad.

Rachel swept out, leaving silence behind.

“Alpha Rowan,” Harry said, “you should keep a close eye on Lilith now. Your mood depends on her wellbeing. Both you and the Luna must protect this cub.”

“We’ll do our best,” Rowan said softly.

A knock came, and the door opened before anyone answered. A man entered—unfamiliar, dangerous-looking.

“Boss,” he addressed Rowan, ignoring the rest of us.

The air shifted. Rowan’s expression hardened instantly.

“Why are you here?” His voice was cold, stripped of the warmth he’d shown seconds earlier.

“They attacked again. Stronger this time. We can’t hold the boundary any longer. I had no choice but—”

Before he finished, several men stormed the doorway.

“Take the doctor and my mate to safety!” Rowan barked. “Send men to protect the Luna in the kitchen. Secure the cubs and she-wolves.”

As chaos erupted, soldiers ushered us out.

“Alpha Rowan, what’s happening?” Harry tried to ask, but there was no answer in the noise.

Through the commotion, one word echoed in my mind: mate.

After two months of silence, Rowan had acknowledged me as his. Something inside me stirred back to life.

And I smiled.

Lilith’s POVI waited quietly for Alpha Rowan to come in since I couldn’t see the door from where I lay. When he stepped in, I felt him. This was different, it wasn’t just knowing, it was a pull, like he was part of me.Was this the bond people spoke of between mates? Was this how he felt whenever I was near?I wanted to cry. This was the closest I had ever come to feeling like a complete wolf.Moments later, Talia shifted slowly, and his face appeared beside me. He took my hands in his, and the contact stirred fire within me.What was this?"Hey," he whispered softly, crouching low so his eyes met mine. "Are you okay?"I nodded, tears sliding down my face. The feeling was whole, complete, like I’d found someone who could carry my pain with me."Don’t cry, please. My heart hurts when you do," Rowan whispered, wiping away my tears.I sniffed, forcing a smile. "I’m not crying. I’m happy."He kissed the back of my hand, and my body only grew hotter. I wanted him to hold me, to touch me—a

Alpha Rowan's POV"You’re disturbing Miss Lilith, who has just given birth and clearly doesn’t need this noise. I’d appreciate you leaving," Doctor Harry said, shocking even me.I froze for a moment, confusion stirring, but fought to keep it hidden as I glared at them. The only reason I’d allowed them to speak was because Lilith wasn’t here. Without her wolf, she couldn’t hear from this distance. I had deliberately taken them away from Harry’s workspace."Your time here is up. Show them the way out of this pack, and never let their feet cross it again," I ordered my guards."Yes, Alpha."I hadn’t welcomed them with open arms. I knew firsthand what they’d done to Lilith—I’d witnessed it. For a second, I thought they had changed, maybe come to ask forgiveness, which was why I let them in. Now, I regretted it.At least now I knew better. It would guide my decision-making.Mark—or whatever his name was—I remembered him vividly. That day, he dragged her out with hate in his eyes, like she

Lilith’s POV"I'm Felisha Thronegrave, Lilith's mother. How is she doing?" I overheard a voice from the corridor, and nausea washed over me.What the hell was she doing here?"No, I'm not alone. I came with one of my sons, Mark Thronegrave.""Hello, I'm Mark. We are here to see Alpha Rowan and my sister, Lilith. We heard she is here."I could imagine his smile, and my body froze. Every sense in me heightened. That voice—it hadn’t changed. My hands trembled as I tried to reach for something, anything to defend myself. But I couldn’t even lift them.A few minutes ago, I was staring at the white lines on the ceiling, hollow, like my only joy had been ripped away. And I wasn’t wrong—the only thing that made me valuable in this pack was gone. As I wondered what they now thought of me, my nightmares appeared. The door creaked open, and my breath hitched. Air refused to enter my lungs. They had come to mock me. They should’ve come yesterday—or two days ago—when everything was going well and

Alpha Rowan's POV"We've lost the baby," Doctor Harry announced, and from my side view, I noticed my Luna’s already tense face turn pale as she stared at him."And Lilith? How is she?" I asked without looking at Rachel."Lilith is fine, Alpha. She’s finding it hard to get over the loss, but physically, she’s okay." I sighed deeply and rubbed my temples."I told you not to get your hopes up. It’s quite usual to lose the first one. I was actually surprised it lasted this long," the doctor added, clearly trying to console us."I don’t get it. What exactly happened? You don’t just wake up one morning and have a miscarriage," I pressed.I couldn’t understand it. One minute she was fine and doing well—I made sure of that—and the next she was losing the baby."Oh, well, that possibility isn’t completely ruled out. But that’s where your Luna comes in." His eyes fixed on Rachel, and I saw her twist uncomfortably in her seat."What happened, babe?" I asked softly, turning to look at her."It wa

Lilith’s POVFive months later…“Talia, run a bath for me. I think I’m ready to shower now,” I said, resting on the bed with my heavy stomach and a novel in hand.“I’m on it, Princess,” she replied, rushing with buckets of hot water.I tried to push myself up.“Princess, please wait—I’ll help you when I’m done!” she cried, nearly panicked.“I’m fine, Talia. I can stand on my own.” I chuckled. Why were they treating me like I was sick?“Please, let me do my job. Luna Rachel told me not to let you stand alone.”“I’m pregnant, not sick.” I laughed, sitting upright. It was my fifth month with Alpha Rowan’s first child, and the pack’s expectations were sky-high.For the first time in my life, I felt important. Luna Rachel pampered me endlessly since the pregnancy was confirmed. I did almost nothing, cautious only of getting fat from all the food.Alpha Rowan was excited, though distant. I once overheard him scolding Beta Cole for running his mouth, warning him it could land him in prison.
