The room slipped into a tense silence once that sentence left my lips, Alban and my eyes locked onto each other with his searching mine to see if there was any hint of hesitation in my eyes. But as I lay on the floor, I knew I wanted it to happen not to only take the pain I was experiencing in this moment away, but I was ready to reclaim my life again. After learning of what Max had done to me, it was as though my entire life had been brought to some kind of standstill, all I thought I knew about myself and the confidence that I believed I held was taken from me. But if I did this one thing that Max couldn’t fully do, have my mate fully claim me in this moment, I would put an end to what he did, Alban and his presence would rid any scrap of Max from me, he’d hold not a single ounce of power over me. “You must be sure Iris, if we begin and you have second thoughts, in this state with my wolf, I do not believe I’d be able do stop myself until it is complete.” Alban warned me with
The brightest light of the sun streaming through the curtains and hitting my eyes stirs me from my sleep, opening up my eyes having to squint a little in hopes of adjusting to the light I sat there for a moment attempting to come to with world again. After a moment, I take a look down and find an arm wrapped around my body, confused a little I follow the arm and couldn’t help the smile forming on my face once I spotted our interlocked fingers, memories of yesterday soon played out in my mind where I couldn’t help but blush and smile at the memory. There were many times before that point I wondered if I’d ever be ready, but now as I lay safely in my mates arms the morning after, I felt as though I was safe and belonged. Turning around a little to see if he was awake, I discover his eyes were still closed and his breath slow allowing me to realise he was still asleep, leaning up and placing a kiss on his nose before beginning to attempt to free myself from his grasp and climb out of b
Once I had pulled Alban away from my body long enough to get changed and leave the house, we both went to see the hounds who were more than excited to see me. I hated going even an afternoon without seeing them, while I was looking after them at The Full Moon Pack, they did become like my children in a sense, so I do find myself getting protective and worried about them when I have to be away. They also were able to sense that Alban and I were now fully mated, not only because they would have felt the shift in the air the same moment all the pack members did but they can now smell my full scent change. Alban and I now smell even more like each other than before, our scents have fully mixed with one another allowing anyone to smell that we were both mated to someone. After sorting the hounds and ensuring they had enough food and water for the day, Alban and I walk hand in hand through the woods back towards the pack house. A smile sat on both of our faces as we spoke about my Luna
The air grew tense in that moment, Alban looked as though he wanted to pounce at Malcom in that moment while Malcom, attempted to hide the fear in his eyes but it was clear by the way his body shook a little. Where I was left in the middle looking between each man hoping the event back in the woods wouldn’t continue in this moment. “Of course, not sir, Iris and I were simply catching up since it’s been some time.” Malcolm said with a look of nervousness on his face as he spoke but for Alban, he seemed deeply annoyed. “You will address my mate as Luna, she is no longer a regular pack member you can take deep into woods at night to engage in outlandish parties. I believe you are scheduled to begin your patrols are you not, I was under the impression that you had changed your ways when you began your training, was I wrong in my assumption?” Alban asked not too pleased that Malcolm had addressed me by my name without the title of Luna, only family and close friends of mine are to addr
Once breakfast had concluded which was much less embarrassing than I was expecting, I thought they’d all have questions or would look at us with wiggling eyebrows knowing what we did. But it was the opposite, everyone was more interested in the arrangements for my Luna ceremony, Polly insisting that I allow her and my mother to sort the décor and finishes. I was quick to allow them as I had so much more going around my brain that the Luna ceremony was certainly not a priority. My father and Albans soon dismissed themselves to go golfing, Lincoln had to rush off to another pack for some important meeting whilst my mother and Polly began to arrange the plans for the ceremony. “Would you like to join us hunny?” My mother asked turning to look at me with a smile, whilst I simply pushed my chair under the table shaking my head. “I would love to but I’m meeting an old friend of mine to catch up.” I smiled having to mentally remember what route I had to take to arrive at the old drawin
As soon as I showed Malcom that I had known all along what he wanted from me, I witnessed his differing emotions switch up right in front of me. At first, he was full of nothing but shock, to him, he and his group of friends had been keeping this secret under lock a key, not a single person they didn’t want to find out could. But now me, someone who had only returned to the pack a few weeks ago was able to catch wind, it didn’t make sense. The next emotion to display was his confusion, how could I have found it all out and if I knew about it, could other people such as Alban know? With that question it was deep fear which looked back at me. “How… how do you know?” He asked pointing towards me a little while I sighed, I didn’t know if I wanted to disclose the training I’d received, what if he asked me to help with what they wanted with a more hands-on roll?! “I hate when Alban says this to me, but I think it’s a useful saying here, I know most things that happen around this place
Once I had finished my talk with Malcom, I walked around the pack lost in my own head, I didn’t have a clue what to do than ever before. I had thought going into that meeting that I’d be able to somehow persuade Malcom to put a stop to whatever plan he was creating, but now he blatantly said even if he backed out, the entire plan would still go ahead, and Polly would be dead, I lost any leverage I had. Using my new key that Alban gave me to his house, I unlock the door and walk in, the lobby looking empty and the entire house quiet. “Alban, are you home!” I call out into the emptiness, my voice bouncing off the golden walls and hitting my ears, but as like I expected, I was met with deafening silence. Sighing a little, I throw my keys into the dish Alban keeps by the door and walk into the kitchen to grab some water. My hands shaking as I brought the glass to my lips and sipped, there was so many ways this plan could go horribly wrong, and each would fall back on me for not sayi
Alban could only look at me for a moment as he attempted to absorb what I had said and make sense of it himself before a deep growl rippled through his chest. “That asshole, who attempted to take you away from me, when you are mine by birthright is now attempting to kill my mother, I’m going to tear him apart!” Alban snarls ferociously looking off behind me at the mirror before attempting to walk away where I will have to assume was to find Malcom and kill him, where I was forced to reach forward and grab his arm nearly falling from the counter. “No Alban please you can’t! As I said it isn’t just Malcom we’re dealing with here!” I shout in a panic pulling him back, he could have easily pushed me away and walked off to get the job done but witnessing me nearly falling from the counter stops him as he pushes me back safely. “Malcolm and his gang of fuckwitts and wannabes will be no match for me and my deadly Alpha ways, do they believe they have the power to attempt to kill my mot
The journey to The Full Moon Pack ran such ahead of schedule, I was a little shocked when the border and the two guards who I knew very well came into view. Taking a deep breath in to calm my nerves and fully immerse myself in the headspace I needed to be in, I stare ahead at the border with my mind on the objective, find and deal with Max. The guards seemed a little shocked as we draw closer to the border as though we would storm right through but just as we were about to enter, we all came to an abrupt halt standing right at the border. “State your purpose!” One of the men Issac shouted drawing his sword from his belt, his eyes staring at the men before they land on me sat on the hound. “Iris?” He asked in a state of shock that he was actually seeing me, where I was sure to send him a little smile, even though I was planning to attack, his cooperation will be more than vital. “Hello Issac, I believe you are more than aware of why I am here with my Alpha and men. The reign of
The next week seemed to be one of the fastest weeks in all my life, the next day Alban and I announced our engagement to my family who were overjoyed and then to the pack, who also seemed to share the same sentiment. Another huge party was thrown to celebrate us that night, even though everyone seemed happy, I would catch the slight glances of fear when a guard would watch past the perimeter. Due to the way the last party ended of my Luna ceremony, Alban didn’t want to take any chances especially, with what we were doing to Max as the days progressed, he updated the guards patrols, luckily the party went on without a hitch and everyone was able to have a well deserved, uninterrupted celebration. The day after didn’t give us any time to rest, Alban, Lincoln and I spend the entire day in his office going over the plans of the new invasion against Max, the men we believed would be perfect for the task, the position of the hounds and what the plan was after we took control. By the end
Once I was carried home on Alban’s shoulders, instead of putting me on the ground, I was placed to sit on top of the kitchen counter whilst he dealt with the little burn like wounds on my palm. To me they weren’t that bad, I had received many of these the first few times Russell and I were tasked with checking Max’s water, yes, they can sting but after a few days, they heal completely. But Alban wasn’t having any of it and insisted he put some ointment on them with a bandage just as a precaution. So, I sat silently watching as my Alpha mate delicately wrapped a little white bandage around my palm, this giving my mind time to wonder. Of course it drifted to what we had all just done, the fact that it was me who tipped that liquid in to start the process, even though I knew it was the right thing to do and Max deserved it, I kept asking myself what past me would have thought. That morning that I stood outside of my car loading all of my boxes in to head home, I didn’t know what scar
The race between Alban and I still held firm as we entered our pack’s territory, many times throughout that race, we were neck and neck as neither of us wanted to back down. The clearing we had declared would be the finishing line soon came into view, seeing the end in sight, it only pushed me to go even faster where I began to draw ahead of Alban, a fact I know he didn’t like. Just before I could reach the clearing, a playful bite is sent to my back leg causing me to trip a little, this giving Alban the upper hand who raced ahead and entered the clearing winning the race. A growl left my lips as I arrived beside him, where a happy howl left his own, but I was beyond annoyed. Walking behind a tree and shifting, I put my clothes on before walking back out where he too had shifted and stood there about to place his shirt on. “You’re a fucking cheat!” I shout striding closer to him with an anger filled look, whilst he only shrugged his shoulders throwing his shirt over one shoulder
With the tube still sitting in my hand with the liquid that would start this entire process, I felt as though I had so many things swirling around my head. It was my idea to do this and it’s something I knew needed to happen, but it was as though my body was frozen. What Max did to me more times than I know of was beyond awful, he took advantage when I could not only not fight him off but didn’t even know it was happening. He threw any care he felt towards me out of the window to get what he wanted; he deserved this. But that nagging voice inside of me asked if this was the correct way, maybe I should allow the W.M.O to take charge and deal with Max, but could I stand in that courtroom and give my testimony and hear him try to defend his actions? “He took away from us something which was only mates to take, allow mate to take his life as a consequence.” My wolf tells me in my mind after hearing the battle I was having, but her words seeming to spur me on. Holding my head up, I t
After going over the second half of my marvellous plan, all men agreed my approach would not only be the most successful but also, swift enough so the W.M.O will never be able to catch wind of it beforehand. Alban allowed Russell to use one of the packs labs where he was able to brew The Deadly Sleeping Drought in under an hour, the clear liquid soon placed in a thin glass test tube and in a protective bag so it wouldn’t spill. We all agreed that the quickest and stealthiest way for us to travel to The Full Moon Pack would be in wolf form, so around two hours after I had disclosed my amazing plan, we were all stood at the edge of the border with bags in our hands holding the spare clothes for us to wear so we wouldn’t have to walk around in the nude. “I’ve just realised, you haven’t seen me in wolf form yet, I had shifted while I was away and due to that stupid order, which should really be lifted by now, I haven’t been able to.” I smiled over to Alban as he dug through his bag
Walking into Alban’s office, he sat behind his desk with his leg bouncing in anger and impatience as he waited for me to return. Lincoln sat to the side of him seeming to read a bunch of maps that I had asked from him whilst Russell, sat off to the side seeming to jot down some information. “How did it go?” Alban asked as I closed the door behind me, all eyes seeming to move away from whatever the rest were doing as I stood in the middle of the room. “I sorted it, everything is being moved to a specific location where as soon as you’re ready, you can go see it all. No one held any malice towards what they were doing, yes, some people didn’t like Polly, and most were scared but she was still once this packs Luna. Your father and her did great things for this pack; people are grieving that side of things. People grieve in different ways, and none are the wrong way.” I smiled walking deeper into the room hoping to calm his anger down, he wasn’t doing this out of spite or true anger,
Once Alban had finished his coffee, which he drunk and stated was one of the tastiest coffee’s he believed he’d ever tried, we walk hand in hand out of the house and towards the main section of pack. With all that happened only yesterday, I watched Alban even closer as we walked towards the exit of our private residence, it’s okay here as only Lincoln has permission to enter, but as soon as we walk through those gates, all eyes will be on us. I knew the news surrounding his parents and the hunters had made their rounds, I had received many mind-links from the higher ups in the packs asking me to send their condolences to Alban, I don’t think any wanted to tell him directly. Holding his head up high and placing that same Alpha look even though I knew was his invisible mask, we exit our private sanctuary where many sympathetic stares were sent our way by many people. Sending them tiny smiles as a thank you, I continued walking beside Alban until the pack house came into view and sat
Once Alban allowed himself to cry for so many heartbreaking minutes, I headed downstairs to brew him a coffee, hoping I would be able to work out his professional set up and not have boiling coffee fly at my face. In the mists of me studying all of the many dials and hoping one was going to burst into some kind of song indicating it was the one I had to use, someone walking into the kitchen causes me to jump. “I didn’t mean to startle you, I just came to see if I could grab a glass of water before meeting your brother.” Russell who I’d forgotten was here said by the door, where I simply sent him a smile before staring back at the coffee machine. “It’s okay, I was just making Alban a coffee, if I’m able to work out this scientific machine that is.” I reply with a frustrated sigh, I wanted to try and lift Alban’s spirits but if I mess up, I may make him choke. “Allow me to help, back at The Full Moon Pack before training each day, the kitchen staff would allow me in to make a co
