Alban sat at his desk in the pack house waiting for Alpha Maxwell to arrive, his hands placed together on the desk whilst his eyes trained to the door. Since learning what this Alpha had attempted to do with his mate, he had been waiting for this moment, he had envisioned all that he was going to say to the grotesque man who wanted to rob Alban of the person who was his by right. What he also couldn’t get out of his mind was Iris and the cries he had heard from her when he left, he was of course an Alpha who never show their feelings and are evil and tough by nature, but she was still his mate. It was his job to protect her and make sure she was happy, but due to his urges and nature, he hurt her in ways he never intended to. He was so overcome with lust and the anger that this Alpha had brought for him, he allowed his emotions to get the better of him. This meant the hatred he feels towards this man whom he had never even met, only grew higher. Before those thoughts could marinat
Once I slowly ate my toast, Lincoln showed me around his most beautiful house, I have to say it was much more modern than Albans. Lincoln’s house’s colour scheme was black and white, all of his cupboards looked to be very slick and clean, even his staircase descended into a spiral shape. As for Albans house, his seemed a lot more dated in style, golds and whites littered his home and reminded me of a royal type of getaway. Both were absolutely beautiful homes I thought only famous people lived in! When Lincoln heard that I hadn’t been anywhere apart from in our parent's house or Albans, he declared that I would need to be given an updated tour of the pack, and I was out his front door in a matter of seconds. I had to admit that getting to spend this one-on-one time with Lincoln was definitely, what I needed. Since arriving back home, it seems as though all I’ve done is sit around and watch as others got on with their lives or sit in a hospital bed injured. But now to have the chan
The tension which clung to the air was so thick, it was as though there was some looming cloud of darkness over our heads threatening to burst with each second that passed. The intense gaze from each man I stood in front of made me start to sweat, each with their differing opinions as to what they expected me to say and one of those men in particular, waiting to see if it was acceptable for him to pounce if I spoke the wrong word. As my mind raced with the many thoughts surrounding the two packs, one odd realisation came to mind, one I would have never even imagined myself feeling. When I thought of agreeing to leave with Max and waving goodbye to this place and people, I couldn’t help the deep-rooted sadness which spread throughout my body. It was as though some part of me was forever connected to this place and one if I left, would weigh down my heart each day and prevent me from living. I didn’t know if it was due to the recent conversation that Lincoln and I shared before we l
After watching Max drive away, Lincoln excused himself stating he was putting my box away, but I knew what happened, Alban had ordered him to leave me and him alone to speak, the look Lincoln gave me was anything but I’m just popping out and truly, be careful. With his arm still wrapped around my shoulders, Alban leads me up the stairs of the pack house and towards his office, the last time I was in here, Alban and I were having a very intimate moment. Opening up the door, the sofa is what I spot first which allowed heat to rise to my cheeks and fear to ignite in my chest. “Please take a seat.” Alban instructed me as the door was closed behind us and his arm, finally removed from my shoulders where I could only stand in my place as though I was a statue watching him walk around his desk. “I’d rather stand, the last time I sat down and allowed my guard down with it, something which shouldn’t have happened, happened.” I say placing my hands behind my back whilst forcing my eyes to
Lincoln managed to show me around most of the pack grounds before he was called away to the border, some kind of rouge had appeared and due to Alban getting held back in some other meeting, it was up to the Beta to handle it all. This left me to stroll into Lincoln’s house alone, the emptiness of his home mixed with the darkness, I couldn’t help but sigh. Back at The Full Moon Pack, I never felt lonely or bored because I’d always have something to do, there were many times I’d be on my feet getting work done late into the early hours and would be up two hours later to begin my work for the day. I didn’t have much time to allow my thoughts to wonder, which is why I believe after the first few weeks of being away I lost the feeling of home sickness, I didn’t have time to think or feel anything which weren’t the tasks I was given. But now I’ve returned home, it’s as though all I have is time for my mind to wonder, time to question everything that’s happened to me and what will happen
“What kind of urgent plea?” I asked with a hint of worry in my voice, yes, I was concerned as to what my wolf may know that I may not, but I lived at The Full Moon Pack for five years and built such a strong connection with many people there, I didn’t want any of them getting hurt. “The Alpha Maxwell sent a distress call in; such a call is only utilised in dire situations. In most cases, they request immediate back up from an army, but he has only identified needing you.” The former Alpha informs me from the side, where my mind still littered with the unknowns, what’s happening that only I can help with? “Did he give you any other information?” I asked now turning back to look at Alban, who sat back in his chair watching my face intently, as though he was attempting to catch if my emotions changed as the conversation progressed. “He mentioned their group of hounds, we believe they may have escaped their pens and are now attacking pack members but that is simply speculation.” The
Alban bounded through the pack with me still sitting on his back, the closer we got to the main section, the louder the screams became and the more my heart sunk. The guard hadn’t given me much information, but to hear the hounds only escaped because they were looking for me, I couldn’t help the guilt that I felt for leaving them. “Stop here, if you shift and hide within the tree-line behind me, I’ll call them over.” I instructed Alban as I recognised the thinning of the trees meant we were close to entering through the town, the screams and shouts but now, the unmissable sounds of biting and growling told me I was in the correct place. Alban does as I ask him and stops, allowing me to lift my leg over and slid down his wolf’s side until my feet landed on the floor. Standing alone for a moment, I couldn’t stop my entire body shaking from worry and anticipation, what if these hounds are angry that I’d left and won’t listen to me or worse, because I’ve been away and at a different p
The only sound around was the growling of the hounds with their eyes placed on one person, Max, who also didn’t look the happiest in this moment. These hounds didn’t like Max in the slightest, I didn’t know why, but even when he would come with me to feed them every now and then, they wouldn’t allow him in the pen and would go for him any chance they got. So now I had ordered them to stand in the position as though they were about to fight, it was an easy task for them to fulfil. “I’m not doing this to get one up on you Max, even though I don’t live here anymore doesn’t mean I suddenly hate you, you’re still as much of my best friend as you were when I left. But you know what keeping these here without me is going to do, I mean the countless dead bodies which are laying on the asphalt not meters away from us is evidence alone. Please Max, I want to make sure they’re kept safe but all the people I’ve come to love in your pack safe also. I’m not your enemy Max.” I say looking Max righ
My breath came out sharp and fast as I squeezed so hard onto that tree branch, my legs crossing over one another praying that the branch would hold my weight a little longer. But it wasn’t just me who could be out in the open, Russell lay on the floor right at the base of the tree with the snapped rope behind him, Samual continuing to take steps closer to the tree and him. It wouldn’t take him much to spot Russell sat in a heap by the tree with the rope and connect the dots and spot me dangling on a branch, we of course had the training to stop him but with that blade and the amount of harmful substances around him, we couldn’t risk so much going wrong. That’s also something we were taught in training, of course you do not show any fear when going into battle and trust your instincts and training, but don’t simply walk into each situation looking for a fight. If you are to just face each battle the same way, that would be deadly. No two individuals are the same which would also me
Following behind Russell who held the map in his hands, we continue deep into the dark but also, eerily silent wood. I didn’t know if it was because I knew who was hiding within the thick trees with his dangerous plot or the time of night butI felt myself draw closer to Alban a little more, worried for not only Polly’s life but also, ours too. Alban realised this and didn’t seem to mind wrapping his arm around me, even though Russell was slowly proving himself as trustful with the help, with what he had done not hours before, it was clear he would much rather Russell had remained in that dungeon and him think of the most awful of punishments he could bestow upon him. “Alright, they’re around a mile ahead.” Russell informed us all but this time, kept his voice down in case Samual was close by waiting for Alban to send some men to stop it. “What’s the plan?” Lincoln asked also keeping his voice down but ensuring his eyes snapped from side to side surrounding us, we didn’t need a s
Once everything that I’d asked for was lay before me on the table and I was now out of my beautiful but dirty dress from the party and into some fresh clothes, I watch as Russell began to brew the first concoction which was going to help us locate Polly. Richard, who hadn’t woken up since his fight with a table was taken by my parents to the hospital to make sure he didn’t have any injures whilst Lincoln and Alban both waited behind me, both still dressed in their suits from the party which now after everything, seems like days ago. I could feel and see that Alban wasn’t the happiest of Alpha’s in this moment, the guy he had seen fighting me was now stood right beside him working away as though nothing was amiss. “Alright the hyper focus antidote which you are to drink is almost done brewing, now with the information of what you were able to see in that bag is pointing towards a poison called The Death Watcher, it’s given that name as it’s deadly, anyone who drinks that will die i
Russell soon holds my eye contact seeming to know instinctively, what was going around my head in that moment. Russell and I spent everyday with each other at The Full Moon Pack, learning from Bennett what he wanted from us and the tasks that we were given. I was not the only person from another pack which Bennett was training, when I first arrived at The Full Moon Pack, there were around twenty others who had been sent away by their Alpha’s in hopes of receiving life changing training. But one by one, each begin to leave and head home, the training was not for the faint of heart and after begging their Alpha’s, they were given the green light to leave. Something at the time I wished Richard would have allowed but he never did, by the end of that first year, it was only Russell, and I left in the program. This meant we were forced to lean on each other whenever the training became too demanding, I would try and speak to Max, but he’d never understand where I was coming from as his
Now I knew Russell was on his way and he may understand what I was trying to say more than anyone, I lay in my state a lot calmer than before. My parents had moved over to Richard to check his injures, he hadn’t moved since he fell through the table, and I think they worried he was dead. Lincoln did what he always does when he’s nervous, he paced up and down the room with his hands on his hips waiting impatiently, for the guards to bring Russell. Whilst Alban remained with me on the floor, my head still in his lap as his hand ran through my hair, I knew he wanted to keep a brave face as he was the Alpha and he’d chosen for all this to happen, but I could see in his eyes how upset he was about to become if we couldn’t stop Samual in time. Breaking the worried silence which seemed to cling to each wall, the doors open once again but this time instead of me getting held by people, it was Russel who was dragged in, chains around his hands and feet as two guards held onto him. “The p
The room grew silent as all eyes sat on Alban, whatever was to happen next, it was truly down to what he decided. My head continued to fall a little with my eyes opening, instantly locking with my mates. Who looked over at his brother with such a deep rooted anger and hatred that it spurred from his body like a foul odour, it was clear if he saw the chance, it would be Samual who would be dead on the floor. “Hunny, you don’t have to make the decision.” Polly said from across the room, her voice shaking with uncontrollable fear, no one was to know what Samual would do to her if he had the chance. “You’re such a selfish bitch! You’d try and make him push his mate to the side for you! You care about no one but yourself!” Samual screams over to Polly with such anger, the sheer volume hurting my ears and allowing a painful moan to leave my lips. “We can talk this out, I’m sure we could resolve whatever issue this is about.” My mother spoke again trying to dissolve the issue not knowi
Once he had fully injected me with the liquid, it was as though I had lost most of the control of my body, the chains around me were the only thing holding me up as my head fell around. Samual was right, I was aware of each and everything that was happening around me, but it was as though I had sat on a fairground ride for hours spinning me round and around. My entire view was distorted as my eyes closed and fluttered opened every few seconds, while Samual began to move around the lobby rounding his things up to get ready. “Alright that’s everything set, let’s get you out.” He said throwing the black bag with all his terrifying tools over his shoulder and walking towards me, the chains soon becoming looser where I couldn’t help my body falling forward. Thankfully, before I could hit the marble floor for a second time tonight, arms wrap around my body allowing me to dangle in the air for a moment. I couldn’t help the fear which pulsed through my veins, it wasn’t as though my mind
Intense ringing in my ears begins to pull me out of my unconscious state, my body felt as though it was slummed forward but held back by something wrapped around my body. Opening up my eyes slowly, throbbing from the side of my head brought me out even quicker, the vision of the marble flooring from Alban’s lobby filled my vision first before my body, chained to one of his dinning chairs registers in my head. Panicking a little, I sit up and begin to attempt to fight against the chains to free my hands, but whoever had chained them around me, knew what they were doing and prevented me from getting very far. “I would advise you against pulling at the chains, I located the best pair money could buy so your attempts will only lead do an injury.” A familiar voice tells me from somewhere around the room, lifting my head up higher I spot Samual, sitting on the bottom step of the marble staircase watching me as I sat on the chair. “I know my statements may sound contradictory, but I
After the little blood bath that had unfolded in the middle of the party, I believe everyone knew it was time to head back and reciprocate from what we’d all just seen. Getting home and washing all the blood from me sounded perfect, but due to the players involved and everyone having so many questions, I was led into the pack house instead, Alban’s suit jacket over my body to offer me some comfort. Sitting in his office on his lap, everyone seemed to begin to talk over each other, my parents were amazed at what I could do but also, worried for my safety due to Max. Albans parents began to ask so many questions and if an attack on The Full Moon Pack would be wise whilst Lincoln, mind-linked back and forth with the border guards in order to ensure not a thing such as this could happen again. All I could do in that moment was sit silently, watching the world go by as my mind raced with so many conflicting thoughts. Flashes of the battle I’d just fought in filled my head, the way he k
