•Olivia's POV•
On a Saturday morning, I woke up in my room and decided to inform my foster mother about my desire to further my education at the pack's university. As a 17-year-old girl, I have seen many of our pack members and their wolves fall sick, igniting a desire in me to study medicine to help them. As I got out of my bed in my room on the second wing of the mansion, I breathed out heavily, knowing that I had to try my luck with my foster mother. She can be cruel to me sometimes as she pampered her own daughter, Emily. But I had to try. It was my only hope and chance of gaining admission into the pack's university, which was expensive. My adopted mother, Nancy George, worked as a nurse in the pack's hospital, and her husband, Wren, was a lawyer, even though they were delta wolves. They were rich from their work and the way they took care of their two children, Mark and Emily, whom they spoiled. Mark, a 24-year-old, was hardly at home, but strangely, he had returned home as he was a basketball star player and had his own money. However, he was spoiled and had several girlfriends, whom he often brought home. His mother would never reprimand him for it, but she would encourage him not to take any of those girls seriously and that he should wait for his fated mate. I couldn't blame Mark, though, as he was rich, together with his parents' wealth. The young ladies in our pack, the Starfield pack, loved him. Wearing a white dress, I made my way to the living room, seeing it was already past 8 a.m. The day was bright and sunny, and I needed to push my luck. I had no wolf, because of my history of being born on a moonless night, so I was like a normal human and not fully a werewolf like them. As I approached the living room, walking down the corridor, I heard Emily's excited voice, "Mom, I still cannot believe it, that Daniel Ryan, the Beta's son, is asking me to be his girlfriend." My heart clenched when I heard Emily say that. Daniel had previously asked me to be his girlfriend, but I told him no. Well, he didn't give me a chance to explain myself as he spat in my face and pushed me on the ground in front my schoolmates, saying, "Who would want to date a wolfless girl like you? I was only doing you a favor." I was so embarrassed, and Emily came rushing over to meet Daniel. She held his hand and told him, "Daniel, you can be my boyfriend, and don't waste your time on this bìtch." My heart ached, but I pushed the hurt aside. They were good for each other, I thought, but Daniel peered at me angrily as he was the Beta's son, and my rejection made him feel bad. But I tried to avoid him. After all, he wasn't a student of my set. He had only come to the school for his younger sister's graduation certificate. Shutting my eyes at the painful memories, I clenched my fist and moved into the living room. The air thickened at the sight of me, and the family at the dining table stopped eating as they sensed my presence. "Good morning," I greeted them with a forced smile. "Morning, what do you want here?" Nancy asked, as she picked up a glass of water and drank. She sat beside her husband, while her son and daughter sat across from her. Seeing their eyes on me, I spluttered but decided to go straight to the point. "Um, aunt, I want to further my education at the pack university." "Hahaha!" Nancy laughed as she peered at me. She wore a blue nightdress and was fair and beautiful for her age. "Why should you further your education? You're wolfless, and you don't have to think of going to the pack university. You should serve as our maid, as a repayment for all the money we spend on feeding you up to this size. Isn't that right, honey?" She shifted her gaze to her husband, who nodded. "Yes. My mate is right," Mr. George declared. "Olivia, you are to quit your ambition of going to the pack university and serve as a cleaner here." "No! It's been my dream to create a medicine to help our pack members become better. Please," I knelt before my foster parents, as I was grateful they adopted me and fed me. But I had to further my education. Emily rose from her dining chair, wearing a white nightdress, and she rushed up to meet me. "You bìtch! Didn't you hear Mom say that you are not going to the pack university? You're to become a servant here in our home and clean the house. Got that!" She smacked me across my left cheek and sent me falling to the ground. "That's enough, Emily!" Mark yelled, his icy voice made his sister jump as she turned to look at him. "Mark, are you taking this bìtch's side over me, your sister? Mom, Dad, Mark is favoring Olivia!" Emily cried and pointed at me. The atmosphere in the dining room became tense as my foster parents looked at Mark suspiciously. "What has come over you, Mark? How can you defend that worthless girl? We only adopted Olivia to give Emily a younger sister, and since Emily didn't want Olivia anymore, you are not to favor Olivia or see her as your sister. Now, apologize to Emily!" Mr. George declared. Mark peered at his parents' faces. His jaw clenched as he rose to his feet, "Mom, Dad, you both are being unjust. I cannot sit here and watch you bully Olivia just because she doesn't have a wolf. If you guys don't want her presence anymore, take her back to the orphanage home. I'm out of here." Mark walked away from the dining room, not sparing a glance at me, and my jaw dropped at his blunt words to his parents. "Mark! Mark! Come back here!" His parents tried calling him, but he had already left the house. The sound of his car starting in the garage filling the air as he drove off. "You slut! What did you use to possess my only son?!" Nancy yelled as she rushed towards me and descended on me in the living room. Her fists connected with my cheeks as she smacked me continuously until I fainted.(Summer's POV)My heart fluttered as Mark carried me in his warm arms and took me to his room. His scent clung to me like a blanket. My heart raced and thudded against my chest as it dawned on me what he wanted. He wanted to make love to me.“Mark,” I whispered against his ear as he arrived at his bedroom door. I had missed this room after reuniting with my family. His touch and pleasure only lingered in my mind. When Mark stepped into the room, he set me down on my feet.“I have missed you so much,” he said, his voice thick with raw hunger for me.“I cannot wait to have you again, Summer. My Oli,” Mark said, and my heart fluttered at his words. When he drew next to me, his hand reached for my top and he helped me undress.I had left my bag in his living room, and I knew that my brothers or parents would be trying to reach me. But what mattered to me at the moment was trying to please my boyfriend. What started as a forbidden relationship now had my heart captive.I assisted Mark as I
(Mark's POV)I had wrapped up the last artwork piece in my study. Knowing that Summer was coming over to visit me, I swiftly rushed to arrange the house, cleaning everywhere as I had been busy. Though the woman I hired to clean showed up twice a week, I still ensured that I arranged everywhere before going to have my bath.I had missed Summer, and I could not wait to have alone time with her. When I finished my bath and got out of the bathroom, I gave Summer a call to find out how she was and if she was already on her way. I wanted to go and pick her up, too.To my surprise, Summer apologized about Emily’s text and told me she now has a driver. My eyes widened at how much the Grasyons had upgraded my girlfriend. Though I didn’t want to see Summer as my sister, I smiled and assured her that I trusted her. When the call ended, I quickly checked my chat to see what Emily had sent. It was a picture of Summer and a tall, masculine man in black pulling the car door for her like a gentleman.
(Summer's POV)When it was closing hour after the last lecture came to an end, Rita called out to me, “Summer, wait.” I paused and glanced over at Rita, watching her run up to meet me. “Did you call Christopher to find out where he is?” she asked, and I shook my head. “No, I did not call him. Since you said he went to assist his dad, I do not want to disturb him. I believe he will call when he is ready. After all, I just got to know him,” I replied calmly, my eyes watching Rita’s face. “Alright. You can go. I just wanted to ask if you called him,” Rita said, her blush evident. I didn’t understand Rita. Did she think I was lying and trying to date Christopher? Unable to hide my curiosity, I asked her, “Wait, Rita. So you do not trust me?” “No, Summer. It’s not that I do not trust you,” Rita said as she walked up to meet me. “I just wanted to know,” she replied softly. I knew Rita was lying, but I didn’t call her out for it. Even though I didn’t have a mate bond, I kne
(Summer's POV)As Rita and I walked away from Ava and Emily, I could feel my heart throbbing because I hadn’t expected Rita to stand up for me. My heart was racing loudly in my chest, knowing that Ava was an Alpha wolf and no one dared to provoke her. I could feel Ava’s disdain for me. Her eyes narrowed deeply, even as she pressed her nose to prevent herself from inhaling my scent. “Don’t worry about Ava,” Rita whispered into my ear as she led me out of the medical faculty for us to have lunch. How could I not worry about Ava? Could I trust Rita? I wanted to voice my complaint and tell Rita to return to Ava, but I held my tongue. I decided to play along to find out why Rita was now trying to be friendly to me. When we arrived at the cafeteria, my phone rang before I could step inside. Pulling out my phone, I had thought it was a call from Christopher apologizing for not showing up. But I was surprised to see it was a call from Mark. “Who is calling you?” Rita asked, her
Ava's POV:Seeing Rita take Summer's side made my blood boil as I watched them stride downstairs.Unable to hide my anger, I warned Emily to be careful of Summer."What do you think made Rita close to Summer? Is it because they are in the same class now? Just barely one day, and Rita has fallen for Summer's charm?" I muttered as I stopped one of the female students to ask her."What has gotten into Rita? Why does she care for Summer now?"The young lady in a brown dress had her eyes widen, and she said, "Oh, Rita accused Summer of trying to snatch her mate, Christopher Lawrence. So we think Rita is getting along with Summer to beg Christopher for her rejection.""What? Christopher is Rita's mate?" Emily gasped, as did I. Our eyes almost popped out of their sockets."Wait, you both do not know? I thought you were Rita's BFFs?" The lady asked, and I glared at her."Mind your language unless you want to rot in jail," I glared at her, and she lowered her head."I am sorry, Alpha. Please f
SUMMER'S POV:"Mom, Dad, Cooper. I'm off to school," I informed my parents after I had finished my breakfast at the dining table.I stood up to leave. My hand reached for my bag, which contained my books and the few I had borrowed from Christopher."Alright, Summer. Come on, let me see you off. You can use any car in the garage that you like. Next Saturday, we will present your own ride to you," Dad commented as he rose to his feet to escort me out of the house."Really? Thanks, Dad," I said as my father walked up to meet me. He placed his hand across my shoulder, then escorted me to the car.Mom and Cooper stayed indoors, and I chose to hop into the black sports car.Dad turned to Mr. Raymond and instructed him in a serious voice. "Drive safely.""Got it, Sir," Mr. Raymond replied before slipping into the driver's seat of the car."Goodbye, Dad," I waved, watching as Dad stood at the front while Mr. Raymond ignited the car and drove off to the university. My hand reached for my phone
