Chapter 33

Elio,

I stood under the cascading water, feeling the steam rise around me, as I fervently tried to wash away the acrid stench of smoke and the lingering scent of burning flesh. The faint remnants of charred particles clung to my skin, taunting me with their reminders. My demon side was contented, at least, but my wolf still wasn’t happy about not going to see Kara.

I let the powerful jets of scalding, steamy water soothe me. Nothing compared to a good hot shower for clearing the mind. I stayed there longer than I needed to. Here, there were no time demands, no stress, no need to chase anyone - just pure relaxation.

There was a niggle in the back of my mind … those silver bullets there had been causing havoc in Darkpaw Junction. I had heard people mentioning them as I headed back to my car.

Selling weapons was another speciality of mine. I had everything anyone could ever dream of. It’s why no pack dared to challenge me. There was only one thing I knew I wasn’t responsible for … tho
