Gemma and I were waiting patiently in the kitchen as I picked at the blueberries in front of me. Megan had left just moments ago with Hunter and Paxton. Hayley didn’t come back or if she did, we didn’t see her. Was she already evicted from the games? It was hard to tell what time of day it was. The artificial lights came on with a sensor or the controls from whoever was mastering them. I didn’t know if I slept for 10 hours or 10 minutes. Neither of us spoke. We just kept exchanging glances as we nibbled on the food. I didn’t have an appetite. I couldn’t run. I missed having the sun on my face, feeling fresh air, and being with my family. In truth, I was feeling a little crazy. I needed to get out of here.
