My heart was bleeding. Alpha Magnus came inside, he indeed looked like a strong, proud, handsome alpha male, just like his physique and rank suggested. Blessed with blue eyes. Chloe hooked her arms in his, and my heart cried from inside more, to see my soulmate with another female. Zia howled in pain. I never felt this kind of pain in my whole life. My eyes filled with tears, I could not breathe, yet I kept staring at him through my hazy eyes. As if feeling my scent or my presence, Alpha Magnus's eyes flickered to me, then turned white, like his wolf taking him over but he pushed him back. His fist clenched too. He was having a hard time controlling himself. "What happened?" Chloe asked him. He shifted his gaze toward Chloe. He knew I was his mate, but he didn't acknowledge me. Didn't claim me as his mate. "Mom, Dad, this is Alpha Magnus, my fiancé and soon my mate." Hearing those words, I turned on my heels and walked out of that place. I could bear anything, but seeing my fated mate with my stepsister brought me immense pain. After reaching my room, I locked my door tightly and cried my heart out. I have no one in my life. I thought maybe my mate would be the only one who was truly mine. I always held that hope in my heart, but the Moon Goddess snatched that too. Why, Goddess? Why give me someone who could never be mine? He is the forbidden Alpha. Already taken by my stepsister, and his ignorance only proved that he didn't want me, didn't care about me. I rarely cried, but today I couldn't stop myself. What did I ever do wrong? Then why am I getting all this pain? I had no idea how long I kept crying, when I heard a knock at my door. I wiped my tears and opened it. Julie stood there with an angry face. "What are you doing here? Don't you know we have a guest and you're hiding here? Who is going to work out there?" I lowered my eyes to the ground, not wanting her to see my tears, but I guess she saw them anyway. "Why are you crying?" she asked, more like mocking. "Are you jealous that Chloe got an alpha and you're still mateless?" After saying that, she laughed. I didn't say anything. I felt like I had no energy left. "Come outside and attend to our guest," she said, and walked away. I still stood there. Again my eyes filled with tears. But I had to hide my tears and my pain, just like I did every single time. But this time it was the most difficult. I could barely bear the thought of seeing my mate with my sister. I went to the hall. They were talking. Hearing my footsteps, Chloe's head turned toward me, she had a smug smile plastered across her face. "Alpha Magnus, meet her. She is our maid, Amara," she said. I felt extreme shame hearing that. Magnus's eyes collided with mine cold as ice. He just nodded. Like he didn't know I was his mate. My heart ached inside. His cold gaze shifted back to Chloe, and immediately turned soft. Zia cried. I'm just a maid to them. I guess that is why he didn't claim me as a mate, he thought I wasn't suitable for him. He is the infamous Alpha, one of the most powerful in the world. For him, Chloe is the better choice. Cunning and smart. ‘We should talk to him’, Zia said hopefully. It was hard for her too. ‘Do you really think he would want us when he has Chloe? She is a Beta female. We are just omegas, nothing special’. But I want to ask him why he didn't wait for us and took a chosen mate instead. Dad was talking to him. Magnus looked bored but was still listening. I stood there too, but after some time I went into the kitchen. My body shivered, I felt his gaze on me. Maybe I was thinking too much. He wouldn't care about our mate bond. I also remembered now, I'd heard that infamous alphas are cruel, ruthless, far more powerful than other alphas. They have special powers. Chloe came to the kitchen and cleared her throat. "Listen, today make something special. I don't want Magnus to think our maid is a bad cook and ask us to throw you out. Well, we wouldn't have a problem with that, but it would be difficult for you. Who knows, outside you might get killed by rogues." I always hated her, but right now I loathed her. She took the man who belonged to me. He was supposed to be mine, not hers. She is so damn lucky. I nodded. "You don't need to worry, Chloe. Alpha Magnus will love the food." She turned to leave but stopped. "Oh yes, make custard too. Magnus loves it." Then she walked out. Pain ripped through my chest. They must be so close already, that's why she knew what he liked. After all, she spent two months with him. Again it hurt. Maybe they already had sex.., I stopped. I couldn't even finish that thought. The mere idea killed me. I always waited for my mate. Never even thought about another male, never gave anyone else a single glance. But what did I get in return? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. What will happen in the future? I always imagined that when I met my fated mate, we would accept each other, he would take me with him. But what now? I couldn't stay here forever, they would throw me out one day. Where would I even go? Again my eyes filled with tears. I have to ask Magnus why he didn't accept me. Am I really that bad? I arranged dinner on the dining table. They had skipped lunch since they were having it with Alpha Xavier, who had been eager to meet Magnus. He felt blessed that the infamous Alpha was a guest in their pack. My father and Julie were feeling proud, thinking it would bring favour for them and respect for the pack. After arranging everything, I stood beside the table. Dad and Julia came together, then Chloe and Magnus came hand in hand, like a happy couple, stealing glances at each other with soft eyes. My jaw clenched in anger. Jealousy shot through my veins. But I couldn't do anything. Just stare at them and mourn my fate. They happily ate dinner. Then Chloe said, "Magnus baby, this custard is specially for you, I made it myself. Have a taste." Bloody liar. Magnus's eyes softened at her. He took a bite, then softly said. "Thank you, Chloe. This is amazing. I've never eaten custard this delicious." I wanted to shout at him. Tell him it was made by me, not Chloe. She doesn't know how to make anything. But I couldn't say a word. I just stood there watching their little lovey-dovey show. Everyone was enjoying themselves, and here I was, standing like a fool. After they finished eating, everyone walked out. Chloe's arms were tightly wrapped around Magnus's as she led him toward his room, just like she owned him. As always, I ate alone. Still watery-eyed. After finishing the work, I was about to go to my room, but suddenly someone grabbed my wrist, and the next moment I found myself pinned against the wall.Amara"I hate you, you arrogant bastard," I whispered. "Did you hear me?"No reply as Magnus lay motionless on the bed."You tormented me. You rejected me. You made me feel like nothing was in front of you." My voice cracked, I kept my voice as low as I could. "Why couldn't I have a different mate? Why did the Goddess give me someone as cruel as you?"But the bond would not let me hate him, however hard I tried. It tugged at my chest every time I looked at his pale face.More than once I had begged the Goddess to break it. Tonight I prayed for the opposite, that it would hold him here with me."Wake up," I said softly. "Your pack is nothing without you, everyone needs you."He did not answer. His beautiful blue eyes stayed closed.Zia whimpered inside my head, as weak and exhausted as I was. How can wolfsbane hurt him this badly? It was strange. Wolfsbane affected Alphas too, but never like this, not an Alpha as powerful as Magnus. Something was wrong. I picked up the bowl and spoon
Amara Magnus was lying on the bed, so still that my heart ached in pain. I blinked hard to push back the tears, because crying would have looked suspicious. His eyes were closed and without the smirk he looked almost innocent. This was not the arrogant alpha who mocked me and looked through me as if I were nothing. Wolfsbane could kill a wolf who was low rank, a weak one. Magnus was an Alpha. It should never have hurt him this badly. Then the doctor's voice cut through the room. "Hurry. Give the alpha another injection.""Why didn't the first one work?" The second doctor asked in surprise. The needle slid into Magnus's arm, and I flinched as if it had gone into mine. I didn't notice the tears until they were already sliding down my cheeks. Please, Moon Goddess. Keep him safe. He has so many enemies, and he can't leave like this. He has to get better.Zia paced and howled inside my head. She was suffering too. 'He will find his way back,' I told her. I wasn't sure which of us I was
AmaraThe party was over, and everyone had gone back to their homes. I had spent the whole time ignoring Magnus, but the sight of him beside Chloe was still alive in my chest like a fresh wound. Now I lay on my bed, replaying the day. My mate had chosen another woman as his Luna. I had already accepted that I would never be Magnus's choice. I had made my peace with it, or so I told myself. Then everything had shifted. He had not marked her and not completed the bond because he said his wolf was unwell, he had told the pack, as if that explained anything. That was new. I had never heard of a marking being delayed because a wolf felt under the weather. Especially an Alpha wolf.I sat up, frustration prickling under my skin. Why would he do this? It would have been best if he had freed me completely. Instead, I was still tied to him.I hate you asshole Alpha.'I hope our other half is fine,' Zia said sadly speaking for the first time in hours.'Ohh, Moon Goddess. You're right, Zia. I fo
Alpha Adrian My eyes kept drifting to Isadora, and I could not stop them, fuck it. She was my stepsister, six years younger than me, and completely off limits. Yet every sensible thought in my head blurred the moment she walked into my life. I have to stay away from her. 'You always say the same line but can't do it.' Thor, my wolf Snickered in my head. I sighed hard. What was I supposed to do? It wasn't a choice. Since she had come back from her hometown to the pack, something had been dragging me toward her. It was filthy and forbidden and it did not let go. I was twenty-five. I was supposed to wait for my mate, the way every wolf did. But nah here I was, and I no longer wanted her. I wanted the girl across the room the one I had no right to want. "Don't be so obvious, man. Your sister might figure out that you don't have good intentions towards her." Scott's teasing voice pulled me out of my thoughts. He dropped into the seat beside me, grinning like a fool. "St
Magnus As soon as Scott came back to where we stood, I raised my fist to punch him, but the fucker dodged it. He laughed and was clearly enjoying the shit show."Why are you hitting me, Magnus? What did I do?" Scott raised his hands and tried to look innocent."You know what you did, fucktard. Don't give me this shit," I hissed at him. My fist was still shaking. I had seen him touch my omega's hand. She was mine."I was just having a good conversation with Lady Amara. What's your problem? She's single, isn't she?"I growled in warning. The possessive sound came from deep in my chest and I didn't try to stop it.Adrian put his hand on my shoulder and looked at me carefully, like he wanted to understand something. I didn't give him any reaction, so he asked, "Why does it bother you so much, Magnus? Who is she to you? Do you have feelings for her?"I stayed quiet because I didn't know what to say. They were my closest friends, but I couldn't tell them about my pack or my secrets. Som
AmaraI had forced myself to stop after constant crying. I had cried the whole night and never slept. My mind drifted somewhere far from my body, and that stupid organ, heart kept throbbing, reminding me of the pain with every single beat.Today my mate would choose another Luna. He would mark Chole and seal their bond forever, and after that he would belong to her until his last breath.A lone tear slide again. I wiped it away. I had no strength to go outside, because watching Magnus beside Chole would be torture. Yet deep down, I had already accepted it. I was the unlucky child of the Moon Goddess, and this was nobody's fault but my fate's.With a heavy heart, I wore the dress Chole had given me. She had worn it before but it was still pretty. In the mirror, my reflection looked dull, my eyes drained of every colour. I only combed my hair and finally stepped outside. The whole place glittered with strings of lights, and other arrangements perfect for a Luna ceremony. I stood there
AmaraI was about to fall when a strong arm grabbed my waist and steadied me. I shivered from that touch. Sparks crept across my entire body, and that familiar forest air scent filled my nostrils. My eyes collided with his dangerous blue ones. He steadied me and hissed angrily."Are you blind, omeg
Amara Hearing that voice, I raised myself from my bed. My room was on the second floor, but at the far end, so were Chloe's room and the guest room where Magnus was staying. I opened my window and it felt like someone had jumped from a window and ran toward the north direction, where Alpha Xavier
AmaraI was scared at the sudden movement, my eyes were closed, but a familiar scent hit me. Addictive forest air. Alpha Magnus. My eyes shot open. The sparks from his touch were so intense they made me want to pull him closer, to feel him everywhere. But what I saw when my gaze met his stopped me
Amara“You are still here? Didn't I tell you to go to the market and buy vegetables?”I heard my stepmother Julie's voice. I turned to her — she looked so angry, like she wanted to kill me. I nodded meekly, trying to look innocent."Go right now!" she screamed at me.I went to the market. Why was m
