ANMELDENIt was as though I was frozen in place, stuck to my seat, with nothing making sense. I was fixated on the woman before me. I was afraid to move, because I wasn't sure I could hold myself back from doing something stupid, like saying "damn it" and marking her. No, we couldn't take that risk, yet. So, my only option was to remain as immobile as a statue.
Her gaze was fixed on me as she started to move her hips in a gentle sway, the movement fluid and her expression... sensual. WaMAVERICK.I swallowed. And swallowed. And swallowed as Lisa led me back upstairs after we had breakfast. I was sure that if a swallow could bruise a throat, then mine would've become all the deep colors considering the number of times I have swallowed in such a short time period.Damn!I wasn't sure I had ever been this nervous. Or maybe I had been when I was planning to face Hibba with an explanation for all my shit. But this... this is a different type of nervousness. This was ripping me apart on the inside, yanking at every nerve that had held my sanity together through breakfast, festing and chipping at it like an insect would to something it found fascinating. Yeah, that kind.My hands were clammy, sweat dripping down my neck as we continued the journey, neither of us saying a single word to the other since I asked her to take us somewhere private where we could talk.'BiBi...' Sherneil's voice filtered through my mind.
"You guys couldn't wait to get out of the rain to get at it?" Khalil asked as soon as Mav stepped into the fortress with me cradled to him."Buzz off," Mav growled, throwing him a scant look. "Eyes off my mate, you piece of shit!""I wasn't looking. Chill!" Khalil answered, raising his hands. The rain still hadn't stopped yet, but after our activity there, we decided to step back in. As soon as we walked through the door, Khalil rounded the corner from his quarters."At least, you look like you are glowing from you know..." he chuckled, "well, good to see you looking good, man." Khalil said, coughing."I am going to beat you up once I catch you," Mav growled.'Stop being all growly,' I mindlinked him. 'It is not fun.''He is looking at you!''Only because you stayed back.'"Hey everyone," Lisa's voice floated through, and I watched as she paused in her tracks when she saw Khalil on the side. "Uh, guess
His steps were fast, as he swallowed up the space between us and kneeled before Robyn.'Hey, gorgeous,' he murmured, leaning closer and placing a chaste kiss to Robyn's snout.Robyn's feet wobbled again, nearly doubling over. Mav steadied her quickly.'Hey, you okay?' He asked, taking Robyn's face in his large hand.'Sher, I am panicking!' She cried to me, and somehow, I guess Mav heard her because he chuckled and kissed her snout again.'Why are you panicking?' He asked, rubbing his nose against her snout. Robyn whimpered, moving uncomfortably. Wow! What a sight to see, Robyn nervous.'I guess you really are all words and no action, Mate,' another voice floated through, and I instantly knew it was Amadi.'That's not true!' Robyn quickly said, standing tall as though she wasn't shaking on the inside. I laughed quietly, enjoying the show.'Really?' Amadi asked, and just like that, I felt anoth
SHERNEIL.'Robyn!' I yelled through the confines of Robyn's mind. 'What are you doing? How did this happen?'Because obviously, as weird as this may sound, Robyn had shifted back to her form, despite the fact that I had taken over after her time with Amadi and could clearly remember being wrapped in Mav's large frame as I slept. So now, how in the name of everything, am I back in the confines of her mind while she jumps around in the rain, falling into puddles with no care whatsoever?'Sher!' she squealed, jumping into another puddle as the rain poured on her fur. It was raining heavily, but Robyn didn't exactly seem to mind. 'I shifted! You can see that right? Of course you can!' She added.'I can clearly see that. What I do not understand, however, is what we are doing out here in the rain, Robyn.''Of course you were going to miss the point,' she murmured, pausing from her jumps. 'I am in the rain because I obviously love the
It dawned on me then, now that we were marked, now that we were one, she would feel my pain. My emotions. It was too much to ask, too much to share with her. I didn't want this. This was certainly one of the reasons why I had wanted to avoid this, because what good would it be to watch her in pain for my sake.'D... don't do... that,' I heard her voice cut through my thoughts. 'Don't you dare block me out, Amadi. Stop it! Right this minute.' She continued firmly, the pain in her voice increasing as she tried and failed to conceal her anger.I realized then, that amidst my thoughts, I had automatically tried to block her off. To put a barrier between us, one that would break off any connection between us, just so she wouldn't feel the pain I experienced. Just like I always did with Mav.I peered down, only to catch her pain-stricken eyes fixed on mine. I didn't like that. Didn't like that I caused her pain.'Come lay with me,' her voice cut through me.I did as she asked, laying beside
AMADI.The barrier broke. The shield snapped in two.The bones moved, cracking, quickly replaced by my silver fur. My gaze sharpened, as I howled loudly at the moon. There was a certain strength around me that hadn't been there for years. I still felt the pain within. My front paws were literally just... there. They hung with no feeling whatsoever. I was still able to shift. Able to break the wall that I had constructed between Mav and I so I could protect him. Snap! Just like that. That was the power of a mate. The power that giving yourself completely to your other half could do.Right now, with the combined strength of our mate, I had gotten stronger. Strong enough to shift and to get the chance to truly meet her.The last time I smelt the night air, felt the earth with my own paws, felt the air against my fur, was just over a year ago. I wasn't sure exactly how I was supposed to feel, but I certainly wasn't ready for the scent that gobsmacked me in the face.It was... dangerous.T
SHERNEIL. Friday morning dawned bright and brisk. I was scheduled to have a meeting with the king and a few members of the CSI to finally discuss my findings from the human kingdom shortly. After a quick shower, I grabbed my black suit with a white flop tucked in at the top and got
Something knocked at my chest at her words. I focused my gaze on where both men laid, with Mav staring down at them, arms crossed over his chest. There wasn't a single drop of blood on his body, despite the blood scattered around Mal and his friend. Mav was perfectly clean. "I bet you won't be abl
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I was furious with these men for what they had done to me, but I didn't want their apologies. After all, this wasn't the first time they taunted me, albeit being the first time they threw dirty words directly at me. And I certainly do not want them kissing my
MAVERICK. The slow humming. The sound of the fire crackling. The sweat trickling down my body. And the sound of my heavy breathing. Those sounds, combined, are dangerous, yet comforting to know that it'll end soon. That the pain would end and I'd be fine again. "Let go of your pent up anger. Rele
