Kaile's POV

I stared at the strange woman who was also staring back.

"What do you mean you don't know?", I asked, a hint of disbelief in my tone.

"I don't remember", she answered.

I blinked. Was she lying? But it didn't look like she was lying. I looked at the doctor.

"Could this be because of the attack?", I asked him.

"It's possible maybe she's concussed", he answered as he moved closer to inspect her.

"Open your eyes please", he told her and she did. He flashed a light in her eyes and examined her.

"Doesn't seem to be concussed", he said after a few minutes.

"I'm fine", she mumbled, causing all of us to turn our attention to her.

"I just can't remember", she muttered softly, her eyes down as she fidgeted with the sheets.

Seeing her like that caused my heart to ache.

"Thank you doctor", I said and the doctor bowed before leaving the room.

I nodded at the maid signaling her to leave as well and she bowed before leaving.

With the two of us left alone in the room, I could properly take a look at her. She had a heart shaped face with very soft features, a button nose, thin lips and sparkly eyes. Her hair was a gold blonde and it fell down almost to her waist as far as I could see. She was very pretty. I slowly walked towards her and stopped just by her bedside. She kept her head down and seemed to recoil a bit. I didn't want her to be scared of me.

"My name is Kaile", I introduced myself.

She nodded.

"Do you really not remember anything?", I asked and she shook her head.

"Where am I?", she asked softly.

"Oh you're at my mansion in the Kraken pack", I answered.

She nodded softly.

"Oh"

"And those people.. they um bowed to you.. so are you the leader or", she asked softly.

"I'm the alpha, yes", I answered.

"Oh", was all she said in response and we fell into silence again.

"So how did you end up in the woods alone?", I asked.

"I woke up there", she answered.

"You woke up there?"

She nodded her head.

"I was in this dark void with a bright light. I walked towards the light and then I woke up in the woods, that's all I remember", she explained.

"So you don't remember anything before that? Where you’re from? Who you are?", I asked and she shook her head.

I studied her.

"I'm not lying", she mumbled after some time.

"What?"

"It may seem crazy but it's the truth, I don't remember anything prior to the dark void and whenever I try to, my head starts to hurt really bad and....", she sobbed.

"Hey, it's ok", I comforted her.

"It's ok, I believe you"

She looked up at me, her eyes glassy and sparkling.

"You do?"

"I do", I nodded my head.

"You know what? You can stay here for as long as you want, until you've regained your memories at least, it's probably temporary", I told her.

"Really?", she asked, eyes wide.

"Yes", I nodded.

"Thank you", she said softly.

"It's no problem", I told her.

We stayed in silence until a low rumbling sound filled the room. I looked at her and her cheeks were red with embarrassment. She quickly hid her face in her hands. I chuckled at her reaction.

"Are you hungry?", I asked and she nodded her head shyly.

"I'll have them make something for you", I told her.

She didn't answer, didn't look at me, she just nodded her head. She looked very embarrassed so I stood up and left, a smile on my face.

Outside I met the maid who had come to call me earlier.

"She's hungry. Have the cook prepare something for her", I told her and she bowed.

I headed for the meeting room where Reuben stood waiting for me at the entrance.

"So?", he asked as I approached him.

"She doesn't remember anything", I told him as I walked past him into the meeting room.

"What?", he asked surprised.

"That's it"

"How can you be sure she's telling the truth?", he asked.

I glanced at him before looking at the doctor who was waiting for me.

"Well doctor, what do you think?", I asked him.

"Well, it is possible. She could have suffered from some form of trauma after being attacked by those rogue wolves, we all know how ruthless they can be", the doctor answered and I shook my head.

"She remembers that. She remembers being chased by them, she remembers waking up in the woods shortly before she was attacked but she doesn't remember anything before that", I told him.

"So how did she end up in the woods?", Reuben asked.

I looked at him a bit annoyed. Reuben was my best childhood friend but sometimes he could be infuriating.

"Is that possible doctor?", I asked ignoring him.

"I don't know. It could be. It could be trauma from another event prior to being attacked by the rogue wolves", he answered.

"Could she be faking it doctor?", Reuben asked and I rolled my eyes.

"I wouldn't know the human mind is very complicated", the doctor answered.

"Thank you doctor, you can go now", I dismissed him. He bowed and left.

I turned my attention to Reuben.

"Why are you being so suspicious?", I asked him.

"Don't you find it suspicious? A girl in the woods alone at that time? Claims she doesn't remember anything. Everyone knows you don't hang around that part of the woods, it's the rogue wolves hunting grounds", Reuben told him.

"Maybe she forgot", I shrugged.

"So she says. But look at where you found her, the inner boundary, you don't think this could be a ploy by that alpha Ezra?", Reuben asked.

"Ezra wouldn't do something as sneaky as that", I told him.

"How do you know?", he retorted and I narrowed my eyes at him.

He relented and heaved a deep sigh.

"Look, all I'm saying is these are unsure times, the rogue wolves are growing more audacious by the day, this rift between you and the Ravenwood pack is getting more tense, even if it isn't a ploy by Ezra, it could be a ploy by anyone, I just want you to be careful", Reuben said and I nodded.

"I understand"

"I have to go, I have errands to run", he said as he bowed.

I nodded and he left.

Alone, I pondered on Reuben's words. The image of her face looking at me hopefully as she told me she wasn't lying flashed in my head. There was no way she was lying, that look couldn't have been an act. Could it?

Kaile's point of view As we rode towards Ezra's kingdom, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had been growing inside me since Eve told me about her dream. She had been so casual about it, so matter-of-fact, but I could sense the underlying tension in her voice.I glanced over at her, watching as the wind whipped through her hair. She was so beautiful, so strong and determined. But I knew that she was also vulnerable, that the dream had unsettled her in ways that she couldn't even begin to understand.I felt a pang of jealousy, of possessiveness. Who was this Ezra person, and why was he featuring in Eve's dreams? I knew that I had no right to feel this way, that Eve was free to dream about whoever she wanted. But I couldn't help the way I felt.As we rode, I found myself stealing glances at Eve, trying to read her expression. Was she thinking about Ezra? Was she wondering what it would be like to be with him?I felt a surge of frustration, of anger. Why was I letting this

"I've heard rumors of a black dagger being used in ancient rituals," he said, his voice low and cautious. "But I never thought it was connected to the killer."I felt a surge of excitement mixed with fear. We were getting close to uncovering the truth, but we were also getting closer to danger."We need to tell Ezra about this," I said, my voice firm.Kaile nodded in agreement. "I'll go get him. But Eve, we need to be careful. If the killer is using a black dagger, we don't know what they're capable of."I nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation. We were playing with fire, but we had to see this through. As Kaile turned to leave, I called out to him. "Kaile."He tur

Should I tell Kaile too?I shook my head, pushing the thought aside. It was late, and I was too tired to think clearly. I would decide what to do in the morning.I walked over to the washbasin and splashed some cold water on my face, trying to clear my head. The cool water was refreshing, and I felt a little more alert.I dried my face and walked back to bed, my mind still whirling with thoughts of the dream and the black dagger. I climbed into bed and pulled the covers up to my chin, trying to shut out the thoughts and get some rest. But as I lay there, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. The dream had felt so real, and the image of the black dagger kept flashing in my mind.I sighed and closed my eyes, trying to will myself to sleep. But as Kaile's kiss deepened, I felt myself relaxing, felt myself getting lost in the sensation of his lips on mine.It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. My mind was a thousand miles away, consumed by thoughts of Eve.I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had been growing inside me since Eve returned from Ezra's kingdom. I had seen the way Ezra looked at her, the way he smiled at her, and it made my blood boil.I didn't want to lose Eve. I didn't want her to be taken away from me by Ezra or anyone else. But I was scared to admit my true feelings to her. What if she didn't feel the same way?I sighed, rubbing my temples. I had to face the truth. I was in love with Eve. I had been for a long time, but I had been too afraid to admit it.The thought sent a shiver down my spine. What would happen if Eve found out? Would she feel the same way, or would she reject me?I looked up, my eyes falling on a small, leather-bound book on my shelf. It was a book of poetry, one that Eve had given me a long time ago.
