Murmurs rippled across the room. Cassian's jaw ticked, but he said nothing. I smiled, not sweetly.

"I appreciate the compliment, Alpha Serana," I said, letting my voice carry. "But effort was never necessary."

That got a few chuckles. Some genuine. Some mocking. The atmosphere was tense as I held her gaze, unwilling to back down.

Serana tilted her head, clearly not used to being answered. "We'll see if you carry that same confidence into the summit proceedings, Luna."

"I don't wear confidence like a dress," I replied. "I bring it with me."

Cassian's fingers tensed on the edge of the table, but he didn't correct me.

"Enough posturing," Alpha Kaden, the man in the brown suit, the host, spoke again, leaning back in his chair, diffusing the tension a little. "We're not here for games. The rogue activity has increased in the South, and two border villages were attacked last week. We lost eight wolves, three of them children."

The room went silent. Just like that, the politic

  • Mated To The Alpha Who Bullied Me    Chapter 17: the space between hate and hunger

The ride back home was quiet, tense. Cassian sat beside me, his body rigid, eyes locked on the dark window. The silence was thick, almost choking.I didn't speak. I didn't know what to say. Was he mad at me? His thigh brushed mine, warm and steady, but his energy was anything but calm. He hadn't said a word since we left, just opened the door, let me in, and slid in after me. His fingers twitched on his knee. A sign that he was furious. When we pulled up to the house, he stepped out first without waiting. I followed silently, the air between us still crackling. "Cassian," I finally called out the moment we were alone. The room was dark. He stopped, turning around to face me. The moonlight spilling from the window behind him made him look ethereal but dangerous."Darling?" He asked, his voice low but the anger in it couldn't be mistaken. I frowned, confused. "Is that why you've been sulking? Because I called you darling?" He growled lowly. The sound sent tingles down my spine. "D

My eyes didn't move from Cassian all night. I watched him converse with the other Alphas, his posture tense and alert. He had one hand tucked in his pocket, his other hand playing with his finger. It was subtle, but I noticed it. He didn't glance at me for once. "I'm going to get something to eat," Nicole spoke from beside me. “Want anything?" I shifted my gaze to his, my annoyance unconcealed. “No, Nicole." He nodded, frowning slightly but said nothing. No matter how kind he was to me, I'd never forgive him for high school. I heard a low chuckle from behind me, one that made my skin tingle. My breathing hitched and I sat up straighter, alert. What is this? The chair beside me scraped and I felt a presence, one that sent chills down my spine. The aura screamed danger, yelling at me to run in the opposite direction and at the same time, something in me was drawn towards it. "You're feisty," he sounded amused. I glanced up at him and good lord. He had a small smirk on his lips, hi

  • Mated To The Alpha Who Bullied Me    Chapter 14: the summit of masks

The car ride to the summit was silent. Cassian sat beside me in a black tuxedo, his eyes focused on the window, while Nicole sat with the driver at the front, fidgeting with his hands. The summit was held in a neighbouring pack. The ten great packs took turns hosting it. I'd attended once, with my father before he died, as the daughter of the Beta. Now I rode in silence with my mate, the Alpha, as the Luna. It would've felt good if it was anyone but Cassian. "We're here," Nicole announced, leaning forward in his seat. About damn time. It was getting really annoying sitting in tense silence. The house was two stories tall, unlike Cassian’s; this house wasn't anything lavish. The house was a towering Victorian beauty, all charm and mystery wrapped in wood and brown shiny paint. Its steep gabled roof cut sharply into the sky, and ornate trim curled like lace along the edges of the porch. Bay windows jutted, their glass panes catching the moonlight in quiet glints. Vines curle

  • Mated To The Alpha Who Bullied Me    Chapter 13: Cassian’s POV

Cassian's POV "She picked a green dress," Kira reported, folding her arms in disapproval. "We tried to stop her, but she threatened to take away my freedom. I was so shocked. Her hostility is not Luna material." She averted her gaze to the ground. “What would the council say when they officially meet her?" I leaned back in my chair, staring up at the ceiling. Kira, Talia, the pack, rogues, pains in my fucking ass. "Say something, Cassian. You need to put her in check." Her loud voice scratched at my ears. Put her in check ? How exactly was I supposed to do that ? "She..." "Can you stop talking?" I interrupted. "I'm trying to think." I didn't look at her, didn't need to, but I heard her slump into her seat in defeat. My head hurt from all the paperwork I've had to deal with, meetings I've had to attend, and now this, Talia being a pain as usual. "We've had more rogue spotting in the past week than usual." "Cassian... Talia." I averted my gaze to her, fixing her with

  • Mated To The Alpha Who Bullied Me    Chapter 12: know your place

I hated shopping. Correction: I hated being forced to shop with two minions that made my life miserable. The boutique was obnoxiously luxurious, with marble floors, gold-accented mirrors, and racks upon racks of designer clothes that probably cost more than most wolves made in a month. Everything about it screamed elegance and wealth. Show-offs. "Alpha Cassian sent us ahead," Nicole told the sales assistant at the door, who immediately bowed and welcomed us in with a tight smile and too much enthusiasm. Kira strutted in like she owned the place, heels clacking, hips swaying, and eyes already scanning for the most expensive thing she couldn't afford. I followed after them, dragging my feet and trying not to look like a hostage. Because that's exactly what I was. A hostage. "This is where the Luna shops," Kira mocked with a smirk, her voice a little too loud. "Not some dusty thrift store in Rome." I ignored her, walking straight to the back where the racks were less flashy
