Chapter Three
Laila PovA white wolf? I am a from the descendant of a white wolf? Alpha Ares and Ayesha had left me alone but they had also been foolish to think that I wouldn’t be able to get out. I glanced to my side hoping to see if I could use anything, but there was nothing.“You need to get out of here Lai.” I whispered to myself. I was still in my clothes from yesterday, clothes that held so many memories. I should burn them when I get out of here.I checked my wrist, bruised and painful, if I just squeezed I could get out.“You got this,” I bit down on my lips drawing blood on my lips, my left wrist slipped though the first chains and then the second came off. I rubbed my wrist massaging them. I managed to get on my feet and quietly rushed towards the door which was locked.“That’s not do hard.” I pulled at the pin in my hair and picked the lock, it opened after the third push. Slowly I pushed the door opened and peeked out, there was no guards or camera’s in sight. How do I get out of here? there was a long hallway to my left and a window to my right, It was night and the moon shone through the glass. The hallway seemed like a bad choice as loud laughter echoed from that end. There was probably a group of people from that end which I wouldn’t want to cross paths with. The window it is, I inspected the sides and discovered it was opened, pushing it opened I stared down at where it lead, it was dark outside and the all that was around was bushes, it didn’t seem like a great idea but I was running out of options.I wedged my feet on the wall as I climbed down, I waited hoping that there weren’t guards available. When I was ready to dash I heard the sound of a stick crunch under someone’s feet. I held in my breath and maintained my position.“Who’s there?” the man asked, I was happy that a bit of a branch was covering most of me. “Don’t hide, i know you’re there.” The man repeated.Shit, I was busted.Another noise was heard from nearby and another person emerged.“Donna! its you.” The man’s voice rose a couple of notes higher.“Hey mark, I heard you were on duty and I stopped by.” I sighed in relief and continued further into the night. When I was sure to be far from the building I ran as fast as my legs could carry me.Tree branches scratched against my body as I ran, I hissed at the pain but didn’t stop. I continued ignoring the discomfort, even in my boots it was difficult to keep up.Then I heard it, it was faint but very clear, somewhere in the distance a howl that pierced through the air and into the night. I was aware of only one creature who could howl like that, a wolf. The things that Ayesha and Alpha Ares said to me keep flooding back, ‘wolves exists whether you believe it or not.’My heart drummed loud in my ears and I tripped over falling to the ground.“Argh-“ I moaned and the loud beat echoed in my ears again, I opened my eyes which began to see double and my vision blurry. It came again this time and I clutched my chest to calm myself down. What was happening? My eyes watered and my breathing became ragged. The sound of feet padding in my direction became louder, I had to get out from here before they find me. Pushing myself up, I counted to three while I controlled my breathing and rose to my feet, I stopped when I saw what was in front of me.Three, there were three of them. Huge wolves stalking towards me with baring teeth, they had yellow eyes which glowed, unlike the one I nearly drove into the day before these ones were smaller.I staggered backwards, why were they coming for me? I was so caught up in what was in front of me that I didn’t pay attention to what’s behind me.I hit the hard frame which grabbed my arms. I struggled to get free but my abductor was stronger and his grip was tighter.“Don’t crush her hands Richard, the girl is precious.” A feminine voice instructed and the man let me go, I scrambled away falling to my butt. My eyes darted from one place to another watching the people who circled me along side the wolves.“Who are you? What do you want with me?” I managed to ask. If they were going kill me they should at least give me answers.“We darling are-“ the woman halted and then I realized why, there was another presence present.“Step away from the girl Morgana.” I turned towards Alpha Ares who was taking slow steps in my direction, the woman, Morgana pulled back slowly letting me by myself.“Laila, come here.” he instructed, his eyes hard locked with mine. I swallowed unable to move due to the intensity in the space, it was suddenly to hard to breath and gravity held down on my feet making it hard for me to control them.“Laila-“ cold finger tips pressed against my neck and my blood dribbled down my back at the touch.“why should she go to you? She’s afraid of you and yet you want her to come to you.” Morgana’s teasing voice echoed in my ears. They sent another chill waves down my back as she grabbed my neck tugging my head backwards, from my line of teary vision the three wolves walked in a offensive stand towards Alpha Ares. His face contoured in aggression and his chest heaved, the moon light poured its light on his bare chest. His eyes crossed mine and softened for a bit before I hissed out in pain as Morgana tugged my head backward again.“Argh!” my voice snapped into the night and my eyes closed as the tension increased.“Night Night Laila.” She whispered and I passed out again. The sound of the door opening and closing brought me out of my slumber, my limbs felt heavy to move and my head drowning in pain. Slowly, I flexed my fingers and they grazed against the soft material, my eyes parted opened and right opposite where I laid was Alpha Ares staring at me with his hands crossed across his chest.Something about him was different, his eyes were not as intimidating as before, they were softer and lighter and then his hair seemed tousled in a different direction.“You’re up, did you have a very goodnight rest?” his voice was also calmer and didn’t have any form of malice in it. I had to be dreaming right? This couldn’t be the Alpha Ares I met few days back.“What happened? Where am i? did you bring me back to your prison?” I lashed out pushing my body up to lean against the headboard.“No, I have no idea. I just heard of the new girl in the pack house and came to see for myself.” He answered casually. My brows up tugged up in confusion, is he saying he hasn’t seen me before.“Did Morgana give you a concussion for you to be spitting bullshit Ares?” I spat at him studying his move. I expected the narrowed eye brows and tight lips instead his eyes lit up and lips parted in a small smirk. 8y“Sorry to break this out to you but I’m not Ares.” He answered moving closer to my bed. I stiffened ready to dash out and fight but he stopped halfway through.“Who are you then?” his smile became wider and with a wink he replied.“My name is Atlas, Ares twin brother.”Chapter FourAres Pov“How did she managed to escape into the night without any one of you knowing?” I spat glaring at the men in my office.“We didn’t he-“ Ayesha sent him a pointed glare that had him shut up.“It shows your incompetence and for this reason you’ll be working double time.” Ayesha said firmly pacing around the room with her hands tucked behind her back.“You’re all dismissed.” I waved them off tapping my feet as they closed the doors.“You should be resting Alpha Ares, you were injured.” Ayesha said calmly folding her hands across her chest. “You were injured last night.” She added.“What about the girl? How is she?” I asked stopping by the window side as I inspected the training outside. “I haven’t checked on her but Atlas said he would stop by to see how she was doing.” My brow ticked at the mention of my twin brother, Atlas.“And you let him?” I questioned turning to her.“You know Atlas, he doesn’t take no for an answer.” She replied. She was right, Atlas wasn’t
Chapter fiveAtlas POVI didn’t expect the girl to be that pretty, yet here she was even in her grief shining in her beauty. Her soft hazel eyes looked vulnerable and her lips were chapped and in a thin line every time I stepped inside the room to give her food to eat. She looked like she’ll rather be anywhere and I made the off comment about seeing the gardens if she ate her food. When she started crying I did expect a nervous breakdown, but she was doing it right in front of me. she had lost her adoptive parents in the past week and she was in a strange place, it was normal that she shed a tear or two but when I pulled her into me my heart raced a thousand times more. Her scent put me at ease and I liked that she leaned on me, I wanted to brush her hair but as usual, my brother showed up.“What in the world is going on here?” Laila pulled away from me like I was a hot stove and my lips spread in a soft smirk directed at my brother.“Nothing that is your business.” She snapped at him
Chapter Six: Marking herLaila Pov“Get up.” Those were the first words I heard, it wasn’t Atlas comforting’s tone instead it was the harsh octave of the woman that hated me, Ayesha. My eyes peered opened and surveyed around, it was still dark from the window. “Don’t make me repeat myself shiro, get up. It is time. I frowned as I rubbed my eyes but made no effort to stand up from the bed. It was still dark why was she disturbing me this early? Had her perso- the rest of my words drowned away in the cold water that poured on my body. “The hell-“ I pranced out of bed, wet and very much cold.“Your initiation starts in the next ten minutes, we have to go.” Ayesha said instead of apologizing. Initiation? What was she talking about? She read the confusion on my face and sighed placing her hands on her hips.“Met me at the front, don’t let me come back here for you.” She said and walked out. I brushed the sticky hair away from my face, I changed out of the wet clothes, luckily Atlas had b
Chapter seven Ares Pov With her standing with her hoodie off, bare to us in the cold air it was difficult to not examine her body. Her shoulders bare and the whiff of her scent all around like a spread of fresh spring. It was difficult to pull my gaze away from her neck, it was an open invitation to dinner. The redness on her skin was spreading due to the cold. I had expected a more chaotic reaction from her after Atlas told her we would be marking her but she was somewhat calm. Her body under my touch was cold and soft, supple like fresh fruit in a good harvest. My fingers circled around her wrist, trapping her with no means to escape. She tensed against us and when she saw us lean into her, I could smell the fear in her. It was plain, and way too obvious. I know Atlas would want to stop but there was no need to extend this. As my face got closer to her skin, the soft heat radiated from her as her heart beat increased in pace. My teeth clawed out and sunk into her skin at th
Chapter Eight Laila PovIt was time for breakfast and I didn't want to leave the room, Ayesha made it clear that she was done serving me and that I had to act like everyone else. It also seemed like she despised me the more, her frown deepened and her words were more venomous when she talked to me.New clothes were brought for me to wear and I was thankful it was nothing outside my style. I grabbed a pair of plain straight pants and a black turtle neck to cover up the faint markings on my neck. My hair was up in a ponytail, I inspected the roots which were already turning back to it's original color, it's about time I dyed it again. While I stepped out of the from and closed the door behind me, the empty hallway greeted me.“Great, I have to walk there alone.” I muttered to myself as I crossed the hall and the down the stairs, a mop of black hair and Atlas back to me. I sighed in relief and rushed down the stairs to meet him.“For a moment, I thought I would have to go down the stai
Chapter NineLaila Pov“The first thing you need to learn is to pay attention.” Ayesha said loudly to all the trianees at the training field.I stood in the far back as I watched her belt out other things, I was in no way interested in what she had to say. I stared down at my training outfit, well fitted combats and a tank top paired with boots.“You must be the new girl.” the guy beside me said. I turned my head in his direction, he was way taller than I am and had his attention strictly fowards without any glance my way and I understood why.“I hope we're paying attention and not ogling at boys.” Ayesha said firmly directly at me, her eyes met with mine and it bored in my head. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes but she then set another question my way.“Laila, tell us the last thing I said.” she crossed her hands behind her back with a slight smirk on her face. Why was she attacking only me? Of course she knew that I wasn't paying attention and saw it as a perfect chance to humili
Chapter tenAres PovIt's been two weeks since she started leaving with us, and joined the pack. She had gotten acquainted with some of the basic things that we do and also she's been avoiding me.“Alpha Ares, you have a call from central.” Ayesha said, I was in the private training room when she stepped in with the cell phone in hand. I sighed brushing my sweaty hair away from my face. “I told you no disturbance Ayesha.” I huffed and grabbed my bottle of water. “I'm sorry Alpha Ares but he said it was pretty important.” she apologized and passed me the phone. “What is it Andro?” I said grabbing a towel from the hanger.“We’ve heard that you have the white wolf in your custody, we're just wondering if they'll be a need to share her-” my fist clenched around the phone and my brow narrowed.“No, she's not public property Andro, she belongs with me.” I growled out. “Come on Ares, she's going to be good for making fine babies-” he was getting on my nerves and he knew it. “Andro, one
Chapter ElevenAtlas PovLaila had been moody for the past couple of days, she was quiet and kept her snarky comments and the thing I found extremely weird was that she was trying to avoid Ares. I knew how much she detested my brother but I didn't think it was enough to keep her in hiding. It was time for dinner today and she was already twenty minutes late, Ares didn’t mind her absence and ate quietly while I remained on the other side.“What’s going on between you two?” I asked leaning back in my seat as I watched my brother eat. “You should stop speaking vaguely Atlas, what do you mean?” He responded not giving me the courtesy of looking up at me.“Laila, you don’t seem bothered that she’s not here.” My brows narrowed at him. He took another bite of his food and chewed on it slowly.“And why should I be? She can do whatever she wants.”“Even if she’s going to starve?” He dropped his spoon and glanced up at me.“If she wants to act childishly then it’s not my problem, the girl nee
