Chapter Two
Laila PovIt was a bad dream. All of it, my eyes peered opened slowly and I sighed in relief when I realized I was in bed. Everything was just a dream, a really bad dream.“You’re up.” a voice from across the room said. Me eyes which were droopy snapped opened for good this time and I realized that I was in a bed that wasn’t mine. I tossed the blankets over me as I tried to find my footing but it was difficult as I staggered and held my head from rolling. My vision happened in doubles and my ears amplified the beating of my heart.“You should remain in bed if you don’t want to get unconscious again.” The voice said, it belonged to a woman I have never seen before. Did she save me? why don’t I re- I leaned on the wall and my eyes widened as everything came flooding back. My 18th birthday, Harley and Justine, nearly knocking into the wolf and-My knees buckle beneath me and I slide down to the floor. No none of this is real.Mum and Dad. I saw them, dead. They were dead. The ma-“You shouldn’t push your self Shiro, last night was chaotic.”I stared at the woman, she was dark skinned and had full curly hair that framed her oval face. She was taller than I am in the black trousers and turtle neck she wore, her boots added to her already existing height. Her sharp black eyes stared at me, accessing me from across the room. She had a tattoo band around her wrist. It was nothing like I’ve seen before.“The man from last night, did you see him?” I asked brewing the anger within me, I pushed back on my feet ignoring the headache.“You mean Alpha Ares, you saw him?” she asked.Alpha Ares? What kind of name was that?“Where the hell is he?” I asked waking up to her, she never flinched or changed her expression at my tone.“Watch your tone shiro.” She warned.“My name isn’t shiro, its freaking Laila!” I snapped but my voice died down and so did mu body crumble back in the darkness. The second time I opened my eyes I wasn’t in the room with a bed, instead this one was empty and colder. I tried to rub my head but the sharp metal sound made me realize that I was chained. I struggled but the metal pieces only echoed in the empty room.“Hello” I called out, my throat was itchy and dry. Why did they bring me here? who brought me here? was it the woman? Or the man? Where was i?The doors opened and the first thing I heard was two pair of feet clad in black ankle boots walk in, my eyes scaled up to the new occupants in the room and my fist tightened as I saw who they were.“Why did you move me here?” I asked the woman who stood behind the man ignoring my question.“Laila,” the man’s deep voice resonated around me, “Do you remember anything?” he asked.“Of course I remember you freaking monster. I remember what you did, and I swear you’re going to pay for it.” I threatened him with every bone in my body. “I’m going to make sure I gut you Alpha Ares or wha-““Control your tongue, you dare not speak to the Alpha like that.” The woman snapped at me ready to skin me alive, but the man in front raised his hands making her to stop.“There’s no need to figth back Ayesha, she’s just in a fright.” He said leaning down to when I was. His olive green eyes were the most captivating thing I had ever seen, from the lights from above they made his eyes twinkle in danger and mystery. His jet black hair was a mess but it looked very well taken care off, his sharp jaw line reminded me of the guys I would see in a celebrity magazine, yet there was something else familiar about him. His eyebrows were full and neatly trimmed and his lips were together in a thin line as he assessed me.“Why? Why did you kill them? What did they do to you?” I asked hoping to get the reason why, the least he could tell me was why.He doesn’t answer and push back to his feet“He didn’t kill your human parents, the night gems did.” Ayesha answered instead folding her arms across her chest. Night Gems? Who was that? What kind of name was that?“They are a group of werewolves who derive joy in annihilating anyone who gets in their way, including your parents.”Did he just say wolves or is my hearing getting horrible?“Yeah right and banshees exists too.” I snorted rolling my eyes at the both of them, neither took my joke seriously and Alpha Ares raised his brows at me.“You know about banshees?” wait was he being serious? Is this a silly game to him?“STOP PLAYING WITH ME, there is no way you’re telling me the truth. Werewolves and banshees are myths that exists in the books and fairytails and not in real life!” I snapped unable to control my anger.“You don’t believe they exist because they’re just myth in book?” His eyes judged me from where he stood.“I can’t believe she’s the one they were coming for, she’s dumb.” Ayesha pointed out right in fornt of me.“Hey-““You are a werewolf Laila and whether you want to believe it or not, that’s what you are.” Alpha Ares stated, his voice was doused in firmness that made me believe that he wasn’t lying. I stared at him unable to understand what he meant.“No I am not an animal, I am human. I have a feet, a face, hands, boobs and a freaking brain.”“Your human guardians were foolish to think they could protect you from your true identity. They must’ve thought it was smart but it only got them killed and you ignorant.” Alpha Ares said with no form of graciousness in his tone. He as firm and unapologetic which made it annoying.“Don’t you dare insult my parents.” I warned but neither of them was taking my threat seriously. Ayesha moved forward until she was right in front of me squatting down to my height, I thought she was going to hit me instead her fingers swopped the chain around my neck breaking it free and right in her clutches.“Give that back.”“They let her keep the only thing they left her,” Ayesha said to Alpha Ares holding the metal chain up to his sight.“Give it back!” I yelled again.“Do you know what this is Laila?” Alpha Ares asked. “This is the symbol of the white wolfs, the rare bloodline of greatest white wolf warriors. That is who you are, your real parents died in a battle while your mom was pregnant for you. Your true form was sealed becused of this chain and now its time for you to embrace who you are.”No. nothing, he said made sense, I saw my real parents die yesterday.“Those where you adoptive parents,”“You’re lying. Nothing you are saying is true. None of this is true, it is all a stupid lie to mess with my head.” I rebuked shaking my head. I couldn’t let there lies mess with me.“Its not a lie and you know it. You know it because their have been several times on a full moon where you felt sick, you didn’t feel like yourself.” Ayesha said. “Its not a matter of whether its all true or not, but know this Laila Sunday, if you don’t want to end up dead like your human parents and get revenge on those who killed them you’ll have to stay here and join us.”Chapter 100- The final mark(updated version)Laila POV“Ayeesha?” her name rolled off my tongue and I turned to her with my brows creased, her dark brows were no longer knitted and were more relaxed and she stared at the device in her arm ignoring the shocked look on my face.“You two were supposed to take care of them since, what was the hold up for?” she said casually and Andrea popped a mint in her mouth while Calum stared at me, he was the only one paying attention to my reaction and the other two didnt mind my break.“Ayeesha- how? No, this has to be a lie, there is no way this is- this is- is true.” I muttered words stuck in my throat, Ayeesha finally turned to me and placed her hands on her hips, i retraced my steps, my legs moving on its own accord. My eyes narrowed in anger.“Why? How-”“You probably didn’t hear it, you were passed out on the slab and you missed it,”“Missed out? missed out? How much of a traitor you are?-”“Oh please, you had the nudge that something was off
Chapter 99- The Third Strike- Part 2Ares POV“Thats enough Morgana,” Atlas stated, he was at the top of the elevation she had just climbed down from. Morgana’s face turned into a deep frown and then her eyes met with the three who were next to her, they exchanged a look that made me uncomfortable. Instead of dispersing as i expected they didn’t move, they remained in their spot like they weren’t aware of the intruder in their midst.“What is? The disrespect that you have for us, then yes, i agree. It is enough.” Morgana replied, “Where is your brother? I’m exoecting two peas in a pod, not one.” As if sensing where i was, she turned and our eyes met, her face which was blank stirred into a smile. It was impecable that she could find me through the crowd- i have sure blended in and far away but she could sense me out of the majority.“Come on, I think this would make a perfect reunion,” she opened her arms wide and then like metal to a magnet, the blade which had been tossed away from
Chapter 98- The Third strike- Part one of the ending.Maya POVThis was it. I was going to get my revenge on Laila for what she did to me. As I left the room, I stared at her one last time before I closed the door behind me. She didn't bother to spare me a glance nor did her eyes plead with me like i wanted, they were hard to read.“You two are done already?” I turned to the guy who was leaning by the wall, he had probably been there for a while. Malcolm, was it?“There’s not so much to talk about, our last meeting was not memorable,” I answered and glanced down at my watch, we had six hours until the main mission commenced.“I thought Morgana was the queen of holding grudges but you-” he pushed off the wall and walked closer to me. Something about Malcolm bothered me, it wasn’t the fact the Morgana blindly trusted him with her all or maybe it was the emotions bridled in his eyes, there was something he was hiding and I just couldn’t figure out what but it bothered me.“You are the qu
Chapter 97 Laila POV“Maya.” Her name tasted like ash on my tongue and my eyes fell on the woman I didn’t think of seeing soon, not here, not with the woman who was going to cause chaos. She stared down at me with her hands crossed over my chest, her hair was packed in a high ponytail. She was dressed in her signature black outfit, the turtle neck covering up her neck leaving her head as the only available skin showing. “Wait, you two want to know each other?” Andrea asked and for a moment I turned to the girl and watched her mouth drop open.“You didn’t know? Laila and Maya are sisters.” Another voice came from behind me, it wasn’t intended but the hair on my neck rose as the aura of the new person in the room clouded the place.“Wait- they are? You are kidding me right?” Andrea said but my blood rushed as i wanted to see the woman behind me, she stayed there driving me to the wall in suspense, i inhaled deeply.“Come on, cheer up Maya. You’re being reunited with your sister after
Chapter 96Atlas PovMy black uniform fit into my body and i brush the imaginary crease off my shoulders then i straightened my back, my face stirred in the mirror and i noticed the black eyes underneath my eyes and the hollow around. I looked like a dead man, there was nothing to tell me that would make me look more alive. I didn’t want to look more alive when she was missing, right under my nose.“You got this Atlas-” I said and opened my door at the same time another door opened. It had been more than twelve hours since i last saw Ares and now that the both of us stood at the empty hallway, we had no choice but to face ourselves. He didnt look any much better than i did, from his hair which were tousled and his eyes which were a bit hollow, his face was darker than usual and it wasnt the color, just his countenance.“Morning.” I greeted but he only nodded and walked down the stairs with his hands by his side. I sighed and followed after him, we made a beeline for the front door. De
Chapter 95Ayeesha POV“....thats all i remember.” I started and rubbed my forehead, another pain was coming on. I resisted the urge to grab the glass of water from the counter, there were so many people around me and they all wanted answers, especially those of the council. Ares isnt here yet neither was Atlas, Just Derek, Estelle and Kevin were the faces that didnt make me want to hide away. I know that i am the chief commander but sometimes i want to step out of my position and just be, but i know that it cant happen.“Thats enough for today.” Derek said and walked up to my bed side, he faced the rest of the council members. “She has clearly not fully recovered from the poisoning and need to gather her thoughts together.”“Its been three hours, our chances of finding the girl is very low.”“We all know that, but rushing without a proper plan isnt going to be helpful either is it?” he asked and they murmured between themself. I glanced down at my palms and rubbed them together.“I’l
