Chapter Two
Laila PovIt was a bad dream. All of it, my eyes peered opened slowly and I sighed in relief when I realized I was in bed. Everything was just a dream, a really bad dream.“You’re up.” a voice from across the room said. Me eyes which were droopy snapped opened for good this time and I realized that I was in a bed that wasn’t mine. I tossed the blankets over me as I tried to find my footing but it was difficult as I staggered and held my head from rolling. My vision happened in doubles and my ears amplified the beating of my heart.“You should remain in bed if you don’t want to get unconscious again.” The voice said, it belonged to a woman I have never seen before. Did she save me? why don’t I re- I leaned on the wall and my eyes widened as everything came flooding back. My 18th birthday, Harley and Justine, nearly knocking into the wolf and-My knees buckle beneath me and I slide down to the floor. No none of this is real.Mum and Dad. I saw them, dead. They were dead. The ma-“You shouldn’t push your self Shiro, last night was chaotic.”I stared at the woman, she was dark skinned and had full curly hair that framed her oval face. She was taller than I am in the black trousers and turtle neck she wore, her boots added to her already existing height. Her sharp black eyes stared at me, accessing me from across the room. She had a tattoo band around her wrist. It was nothing like I’ve seen before.“The man from last night, did you see him?” I asked brewing the anger within me, I pushed back on my feet ignoring the headache.“You mean Alpha Ares, you saw him?” she asked.Alpha Ares? What kind of name was that?“Where the hell is he?” I asked waking up to her, she never flinched or changed her expression at my tone.“Watch your tone shiro.” She warned.“My name isn’t shiro, its freaking Laila!” I snapped but my voice died down and so did mu body crumble back in the darkness. The second time I opened my eyes I wasn’t in the room with a bed, instead this one was empty and colder. I tried to rub my head but the sharp metal sound made me realize that I was chained. I struggled but the metal pieces only echoed in the empty room.“Hello” I called out, my throat was itchy and dry. Why did they bring me here? who brought me here? was it the woman? Or the man? Where was i?The doors opened and the first thing I heard was two pair of feet clad in black ankle boots walk in, my eyes scaled up to the new occupants in the room and my fist tightened as I saw who they were.“Why did you move me here?” I asked the woman who stood behind the man ignoring my question.“Laila,” the man’s deep voice resonated around me, “Do you remember anything?” he asked.“Of course I remember you freaking monster. I remember what you did, and I swear you’re going to pay for it.” I threatened him with every bone in my body. “I’m going to make sure I gut you Alpha Ares or wha-““Control your tongue, you dare not speak to the Alpha like that.” The woman snapped at me ready to skin me alive, but the man in front raised his hands making her to stop.“There’s no need to figth back Ayesha, she’s just in a fright.” He said leaning down to when I was. His olive green eyes were the most captivating thing I had ever seen, from the lights from above they made his eyes twinkle in danger and mystery. His jet black hair was a mess but it looked very well taken care off, his sharp jaw line reminded me of the guys I would see in a celebrity magazine, yet there was something else familiar about him. His eyebrows were full and neatly trimmed and his lips were together in a thin line as he assessed me.“Why? Why did you kill them? What did they do to you?” I asked hoping to get the reason why, the least he could tell me was why.He doesn’t answer and push back to his feet“He didn’t kill your human parents, the night gems did.” Ayesha answered instead folding her arms across her chest. Night Gems? Who was that? What kind of name was that?“They are a group of werewolves who derive joy in annihilating anyone who gets in their way, including your parents.”Did he just say wolves or is my hearing getting horrible?“Yeah right and banshees exists too.” I snorted rolling my eyes at the both of them, neither took my joke seriously and Alpha Ares raised his brows at me.“You know about banshees?” wait was he being serious? Is this a silly game to him?“STOP PLAYING WITH ME, there is no way you’re telling me the truth. Werewolves and banshees are myths that exists in the books and fairytails and not in real life!” I snapped unable to control my anger.“You don’t believe they exist because they’re just myth in book?” His eyes judged me from where he stood.“I can’t believe she’s the one they were coming for, she’s dumb.” Ayesha pointed out right in fornt of me.“Hey-““You are a werewolf Laila and whether you want to believe it or not, that’s what you are.” Alpha Ares stated, his voice was doused in firmness that made me believe that he wasn’t lying. I stared at him unable to understand what he meant.“No I am not an animal, I am human. I have a feet, a face, hands, boobs and a freaking brain.”“Your human guardians were foolish to think they could protect you from your true identity. They must’ve thought it was smart but it only got them killed and you ignorant.” Alpha Ares said with no form of graciousness in his tone. He as firm and unapologetic which made it annoying.“Don’t you dare insult my parents.” I warned but neither of them was taking my threat seriously. Ayesha moved forward until she was right in front of me squatting down to my height, I thought she was going to hit me instead her fingers swopped the chain around my neck breaking it free and right in her clutches.“Give that back.”“They let her keep the only thing they left her,” Ayesha said to Alpha Ares holding the metal chain up to his sight.“Give it back!” I yelled again.“Do you know what this is Laila?” Alpha Ares asked. “This is the symbol of the white wolfs, the rare bloodline of greatest white wolf warriors. That is who you are, your real parents died in a battle while your mom was pregnant for you. Your true form was sealed becused of this chain and now its time for you to embrace who you are.”No. nothing, he said made sense, I saw my real parents die yesterday.“Those where you adoptive parents,”“You’re lying. Nothing you are saying is true. None of this is true, it is all a stupid lie to mess with my head.” I rebuked shaking my head. I couldn’t let there lies mess with me.“Its not a lie and you know it. You know it because their have been several times on a full moon where you felt sick, you didn’t feel like yourself.” Ayesha said. “Its not a matter of whether its all true or not, but know this Laila Sunday, if you don’t want to end up dead like your human parents and get revenge on those who killed them you’ll have to stay here and join us.”Chapter ThreeLaila PovA white wolf? I am a from the descendant of a white wolf? Alpha Ares and Ayesha had left me alone but they had also been foolish to think that I wouldn’t be able to get out. I glanced to my side hoping to see if I could use anything, but there was nothing.“You need to get out of here Lai.” I whispered to myself. I was still in my clothes from yesterday, clothes that held so many memories. I should burn them when I get out of here. I checked my wrist, bruised and painful, if I just squeezed I could get out.“You got this,” I bit down on my lips drawing blood on my lips, my left wrist slipped though the first chains and then the second came off. I rubbed my wrist massaging them. I managed to get on my feet and quietly rushed towards the door which was locked.“That’s not do hard.” I pulled at the pin in my hair and picked the lock, it opened after the third push. Slowly I pushed the door opened and peeked out, there was no guards or camera’s in sight.Ho
Chapter FourAres Pov“How did she managed to escape into the night without any one of you knowing?” I spat glaring at the men in my office.“We didn’t he-“ Ayesha sent him a pointed glare that had him shut up.“It shows your incompetence and for this reason you’ll be working double time.” Ayesha said firmly pacing around the room with her hands tucked behind her back.“You’re all dismissed.” I waved them off tapping my feet as they closed the doors.“You should be resting Alpha Ares, you were injured.” Ayesha said calmly folding her hands across her chest. “You were injured last night.” She added.“What about the girl? How is she?” I asked stopping by the window side as I inspected the training outside. “I haven’t checked on her but Atlas said he would stop by to see how she was doing.” My brow ticked at the mention of my twin brother, Atlas.“And you let him?” I questioned turning to her.“You know Atlas, he doesn’t take no for an answer.” She replied. She was right, Atlas wasn’t
Chapter fiveAtlas POVI didn’t expect the girl to be that pretty, yet here she was even in her grief shining in her beauty. Her soft hazel eyes looked vulnerable and her lips were chapped and in a thin line every time I stepped inside the room to give her food to eat. She looked like she’ll rather be anywhere and I made the off comment about seeing the gardens if she ate her food. When she started crying I did expect a nervous breakdown, but she was doing it right in front of me. she had lost her adoptive parents in the past week and she was in a strange place, it was normal that she shed a tear or two but when I pulled her into me my heart raced a thousand times more. Her scent put me at ease and I liked that she leaned on me, I wanted to brush her hair but as usual, my brother showed up.“What in the world is going on here?” Laila pulled away from me like I was a hot stove and my lips spread in a soft smirk directed at my brother.“Nothing that is your business.” She snapped at him
Chapter Six: Marking herLaila Pov“Get up.” Those were the first words I heard, it wasn’t Atlas comforting’s tone instead it was the harsh octave of the woman that hated me, Ayesha. My eyes peered opened and surveyed around, it was still dark from the window. “Don’t make me repeat myself shiro, get up. It is time. I frowned as I rubbed my eyes but made no effort to stand up from the bed. It was still dark why was she disturbing me this early? Had her perso- the rest of my words drowned away in the cold water that poured on my body. “The hell-“ I pranced out of bed, wet and very much cold.“Your initiation starts in the next ten minutes, we have to go.” Ayesha said instead of apologizing. Initiation? What was she talking about? She read the confusion on my face and sighed placing her hands on her hips.“Met me at the front, don’t let me come back here for you.” She said and walked out. I brushed the sticky hair away from my face, I changed out of the wet clothes, luckily Atlas had b
Chapter seven Ares Pov With her standing with her hoodie off, bare to us in the cold air it was difficult to not examine her body. Her shoulders bare and the whiff of her scent all around like a spread of fresh spring. It was difficult to pull my gaze away from her neck, it was an open invitation to dinner. The redness on her skin was spreading due to the cold. I had expected a more chaotic reaction from her after Atlas told her we would be marking her but she was somewhat calm. Her body under my touch was cold and soft, supple like fresh fruit in a good harvest. My fingers circled around her wrist, trapping her with no means to escape. She tensed against us and when she saw us lean into her, I could smell the fear in her. It was plain, and way too obvious. I know Atlas would want to stop but there was no need to extend this. As my face got closer to her skin, the soft heat radiated from her as her heart beat increased in pace. My teeth clawed out and sunk into her skin at th
Chapter Eight Laila PovIt was time for breakfast and I didn't want to leave the room, Ayesha made it clear that she was done serving me and that I had to act like everyone else. It also seemed like she despised me the more, her frown deepened and her words were more venomous when she talked to me.New clothes were brought for me to wear and I was thankful it was nothing outside my style. I grabbed a pair of plain straight pants and a black turtle neck to cover up the faint markings on my neck. My hair was up in a ponytail, I inspected the roots which were already turning back to it's original color, it's about time I dyed it again. While I stepped out of the from and closed the door behind me, the empty hallway greeted me.“Great, I have to walk there alone.” I muttered to myself as I crossed the hall and the down the stairs, a mop of black hair and Atlas back to me. I sighed in relief and rushed down the stairs to meet him.“For a moment, I thought I would have to go down the stai
Chapter NineLaila Pov“The first thing you need to learn is to pay attention.” Ayesha said loudly to all the trianees at the training field.I stood in the far back as I watched her belt out other things, I was in no way interested in what she had to say. I stared down at my training outfit, well fitted combats and a tank top paired with boots.“You must be the new girl.” the guy beside me said. I turned my head in his direction, he was way taller than I am and had his attention strictly fowards without any glance my way and I understood why.“I hope we're paying attention and not ogling at boys.” Ayesha said firmly directly at me, her eyes met with mine and it bored in my head. I resisted the urge to roll my eyes but she then set another question my way.“Laila, tell us the last thing I said.” she crossed her hands behind her back with a slight smirk on her face. Why was she attacking only me? Of course she knew that I wasn't paying attention and saw it as a perfect chance to humili
Chapter tenAres PovIt's been two weeks since she started leaving with us, and joined the pack. She had gotten acquainted with some of the basic things that we do and also she's been avoiding me.“Alpha Ares, you have a call from central.” Ayesha said, I was in the private training room when she stepped in with the cell phone in hand. I sighed brushing my sweaty hair away from my face. “I told you no disturbance Ayesha.” I huffed and grabbed my bottle of water. “I'm sorry Alpha Ares but he said it was pretty important.” she apologized and passed me the phone. “What is it Andro?” I said grabbing a towel from the hanger.“We’ve heard that you have the white wolf in your custody, we're just wondering if they'll be a need to share her-” my fist clenched around the phone and my brow narrowed.“No, she's not public property Andro, she belongs with me.” I growled out. “Come on Ares, she's going to be good for making fine babies-” he was getting on my nerves and he knew it. “Andro, one
