LUCIAN

The world around me is nothing but chaos as I land hard on shifting ground, my knees buckling as the earth trembles beneath me. The first thing I notice is noise, it's everywhere.

A roar of thunder, a wind that sounds like screaming, and lightning cracking like glass shattering. The ground under me keeps shaking and shifting like it’s alive.

“ This isn’t the real world.” I remind myself. “This is Leah’s mind, the place I risked my bond to step into., and it’s a war zone.”

I force myself to stand, my boots sliding on the unstable ground. My chest tightens as I take it all in. Above me, the sky isn’t blue or black, it’s torn in half. On one side, silver storms swirl like angry oceans, wild and untamed. On the other, bursts of green and gold light flash like exploding stars. The two skies slam into each other, sending shockwaves that rattle my bones.

LUCIANMy eyes snap open with a sharp gasp, like I’ve been drowning for hours and finally broken the surface. My chest rises and falls too fast, lungs burning, and for a moment I don’t even remember where I am. The world feels heavy, blurred, the air thick in my throat. And then I feel something different, warmth. I turn my head, and everything inside me comes to a stop.Leah is there, right beside me. Her hair spills across the pillow in soft waves, the strands glowing softly like they’ve caught the light of the moon itself. Her breathing is steady, and calm. She's alive.Relief hits me so hard it knocks the strength right out of me. A shaky laugh escapes my chest before I can stop it. My hand trembles as I reach out, brushing a strand of her hair from her face. “Leah,” I whisper, my voice low and raw, “you’re here. You’re alive.”Her eyelids flutter, slowly like they're heavy, and then her eyes open. For a second, I forget how to breathe. Her eyes are not the same as before. They’re

LEAHThe ground shakes beneath me as the wolf and the fae version of me slam into each other again, their teeth and light colliding in an explosion that rattles the whole world. The sound alone makes my head pound, and I can barely stand upright. It’s like watching two storms fight for the sky. It's violent, endless, and terrifying.“Stop!” My voice rips out, but it's just raw and useless because neither of them even looks at me.The wolf, Ralia, snarls, snapping at the fae, Iyana's throat. Her fur glows silver, brighter than fire, and she seems to keep increasing in size, dwarfing any creature I’ve ever seen before. Even bigger than Lycans, bigger than Lucian’s beast. The ground seems to crack every time she takes a step. Iyana doesn’t flinch. Her hands keep burning with white light, vines of pure energy whipping forward to slam against Ralia's chest, knocking her back. Her eyes are sharp, cold, judging me with every strike she lands on Ralia. My stomach twists in pain and utter con

THERONThe room is heavy with silence except for Leah’s ragged breathing and Lucian’s stillness beside her. Both of them are locked in whatever dream-battle they’ve been pulled into, their bodies lying motionless on the bed like they’re already dead. I glance at Sasha on the other side of the room, she has the same worried look she's had since Queen Reyna called us in to monitor Lucian and Leah, pacing like a caged lion. I look back at them on the bed, but I look away almost immediately. I can't look at them for too long. It makes my chest tighten in a way I don’t want to admit. So I force myself to focus on what I can control. The phone in my hand buzzes weakly with poor reception. Lucian insisted on getting a few of these before he left the pack, saying “we can’t always rely on the old ways.” It felt unnecessary then. Now it feels like the only lifeline I’ve got.“Come on, pick up,” I mutter under my breath, tapping my fingers against my thigh. Finally, the static clears, and Delt

LUCIANLeah's wolf slams into me, and I hit the ground hard, the air knocked from my chest. My back scrapes across the dirt, pain bursting through my ribs as her massive weight pins me down. Her fangs snap inches from my throat, hot breath burning against my skin.“Leah!” I shout, my voice raw and desperate. My arms shake as I push against her chest, but she’s too heavy. She’s not like any wolf I’ve ever faced, not even Lycans. Her body is huge, bigger than mine, muscles rippling with unnatural strength. Every push feels useless, it's like I’m trying to stop an avalanche with bare hands. Her glowing silver eyes lock on mine. But they don’t look like Leah. There’s none of her warmth or softness in them, nothing familiar. Instead, they’re wild, hungry, and desperate.“Fight it!” I choke out, my chest burning as her claws sink into the dirt on either side of my head. “You’re not just this… don’t let it control you!”A deep growl rumbles out of her, shaking through my bones. The sound is

REYNALucian’s body slumps back in the chair, his head tilting to the side, and his eyes rolling shut.“Lucian?” I whisper, though my voice is already shaking with dread.Leah had been thrashing on the bed for hours, caught between two halves of herself, glowing so brightly her body looks like it’s burning from the inside out. Lucian had been holding on, refusing to let anyone else near her, even when the light scorched his arms. And now, he’s gone too.My hand shakes as I reach out, brushing my daughter’s face. Her skin is hot, searing, like she’s holding fire under her flesh. Lucian’s arm hangs limp against the chair. They are both trapped, pulled into the bond.If they stay too long, they won’t come back. The thought strikes me in the chest so hard it nearly drops me to the floor.I stumble back, forcing myself to stay upright. I can’t lose her. Not after all the years I abandoned her, not after all the choices I made that kept me from being a mother when she needed me most.“Not n
