9. Questions

ASTRID

I made my way to the headmistress office after I was informed by one of the students that she had requested to see me.

Somehow Noah already knew and that made me a little nervous. What could she possibly want to know and why did he ask for me not to reveal much?

“This is the least that you can do for him after he saved you twice, Astrid.” I said mentally to myself before knocking on the door of the headmistress office.

“Come in.” I heard before pulling the doorknob to open the door. 

I entered the headmistress office to see Adriana there and the seconds she saw me, she frowned.

“What is she doing here? Why hasn't she been expelled, mom?” Adriana  asked her mom, clearly displeased by my presence.

Was that why the headmistress summoned me? To expel me again? I couldn’t help but think and the thought of that made me nervous. 

“Why don’t you go back to class Adriana?” The headmistress dismisses her.

“But…”

“Not another word.” The headmistress said to her.

Adriana kept mute. She turned to glare  at me again before walking out of the office but making sure that she bumped her shoulder against mine so hard that I almost lost my balance.

“Good day ma, you called for me.” I said.

“Yes Astrid, I did. Have a seat.” She said with a smile on her face and that made me more nervous than I already was because she was hardly nice to me but somehow she was smiling at me.

“How are you feeling?” She asked.

“I’m feeling fine.” I replied.

“That’s good to hear. After what you almost cost the school reputation, I don’t expect you to be fine though.” She remarked and that made me confused.

“I… don’t understand.” I stuttered.

“Your sex tape. The one that is all over the school.” She replied and I immediately bowed my head in shame, feeling so embarrassed as I recalled the memories of the moment I considered special between me and Damien but I was the only one who felt that way.

It wasn’t the best feeling recalling it.

“I’m sorry.” I quickly stood up from my seat and went on my knees. “I am sorry. I didn’t know that he was recording and I know that it’s a crime in the academy and I…. I’m ready to be punished in any way but please don’t cancel my scholarship and don’t expel me again.” I pleaded, tears slipping down my cheek.

I didn’t hear the voice of the head mistress until some seconds later.

“Have you confirmed  if you are not pregnant?” She asked and that hit me so hard when I realized that I let Damien sleep with me and I wasn’t on any birth control nor did he use any protection.

I felt so stupid and angry with myself for falling for fast. Hearing her mention pregnancy made me worried because I haven't checked and I wouldn’t want to be pregnant. If I ended up being pregnant then my chances of ever staying in this school would be ruined.

“I’m guessing you haven’t.” She said after a few seconds when I didn’t say anything.

“Alright, sit back on your seat. That’s not the reason why I called you here.” She said to me. 

I lifted my face to look at her and she was looking at me with a blank look on her face so I couldn’t tell what it was she was thinking and what she wanted to tell me.

“Can I?” I asked, wanting to be sure.

“Yes. Do that. I don’t have the whole day with you.” She sounded a little irritated and I quickly sat back on my seat.

“So the reason I have called you is simple. After expelling you, I heard that you were kidnapped outside of the school gates and that’s why I had to reach out to your house but unfortunately the line didn’t go through. What happened to you?” She asked and she sounded a little concerned and interested.

“Yes. I was kidnapped.” I said before I recalled Noah’s words to me earlier.

“And what happened? Where did they take you to? Who took you? And how did you escape? I want every detail because you’re a student of the school and I cannot have a bad reputation for the school.” She asked inquisitively.

“I was knocked out. I cannot recall where I was taken to but I was too drugged to see anything because when I woke up, I found myself on the street feeling too weak.” I managed to lie and I was surprised with how smooth my lie was because I’m usually a terrible liar.

She seemed confused as she looked at me with furrowed eyebrows. “You were drugged so you said but you seem to remember being drugged, how? How come you don’t know where you were taken to?” 

“I was knocked out. I don’t recall anything else but I could tell I was drugged because I cannot recall what happened to me. I don’t know who took me or who they took me. What they wanted with me and why they chose to let me go.” I replied and it was partly the truth.

I had no idea who and Noah was the one who rescued me. He should know better but I couldn’t tell her that.  Could Noah be behind it? I thought to myself.

“You seem to have recalled a few details seeing how your eyes widened a little earlier.” The headmistress remarked and I got to know how observant she was because I had just thought of something but somehow she knew I did

“If you know anything then don’t hesitate to tell me because this concerns the life of every other student in the academy. Who knows who's going to be next. Do you at least know who rescued  you so that we can locate that person?” She asked.

I shook my head. “ I wish I could but I don’t and it’s making me wonder who wanted me and why they did that. I’m also curious to know.”

The headmistress sighed deeply. 

“You can go.” She said after some second and I thanked her before leaving her office, going to look for Noah to get some answers.
