Lucas POV

I glared at the screen, skimming over the email from my cyber team. It had happened again – someone had breached our systems and messed up everything. My jaw tightened as I read through the detailed report. This wasn’t the first time; it had become an ongoing problem. No matter how many defenses we set up, someone kept breaking through, testing my patience to its limit.

Our list of suspects had three names. I was determined to hunt down each one, ensuring they would regret ever crossing me. They’d face the most excruciating end, begging for a quick release, which I would never give them.

I was pulled from my fury when my phone rang. I answered with a scowl.

“Cross Jeremy off the list,” my brother Jake said right away. Leaning back in my chair, I raised an eyebrow.

“You took care of him?” I asked, intrigued. Jeremy had been one of our main suspects.

“No, he did that himself,” Jake replied, sounding amused. I wasn’t in the mood for jokes. “Before he went, he gave us a clue.”

“Oh? So who does he say it is? Florence?” I asked, thinking of another suspect. Jake chuckled.

“Florence is gone too. Someone else got to him first,” Jake said, his tone dark. “You know who it is, don’t you?”

“Riley,” I whispered. Riley was a skilled hacker, a ghost no one had ever seen. We knew nothing about them – their location, real name, or why they were after us. But I had a feeling it was Riley all along. Although Jeremy and Florence had hacking skills, they lacked the audacity to target us like this.

Deep down, I’d suspected it was Riley, but I’d sent Jake after Jeremy and Florence to be certain.

“That troublemaker,” Jake muttered.

“Have you uncovered anything about Riley?” I asked.

“No, but we know it’s definitely them,” Jake confirmed, and I nodded. Whoever this Riley was, they were exceptionally skilled, so much so that my top-notch cyber team couldn’t even trace them.

Despite my anger, I had to admire Riley’s talent. They clearly knew their craft. If they hadn’t been against us, I’d have hired them myself. Now, I was even more curious and driven to catch them. Their skills were unrivaled, and if left unchecked, they could take us down. I wasn’t going to let that happen.

“So what did Jeremy say exactly?” I asked.

“Jeremy had been trying to track Riley for years. He found out Riley is a girl, probably from the South Coast,” Jake replied.

“A girl,” I growled.

“A she-wolf,” Jake added, fueling the fire in my chest. My resolve grew stronger. I wouldn’t let a she-wolf threaten us. Once I caught her, she’d regret ever messing with us.

“Anything else?” I pressed.

“Not much. I’ll be back this evening after I wrap things up here,” Jake said, and I could hear the sounds of our men in the background, probably tearing through Jeremy’s place to uncover more clues.

“Come back as soon as you can. I’ll find this she-wolf,” I vowed, making Jake chuckle.

“Promise me you’ll let me have a part in this. She’s kept us busy for long enough,” he laughed. I understood what he meant, but I had my own reasons for wanting Riley caught.

“Riley will wish she’d never been born,” I muttered.

“She’s bold to come after us like this,” Jake commented after giving orders in the background. “To have defied us repeatedly over the years without us catching a single trace of her. You’ve got to admit, she’s something else.”

“We need to catch her soon,” I said, cutting him off. “Jeremy and Florence are down, and she might know.”

“I know. We’re ripping apart Jeremy’s place for anything he might’ve left on her,” Jake replied. “I’ve got to go now. See you tonight, brother.” With that, he hung up. I quickly messaged my team, updating them with what Jake had discovered about Riley.

Now, all I could do was wait – something I hated more than anything.

I was normally patient, but lately, my wolf had been acting oddly. I sighed and checked the clock. It was almost five in the morning. I hadn’t slept, kept awake by the restless energy of my wolf.

It was as if he was trying to tell me something, but every time I tried to communicate with him, he’d shut me out. This was new. My wolf and I had always been in sync, but now, something had shifted, and I couldn’t figure out what.

Maybe I needed to visit the old witch in the Danielss. She knew things no one else did. That’s why we let her stay in our territory, even though she wasn’t part of the pack. Occasionally, she’d share useful insights, and that kept our relationship mutually beneficial.

I decided to head back to the house I shared with Jake to try to get some rest, though I knew sleep wouldn’t come easily. I went straight to the bathroom, took off my clothes, and stepped into a cold shower.

The icy water hit my skin like tiny needles. The initial shock quickly gave way, and my tense muscles began to relax as the water flowed over me.

“We’re coming for you, Riley.”

“I stayed with her last night,” Jake began quietly, breaking the silence that had fallen thick over the room like dust. “Thought maybe I could help. Comfort her. But…”Lucas looked up from his seat on the couch, where he’d been silently nursing a mug of black coffee. His eyes were bloodshot. “But what?”Jake sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “She had another nightmare.”Lucas tensed. “Same as before?”Jake shook his head slowly. “Worse. She thrashed. Clawed at the sheets. Whispered things I couldn’t understand.”Lucas set his mug down, forgotten. “Did you wake her?”“I tried,” Jake said. “But she flinched away from me. Like I was the threat.”A heavy silence hung between them.“I didn’t push it,” Jake added. “Didn’t want to make it worse. But something’s different now. The nightmares… they’re changing her.”Lucas frowned. “You think they’re connected to what happened? The servers? The missing memories?”“I don’t just think,” Jake said firmly. “I know.”Lucas leaned forward, elbows

Fractured Memories: "Do you remember anything yet?"Jake's voice broke the thick silence of the shared office, his question hanging in the air like fog. He stood by the door, shirt damp from the run, chest rising and falling as the last remnants of exertion faded from his body. The room still smelled faintly of cedar and sweat, undercut by the crisp, sterile scent of electronics humming around them.Lucas didn't look up. His fingers hovered above the keyboard, the glow from the monitors casting shadows under his eyes. He had been staring at the same set of surveillance reports for over twenty minutes. Jake didn’t have to ask to know he hadn’t processed a word."No," Lucas finally muttered, his voice low and rough. "Nothing that makes sense."Jake crossed the room, dropping into the chair across from his brother. He rubbed a hand over his face and then through his hair, still damp with sweat. "Lila was asleep when I got back," he said quietly. "I didn’t want to wake her."Lucas nodde

LILATwo weeks later...I sat alone in the library, eyes fixed on the blank glow of the computer screen. Everything was wiped clean—completely erased. Over the past week, I had deleted and destroyed every single file from my systems. It was like I’d scrubbed my entire past clean. To be certain that none of it could ever come back to haunt me, I went a step further. I dismantled my entire setup and set fire to my hard drives and devices. Every trace of my old digital life went up in flames. I wanted it gone. Forever. But now that it was all behind me, I couldn’t help but wonder—what now? This world, this life, was all I had ever known. And now, I was walking away from it. Not because I was forced to... but because I chose to. It was time to let go.The soft creak of the library chair beneath me was the only sound. My fingers hovered over the keyboard, useless. There was nothing left to type, no mission to plan, no code to crack."You okay?" Jake’s voice echoed in my mind through the li

Lila’s breath was still ragged as the three of them lay tangled in the warm aftermath. The steady thrum of their heartbeats gradually slowed, but beneath the surface, an undeniable heat still pulsed relentlessly inside her. Lucas’s dark eyes flickered with sudden realization.“She’s still in heat,” Lucas murmured, voice low but sharp with concern.Jake shifted beside them, a slow, understanding nod acknowledging the truth. “It’s the two mates,” he said quietly, brushing a strand of damp hair from Lila’s flushed face. “The cycle... it lasts longer than usual when you have two. Could be a week, maybe more.”Lila groaned softly, a tired, frustrated sound that mingled with the lingering ache of pleasure and the primal call of her body’s insistent need. “A week?” she repeated, the weight of that realization settling heavy in her chest. The thought of enduring this endless, raw craving felt almost unbearable.Jake’s voice was firm but soothing. “We’ll take care of you. Every day, every mome

“Are you breathing okay?” Jake’s voice was low, rough with concern, yet gentle enough to stir a fragile warmth in her chest.Lila nodded weakly, her head resting on his shoulder, her body trembling with a mixture of exhaustion and heat. “I... I think so,” she whispered, voice scratchy. “It’s just… so much.”Lucas, still close enough to feel her heartbeat, looked down at her with eyes clouded in emotion. “Tell us how you feel,” he murmured, his fingers brushing her damp hair away from her face. “Don’t hold it in this time.”She closed her eyes, her breath catching for a long, shaky second. “I feel… full. Not just my body—my heart. Like something inside me finally stopped breaking.”Jake’s arms tightened around her as if the weight of her confession threatened to pull her under. “You scared the hell out of us, Lila.”“I scared myself.” She opened her eyes slowly. The dim lighting of the room cast a soft glow on Lucas’s bare chest and Jake’s profile. “I thought I lost everything. I thoug

"You're going through your cycle, sweetheart," Lucas said seriously. His words echoed in my mind as I slowly accepted what was happening to me—it had finally begun.I opened my mouth to speak, but a rough cough interrupted me, my throat too dry to form any words."Water," I gasped between coughs. Lucas reached for the pitcher on my nightstand but muttered under his breath when he found it empty. He quickly left the room and returned moments later with a glass full of water.Tears pricked my eyes at the sight.“Here, I’ve got you, sweetheart,” he said gently, holding the glass to my lips. I drank deeply in three long gulps, feeling instant relief as the dryness faded.Just then, Jake burst through the door with a nurse in tow. But the moment he laid eyes on me, his expression changed to one of shock and realization.“She’s entering her cycle,” Jake stated grimly. The nurse quietly stepped out, sensing the intensity in the room, while Jake remained rooted at the door, visibly shaken. Hi
