Chapter 8

Rylee's POV.

I was taken aback by the grandeur and magnificence of the Beta's mansion.

The pack house was like a luxury estate where many wealthy elites lived. Its walls were fortified with crystal balls that served as a source of energy to ward off any evil power or dark magic in this elite realm.

Also, the magnificent alpha mansion was at the center of this pack house estate, while we, the poor masses and other pack members, lived outside of the pack house. I had not been in this pack house before.

What could have possibly brought me here? My parents were restaurant owners before they were attacked by rogues, and so, they never had the privilege to mingle with the rich or the upper-class families who controlled the entire pack.

The Dark Shadow Moon Pack was one of the biggest wolf packs in history, and Elizabeth was also stunned as she took in our surroundings.

"Wow!" Elizabeth gasped, as I'm sure that she hadn't been in this pack house before. We only heard the gossip from rich kids in the pack's high school that the pack house was like heaven.

"Are you two done admiring the view? Now, follow me," the cab driver who abducted us ordered, and I gulped hard and nudged Elizabeth's arm.

"Should we follow him? You are not involved with Nash, so you shouldn't be here," I whispered to Elizabeth in case I got into any trouble or the Beta's family ordered for me to be locked up.

"No, Rylee. I cannot make the mistake of leaving you alone. I left you last night, and I truly regretted it because you slept with a man and you cannot remember the man that you slept with. I'm going with you," Elizabeth insisted, as she held my black polythene bag and stubbornly followed me.

"Eliza, what if they want to lock me up? You are not involved. Please, go home. I have money in my bag. Please use it to go back," I told Elizabeth, but she firmly shook her head and walked ahead of me.

"No way, Rylee. We are best friends, and best friends are supposed to stand up for each other," Elizabeth insisted, and I sighed heavily.

"Fine," I followed her from behind as we walked to a magnificent gate. It was a black gate, but with smaller wolf head sculptures at the top.

The cab driver spoke to the tough security man who stood at the gate, and the security man nodded and looked at us.

"They are the ones Young Miss Bella ordered for. Come in," the security man said, and unlocked the gate for Elizabeth and me to enter the vast compound.

I felt like I was walking on a shining glass surface, and I was careful with my steps so that I didn't ruin anything.

The grounds had perfect tiles and interlocking pathways, as the surroundings were lit up with lush greenery and flowering plants.

We walked ahead to the front of the magnificent duplex, and the butler gestured for Elizabeth and me to wait at the front, then he went into the house alone.

I stood there anxiously, wondering why Bella Harvey had summoned for me and Elizabeth to be brought to her father's house.

Was she trying to show us that she is rich?

I pondered as I saw Elizabeth taking a look around too.

Just then, the front door of the luxury white mansion unlocked, and Bella came out, wearing a blue short denim jeans and a crisp white crop top. Her belly button was on display as she was a slim figure with small breasts and long legs.

She wore a beautiful pair of white slippers that had pink cotton on the top.

"Hi, welcome to my father's house," Bella said, and my gaze furrowed in disbelief at her friendly gesture.

I looked from Elizabeth to Bella in disbelief. Did she kidnap us all the way from the pack's hotel to this pack house?

"So, why did you bring me here?" I asked her angrily, and the bodyguard standing nearby growled at me.

"Hey, watch how you speak to our Young Miss!"

I glared at him and looked back at Bella's pretty face. She was light-skinned and had a nose ring on her nose. She wore expensive bracelets and looked like an angel.

I wondered why I was cheated upon by the moon goddess, and Nash was taken away from me.

"Did you know why I summoned you here?" Bella's tone shifted from her friendly gesture to a chilling voice as she glared at me.

I was an Omega by birth, while she was a higher-ranking she-wolf.

"No. Why did you bring us here? To show off your father's mansion?" I queried her, and she glared at me.

"I am only tolerating listening to you because you are Nash's ex-girlfriend. You should mind how you speak to me, little Omega, because I am not of your level, and I can order the guards to flog you for disrespecting me," Bella said, her voice filled with threat, and Elizabeth quickly chipped in.

"We are sorry, Bella. We didn't mean to cross you. Actually, Rylee is just trying to recover from the shock of the fact that Nash is your real mate." Elizabeth forced a tight smile at Bella, who glanced at her.

Bella looked at Elizabeth from head to toe and said, "You're a lower-class person, and you have no right to speak when you are not asked to. Where are your manners? Anyway, I'm not interested in you. My focus is on this poor thing here. Tell me how much you spent on Nash for the five years that you dated him, and I'm going to pay you back. After that, you stay away from him!"

I looked at Bella's face with utmost shock.

"What?" I gasped, like I was hearing double. I laughed out, but she drew near me like a flash and smacked me so hard on my left cheek.

"Ah!" I glared at her as my hand flew protectively to cover my left cheek.

"How dare you smack me?" I growled at her, and she yelled, "I can smack you again. Tell me, how much did you fụcking spend on my man, and you keep your stinking self away from him. As I can smell Nash on you. If you dare to challenge me, I will kill you with my bare hands," she threatened.

I looked at Bella in disbelief, and the front door burst open while a taller version of Beta Fabian came out. I assume he was Beta Fabian's father, Ex-Beta James Harvey, since Fabian is the new Beta.

"What's going on here, Bella? Did you slap her?" Beta Fabian asked, and Bella nodded and faked pity.

"Yes, father. She is secretly hooking up with my mate, and I have told her to tell me how much that she spent on him, so that she can keep her distance away," Bella said, crying out crocodile tears, and Beta James looked at me with a cold expression on his face.

"Young lady, is that true?" He demanded, blue veins popping out of his neck, and I knew that he would attack me if I admitted to the truth. How can I possibly forget the top story that had trended for decades of how Nash's mother had rejected this powerful man?

"It's not true. Her mate and I are only friends, and we have never done anything intimate. Except that I helped him through university to get his PhD," I muttered, my gaze lowered, and Beta James calmed.

"It's fine. I hope you know the law of this pack. You cannot date a mated man, so you have to end your affair with him. I will compensate you for all the money that you spent on him. But you should stay away from my daughter's mate. Understood?"

I raised my head and looked at Beta James' face. If only he knew that his daughter is mated to his rejected ex-mate's son.
