Chapter 11

From Alessia's POV

The sound of a tree branch cracking woke me from my sleep. I opened my eyes and saw the silhouette of a creature standing just a few feet in front of me. I slowly sat up to find out it was a baby bear. I froze in fear, my heart racing. Where there was a baby, there was a mama.

Taking a deep breath, I stood to my feet and slowly backed away, trying not to make any sudden movements. I eventually reached a safe distance and watched as the bear cub scampered away. I sighed in relief, thankful for my luck.

I glanced around, trying to see if any traces of trails might lead to civilization, which made me laugh because the only form of civilization I knew was that of the Crestview pack. Crestview was a small town but the only place I had ever known. I had never ventured far from there, and the thought of being so lost was daunting.
